As a young, dumb NBA prospect, Drew made the biggest mistake of his life. He broke up with Melanie Grant.

She was the perfect woman for him. Smart, beautiful, and even more talented on the court than he was.

And he was the fool that let her get away.

Now he’s a sports agent with a client that reminds him of himself at that age. Quinn is a talented hothead who gets in his own way.

Problem 1: Melanie is the perfect person to help.

Problem 2: Fifteen years ago she made it perfectly clear she never wanted to see or hear from him again.

Problem 3: The moment he saw her, he knew letting her go again wasn’t an option.

One thing he learned from perseverance and persistence always win.

A single phone call unraveled her perfectly constructed personal life. She returned to her beloved hometown on the island of Alabaster Key to find her family in a financial tailspin.

Her childhood home and the family business were in danger, and her grieving mother refused her assistance. It doesn’t matter that her daughter is one of the best wealth managers in the business.

The one person who does want her help? The man who broke her heart.

Problem 1: Quinn is young, talented, and arrogant enough to think he’s the next LeBron James.

Problem 2: Quinn’s overbearing, obnoxious stage mother wholeheartedly agrees.

Problem 3: Drew is still charming, drop dead gorgeous, and still can make her traitorous heart skip a beat.

Melanie always was a sucker for a challenge.

Enjoyable

Having an interracial romance with an interesting theme is rare so the author gets an extra star. However the romantic part took too much of a backseat to the rest of the story. They went from a friend with benefits situation to I want to marry you. There wasn’t much of a built up.
Drew was a kind man but needed a backbone. The heroine, Melanie , basically walked all over him and was quite dismissive of him and his feelings.
As for Melanie, being independent is great but she took it to rude levels. The way she spoke to Drew when he came to warn her was very disrespectful . Worse she thought she was in the right and never apologized.
