The Housekeeper's Daughter

Rate this book
"JUST HOW PREGNANT ARE YOU, ANYWAY?"

Mighty Drake Colton could handle the Navy's most dangerous missions—but the housekeeper's daughter now had him buffaloed. Eight months ago the tough and resilient SEAL had come home to celebrate Joe Colton's sixtieth birthday and had ended up sharing his body and soul with Maya Ramirez. But the sheets had barely cooled from their heated lovemaking when he'd walked out to put his life on the line again. And she'd done the unthinkable. The woman who'd worshiped him since childhood—who was now carrying his baby—had closed her heart to him. Well, Drake was used to getting what he wanted. And Maya would be his—whatever it took!

I think this is my second book in the series. It was okay. I don't like the picture on the cover, it gives a complete different impression that what the book is actually about. The title could have been better too ...

Drake Colton, the Navy SEAL, is home for Liza's wedding to Nick. He received a letter from Joe indicating it was time to come home, and he sees Maia, nanny to the younger children and also eight months pregnant.... from when he was home for Joe Colton's 60th birthday party.......

Maia resists getting back with Drake because she does not want him to be resentful later in their marriage. She sends him away and refuses his offers of marriage until he comes to grips with his twin's death as well as "regaining his soul".

Since the setting is -mostly- the Colton home, some of the children are alerted that Patsy Portman is masquerading as Meredith, and fear that Meredith may have been killed years earlier.

"Louise" has nightmares and, during a thunderstorm, remembers the man in her dreams/memories name: Joe. She believes her family is in danger.

The beginning was very good. I was really disappointed in the end. It didn't let the family know that the twins switched places. Did the one twin get caught for the murders ? Did she find her daughter ? How did the daughter react? These are the questions not answered.

They left the story hanging about the twin moms. Did not say how that turned out

Drake Colton
Maya Ramirez
Drake is a Navy Seal and when he was at home on leave for his Dad’s 60th birthday party Maya and him finally got together after years of caring for the other one but doing nothing about it. Drake finds out Maya is pregnant from a letter his Dad sent him so when he arrives home she is about 8 months pregnant. He then starts his campaign to get her to marry him, but she is reluctant because she knows he has not moved on from his past. This is a good book, it slowed a little in the middle for me, there is the continuing mystery of the Mother - Meredith. I would read more in the series.

This one was pretty bad, there was hardly any action what so ever. The relationship just 'fell' into place with little to no emotion.
