The reason why i took out one star is because of the amount of grammar mistakes in this book. Niro writes fantastically and she describes things perfectly, but her grammar just goes icky some places in the book. Where she needs to add an 's', it's missing and where she needs to plural a word, it's singular. And this has happened more than 4 times in the book.
At first, I thought that there were going to be two love interests in the book but that was clearly not the case. There were so many freakin' more. Garret, Kheirall and Svenn. sis wtf.
a few pages in the novel while reading;
The Knight has always been by my side after Aerin's death. He even earned a nickname from Lady Deirdre;
The Queen's Shadow
My friend is no one's shadow.
"I can't lose you, Aelfric" I shake my head desperately.
"You won't," He promises solemnly. "Have faith in me, Rhianelle."
"...means you're barely seventy years of age."
Sixty-eight years old to be exact.
Kheirall literally said to her;
'You and I could be perfect for each other
and she didn't end up with him? she married a freakin vampire with other lovers still with her? like, she didn't interact with them but Kheirall kept calling her
"calm down, love"
"you wound me, love"
LIKE FREAKIN' AARON WARNER!
The scene now shifts to the pre-wedding-with-a-vampire drama;
The Nightwalker suddenly points at me. I don't need the demon to translate that.
He wants me.
That somehow terrifies me and comforts me at the same time.
AND THEN AHH!!! THIS BOOK ALSO HAD A "who did this to you?" SCENE!
The moon and the heavenly body in the sky suddenly stop moving in their orbit as the universe stands still. I blink at the purplish bruising on her arm, at the scarlet hue over the edges, at the clear demarcation of each finger that had left the mark.
Utter rage; overpowering and devastating surges in my brain as my vision floods red.
"Who did this to you?"
This book mainly focuses on the romance. It's basically romance which twists into fantasy but it's mainly romance.
I had nothing tethering me to this world then, but now...I don't want to let her go. I want a thousand smiles, a thousand more conversations with her. Even then it will never be enough.
"They can't claim you. You're mine. I'll protect you."
"For what it's worth, I'm glad you came into my existence. No matter how brief."
When Rhianelle was about to get 77 lashes, he came and announced;
"Rhianelle Wiolant is mine. Do you hear me? Touch her and there is not a place in the world you can hide. I will hunt you to the deepest wormhole and flay you layer by layer."
Yes, people, this is THE DEMON VAMPIRE - SVENN.
*applaud, applaud*
The ending didn't quite determine whether they got a happy ending or not, Svenn still thinks himself a monster and Rhianelle doesn't think she will get a future with him.
If you ask me, I'd tell you they are two devastatingly broken souls who need and are meant for each other but they misunderstand each other and just because of that, has the novel ended with their story incomplete.
