Nutritional health expert Natalie Savona improves on her 500,000-copy selling Big Book of Juices & Smoothies , with this even bigger book of recipes guaranteed to boost your health and vitality – a comprehensive introduction to juicing.
The Big Book of Juices is a new edition of Natalie Savona's classic title, now with even more juices and smoothies and more than 250 photographs. It is founded on two basic principles. First, that juicing is easy if we simply adopt the habit of it; and second, that juicing every day is a delicious way to get healthy and stay healthy.
Following a comprehensive introduction to juicing, 405 different juice and smoothie blends are divided up into three central Making Juices; Making Smoothies; and Making Quenchers (juices with a little added something, such as soda water, herbs or spices). Every blend is given an at-a-glance nutrient profile (listing vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients), and a star rating on its merits as an energy- and immune-booster, a detoxer, and a tonic for the skin.
The recipes can be sourced in several by fruit or vegetable of choice (the chapters are organized by main ingredient); by health benefit (an alphabetical chart lists approximately 50 common ailments or disorders, and cross-references them to the juices that will help overcome them); and by nutrient (a list is given of all the major vitamin and mineral nutrients, each with cross-references to the relevant recipes in the book).
The last chapter – a juicing reference section – includes the nutrient and ailment charts as well as suggested juice courses for detoxing and immunity boosting, making this the most practical and comprehensive juice book on the market.
I just got an awesome juicer so I got this at the library. I like it but I've found it's just easier to juice whatever's in the fridge rather than follow a specific recipe. Although it does give specific recipes for immunity, detoxifying, digestion, skin, and energy.
This book is AMAZING. I just got into juicing and with the help of this book I now love it. It has a plethora of enticing juice recipes and full color artistic photos of most of them to boot. I love that this book has the cool photos - it adds something special to the book and made me love even more. It also inspired me to come up with my own drink recipes. After you buy this juice book, there is no need to buy another recipe juice book. However, I do have another good juicing book that talks about the nutritional aspect to it.
This is by far the best juicing and smoothie recipe book. It's full of beautiful pictures and simple recipes with focuses on building energy, immunity, better sleep, etc.
A good starting point....after a couple of weeks of juicing, you figure out what combines well, what doesn't (ugh...oranges/mustard greens) Love the pictures!
So I have been browsing the Bible of Juicing over my breakfast. Couple of thoughts and comments:
1. Awesome options 2. A bit dated. Science has grown fivefold since it was published in 2011. We now know so much more about effects of certain nutrition and combining. Still valid info 3. Book should be accompanied with an App. I want to be able to say - here are the fruits I have, here are the ailments or diseases I care most about addressing. Here is what my regular food menu for the day looks like. Here are my preferred taste leanings. Now which juices should I prioritize and why? The App, spits out 12 options with a sentence rationale and directs me to a section in the book I should read.
That makes this Bible powerful. Can we get this change made🙄😋
What i really liked about this tome, was the ease of use. Not only did it tell you how to make each juice, but also what area of the body it affected. Def a keeper!
I'm happy that I bought this book. I have some picky eaters. Now my kids pick drinks to make and we read about the nutritional benefits of whatever they make. I have a son that doesn't want to eat fruit or veggies but now he's asking me to make him these drinks. It's a fun and delicious way to teach the kids about nutrition. My older son even said he felt like the drinks gave him more energy so it's a nice example of how healthy food does give you more energy.
This book has several recipes for juicing, smoothies, and quenchers that I'm excited to try. Not only that but it has an ailment section in the back with different fruits and veggies that are best for those ailments. There is also a juice high weekend detox included in the book. A great source for people who enjoy juicing and it includes how well each recipe helps your energy, detox, immunity, digestion, and skin.
A great resource with colorful pictures. Not only are juicing recipes given, it is a resource for what fruits/vegetables are good for what ailment/benefit and how to prepare them. There's even a "menu" section to get you started.
I got my husband a juicer for his birthday, and knowing he would need a recipe book, i read a dozenish reviews on Amazon and this one had the best reviews. i was not disappointed. Beautiful book with simple recipes and tons lovely pictures.
This book is great when I want to do something different but can't think of a creative combination. I like the indexing by ingredient which makes it easy to use the nutrient chart and then find a juice by its main ingredient. All in all it's a useful & attractive book.
Tasty, but wish they was more nutritional information. I do dig they also added smoothies and quenchers (never heard of these before). I'm mainly a vegetable juicer.
This was a great book with so many recipes for juicing and smoothies. I really love how it has a graph at the bottom to tell what nutrients you are getting.
I haven't counted the exact # of juice recipes, but juices are less than half of this book. The rest of the book is somewhat inexplicably devoted to smoothies and teas. I feel lied to.
