The magic of the Raven Queen ensures peace and stability. Some would see that time change.
Lan and Sophie cannot move on from the deadly attack. Both train to be ready for another attack, but all has been quiet.
Sophie continues to train as a sorcerer, though she has not learned from the Raven Queen as she had hoped. Life in the tower is slow, and Sophie longs for excitement.
While on patrol with the young prince, Lan and the Taihg encounter a strange attack. The rest of the Taihg are sent to investigate, but Lan is left behind, where he searches on his own.
Danger lurks closer than any realize. When Lan goes missing, Sophie must find him. What they uncover will change all that they know about the power in the world.
As Sophie struggles to find a way past the patterns the restrict her magic, and Lan searches to understand the powerful connection he now has, they are key to saving the Raven Queen—and all of Reyash—from the dark power that threatens the land.
It might already be too late to stop what a powerful sorcerer set into motion.
I liked this one way more than the first. Some things still irked me like Lan crying out every other page but for the most part it was good. I really wanted to know what became of Ridaln but that was not in this book although he was mentioned a few times. I expect more of him in the third installment. Prince Nevarn is introduced and I like him a lot more than the others and I’m so relieved that what happened to him at the end was not his fault 😅 now, I’m going to start the next book. Happy reading!
I had mixed feelings about the first book but gave this one a go. I have 3 main problems. 1. The characters finally started to have some depth to them at the end of book 1, then regressed again to start book 2. It's hard to grow to like any of them as you don't ever really get to know even the 2 MCs 2. There is a constant contradiction during the book as characters learn something then forget it or re-question it again amd again. 3. The author writes almost as if he is afraid to let the story develop at a decent pace and wants it to be a slow as possible.
Having said that the storyline itself is interesting and just unpredictable enough that I was able to keep going.
I tried... I tried so so so hard to like this book and this series but it just lacks... everything.
It's very choppy and there are a lot of plot holes and while the characters should be confused and trying to find their way, the reader should not. It's no Jeff Wheeler book to be sure, and I won't keep reading this series, which is a shame be the it had the potential to be great
Lots of twists, turns and surprises in this fast paced adventure. Character and world building is good, the Raven Queen herself seems very aloof, not very likeable in this part of the story. I am hoping that the author will show more of the Raven Queen's personality in the next book. I'm ready to begin the next book to see what Lan and Sophie do next to defeat the evil that is upon their land.
This is another example of how a series can get you hooked. I can’t wait until book 3 is released. I might have to start reading all the other books/ series again. I haven’t found a book I haven’t liked. Mostly, I have lived them. I am never disappointed by this author. 😘
A great series that keeps you involved in reading to get to the results of the magic and power.
Ok feel that anyone interested in the power of magic would interested in this series. Look forward o the next book but realize that there is another one after book three. Unfortunately will not be available until mid April. Thank you D. K. Holmberg for such interesting books.
Sophie is frustrated with her progress an Lan is still searching. The two learn of each other’s powers and learn that they can work together. They face very terrifying times. Sophie has grown and is finally coming into her own. Lan is struggling with his new power.
Great storyline and a good mixture of adventure, magic and advancement of the characters. I did not want to stop reading. Had to drag my eyes away! Awesome!
The book is well written, but does drag in a few places. The story is developed well and the characters are relatable. There is quite a bit that will doubtless be explained further on in the series.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
