Tom Kyd has smoldering eyes, a sculpted body, and supernatural staying power--even for a vampire. He also thinks he knows best about everything--including how to figure out who Angela Ryan was before he and his clan rescued her from a mysterious attack that stole her memory. But whoever she is, Tom wants her. . .
Six months ago Angela never would have imagined her life would turn into an episode of "Dark Shadows"--or that she'd be saved by the kind of man she's always fantasized about. Tom may be a vampire, and a know-it-all, but when his kisses are so sinful, so intoxicating, and so damn good, Angela is tempted to say yes to whatever he wants. . .
USA Today Best-selling author Rosemary Laurey is an ex-pat Brit, retired special education teacher and grandmother who now lives in Ohio and has a wonderful time writing and letting her imagination run riot. Her hobbies are vacuuming, dusting and cleaning toilets but regrettably the demands of her writing career leave little time to engage in these pursuits.
Be Mine Forever is the third book in Laurey's Forever Vampires series. I have really had a fun time with this vampire series that this author has written. I really do like the style of how these books are written with plenty of plot points and swoony moments and with a level of spooky engagements that really pulls in the reader's attention. Now its been a while since I have read a book by this author but I was quickly pulled into this book.
Angela is the daughter of a wealthy businessman and also trained in the arts of witchcraft since her mother is a witch as well. But Angela is very intelligent and when she finds out some problems in the accounting books she goes to her father with the problem and he informs her he will make sure that it is taken care of. But then, she is attacked by a vampire who steals her memories and she and her friend find themselves with no memories and turned into ghouls who will need to live off of raw meat. They are brought into a vampire sanctuary to help them acclimate to their new situation and try to find out their true identities and get their memories back. There is one vampire that Angela trusts though....Tom who has aided her and is a bit too overprotective. But as they journey together to find out the truth, the danger to Angela rises when the vampire who took her memory wants her as his possession and only by Tom and his fellow vampires joining forces with their enemies will they be able to stop this enemy who seeks to destroy them.
I found Be Mine Forever to be a stunning story and I was really intrigued by seeing them really fall for each other and seeing the growth of the plot that develops in this book here. It was quite intriguing though seeing the placement of the plot points though and I really enjoyed seeing how this book develops. It starts out with a pretty intense moment that leaves you in suspense and you find yourself curious about Angela and then we are introduced to our lovely hero Tom, who is a bit of an alpha male at times, but I did like that he respects Angela's choices and her desire to find herself again.
But we also get some fun magical happenings with some witches in the book that I wasn't expecting in this story. We find out that vampires and witches are enemies, they don't EVER work together and they don't ever cross into each other's territories but in this book, they are forced to face some facts and deal with each other and let their misconceptions about each other go so they can defeat their mutual enemy. Angela is the one that really brings these two together though. Angela has made some bonding friendships with both the vampire kind and the witches so they both trust her and since she is the one in danger, is what makes these two enemies willing to work together.
Now onto the villain...boy he is badass and really needs to be put down. We see from the beginning how bad he really is. He manipulates Angela's father into doing his bidding and there are hints that there is a sexual relationship between the men. But we see how he will use any weapon at his disposal to win. He is the one in control and is very powerful, one of the most powerful vampires in the world actually. So we see how they really have to get creative, find out his true origins before they are able to be a match for him. But I did respect that this villain was craftily written and really keeps the reader in suspense all the way through.
The romance that develops between these two is more faded in the beginning. We don't really see the friendship and trust since we don't see how Tom has helped Angela adjust to her new life. We skip ahead over a set of time where they already have a bond of trust but we do see their relationship change from friendship to something deeper. Tom and Angela already have the relationship built in trust though but more develops when Tom comes after Angela when she leaves and goes into witch territory (which she didn't know about, she is just on a search for her past) but Tom crosses enemy territory to keep her safe and we see then how much Tom really cares for Angela. There are quite a bit of sexy times between these two, much sooner than I was expecting in this book and boy these two are pretty explosive. Sex is pretty powerful between these two, but as the danger develops their romance deeps into stronger emotion that just physical intimacy.
We also get my favorite couple of the series " Justin and Stella" who do make a contribution to the story and the plot building. We see their strong bond and seeing them raise Stella's mortal son and I loved seeing this family again. Seeing their strong relationship and what a great family bond they have together and most especially we see the bond between father and son and I love seeing their interactions and what they give to the plot which adds some plot thickening points that really develop the book and most especially the dangerous element surrounding the villain.
Overall I found Be Mine Forever to be a story that is packed with thrills, dangers, off the charts chemistry and a story bound to keep its reader on their toes all the way till the end! VIVIDLY EDGY AND ROMANTIC!
This was different from the earlier books in the series. Instead of just being about one romance, the main plot of the story was about Angela & Jane finding & restoring their real identities. It made for a much more interesting story.
In doing so they are hunted by the the rogue vamp that turned them into ghouls, discover the illegal financial scheme between her father and Loran and form an alliance with witches.
Stella and Justin and all the previous vamps, plus some new ones and the local and American witches, are actively involved in the story, which switchs back and forth between characters.
There is alot of character interaction and danger, making it more of a historical suspense romance. Although for a sadistic monster, Loran was taken out fairly easily after they figured out how.
The romance between Angela and Tom, while secondary to the the main plot, is fully portrayed and satifactory resolved.
We learn alot the back story of the vamps involved leading us into further stories.
Favorite scene: Jane's 'interaction' with the burglery in the shop next door to the Vampire Emporium.
So far I liked this book wayyyy much better than the others in the series. Such a good tale about a girl who lost her memory when she became a ghoul and is over-coming obstacles while trying to figure out who she is with the help of her vampire friends. Vampires, ghouls, witches.... Honestly the only thing this book is missing is werewolves! And to whoever said "I was expecting a definition of what a ghoul was" really..... Really....? That would be like picking up a vampire books to read and asking what a vampire was. Just Google it if you don't know. Annnyway. The only thing I wish was written differently about this book was when they confronted Laran for the last time. There wasn't nearly enough drama behind it. Although I am more of an action girl and expect the fight scenes to last at least a chapter or two. But still it was like a paragraph, maybe two and then it was over. All in all a great book!
I read this without having read the previous books in the series, which turned out to be a mistake. There wasn't much tension to the romantic story, and it felt like it was just wrapping up the loose ends from previous books. I felt as if I'd picked the book up in the middle of their story. While this is partially my fault for reading a series out of order, I think that romance at least should be able to stand alone. For instance, you wouldn't get all the nuances of Butch and Marissa's story in Lover Revealed if you hadn't read the rest of the series, but their romance would function as a romance without it. This didn't function as a romance, and, to be honest, I didn't care enough to go back and read the previous books.
Trigger Warnings: What they call "brain rape" a vampire drinks from you and robs you of all memory, breaking and entering, theft, assault, amnesia, that's all from the pages I read
The first few pages I was intrigued at the idea. But then it quickly did a six-month time skip and I was left going, "Ok, what did we miss?" A whole lot apparently. In the time skip she learns She's already in love and you have no idea why or how. She still had no idea who she was and went six months without trying to figure it out? Seams highly unlikely to me.
It wasn't just the story that was dragging on though, the writing style was driving me nuts. Every other sentence ended with an exclamation point. It was like reading 123 pages of text all in capital letters. If everyone shouts everything then nothing becomes important anymore. Sentences were thrown in to build up page space and little to nothing was even accomplished. I had no idea why I should care about their relationship and even weird sentences with exclamation points were thrown into the "love scene" that made it feel like it was skipping on a track. The hints she got about herself weren't really going anywhere and their fight was the most unbelievable fight I've read to date.
It didn't matter that this was the third book in the series and I haven't read the other two. I could tell I had missed out on the two other couples but this one still should have made sense, moved at a decent pace, and not been screaming the whole time!
I like how in the beginning you learn a little about the character and what causes her to lose her memory. You dont have as many questions when the book starts. You also can see how much her old life changes from her new life. I have to say you also can a better look into how far the characters are willing to go for things that they want. It definitely captivated me from the very beginning. I could barely put it down.
I love vampire romances and Rosemary Laurey spins a great tale. I really great page turner couldn't put it down can't wait for the next one to come out. I romances scenes were fantastic i could picture exactly what was being done. fantastic book.
There were more than a few spelling or grammar issues and the handling of character viewpoint changes was confusing. Interesting monster lore was used for ghouls and vampires, but the ending was flat with a hurried conclusion.
The other week, I read #2 in the series (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...) and found that I didn't like it for a number of reasons. I picked up these two books because it gave no indication that they were part of a series. You do need to read these in order. Again, the author throws all of these terms out but you're not given an explanation of what they actually are. In the first 100 pages, I expected an explanation of what a ghoul is because that's what the heroine has been turned into. There was nothing.
Unfortunately, everything that was wrong with the second book, the third book had more errors and problems. The heroine starts off in America, loses her memory and ends up in England. This was a little confusing because this essentially happens off page. The reader is just told '5 months later, England' etc. The heroine is still using Americanisms such as "cookies", "sidewalks", "pants" and "panties". However, she also uses British expressions such as "children/babies", "flack" and "bonkers" which, I can assure you, isn't often used in England and yet the characters say the word, oh, only 14593 times!
Compared to the second book, the author hasn't relied on exclamation points so much. In this book, there is an exclamation point on every two pages or so. I'm not joking. The number of typo errors are down however there are still too many in order for these books to be taken seriously. Again, the romance between the hero and heroine happened too quickly. The actual romancing happened off page but the reader isn't told what happened. The reader is just told that, "Tom and Angela have an on-off kind of thing going on." and that's it. They meet up again, have witty banter, and suddenly want to have sex with each other. How romantic!
As for the actual plot, well it wasn't that great. The author essentially showed the readers all of her cards at the beginning on the book. We know who erased her memory and what he is, why they erased their memory and where the bad guy erased her memory. Of course, the 'who', 'what' 'why' and 'where' are the ingredients to a mystery. Although the author didn't reveal any specific information, I still found it pointless. If you have a character that has lost their memory, then it would be best if the audience were, at the most, one step ahead of that character. The reader and the character should be on level playing ground if you're writing with this kind of plot.
That's not the only problem I had with this book or author but I'll leave it at that. I'll avoid this author in the future because everything about these books are shoddy. The editing and proof checking is non-existent and the writing needs more work. The plot itself is passable but it all comes down to the writing.

Didn't I call this one out? A True Blood adventure....I cannot deal with these series. What's about the dramatics?
Read this book way back when paranormal romance wasn't as easy to find. I remember sucking down this book like a crack addict and enjoying it. If I read it nowadays, it probably would have just been okay. Nothing memorable for me except the book cover and the author's name.
