The premise of this book is that dinosaurs were taken away by aliens, and that's why they have been "extinct," but then they return to earth. I like the idea, but I didn't really like what the dinosaurs did after they came back.
I also want to point out that I have read almost all of the dinosaur picture books at my library, and many of them have said "many years ago" instead of stating that they believe dinosaurs are millions of years old like it's some kind of fact. You don't have to offend people with the opening line of your book by blatantly disregarding their beliefs and forcing your own beliefs on them.
This was really fun, but now my son doesn't totally believe me when I say dinosaurs are extinct. 😂I think I timed it badly, reading this the day after I took him to Jurassic Quest with all of their animatronic dinosaurs and realistic baby dinosaur puppets.
This had some humorous moments. The children will enjoy that the dinosaurs have been vacationing in outer space. One dinosaur comes back to find his pet is just a pile of bones....
A great book for dinosaur lovers, especially those who like to see possibilities of dinosaurs living in modern times. This will be a fun, bright colored addition to a storytime--especially for the regular who keeps asking for a dino book!
10/5/10 & 10/7/10 This was a bit of a bomb. I think the kids liked the pictures, but I could see most of it going over their heads. No matter what I thought to try, it didn't really work. The dino lovers still liked seeing dinosaurs, but that's all that this was good for. Perhaps this would be better in a school-age ST.
This was a wonderful book with great illustrations. My son (5yrs), who loves dinosaurs, said this book was amazing. He loved the idea of dinosaurs coming back to live on earth. He also enjoyed how the author used a number of different dinosaurs in the book, and not the same old dinosaurs you see in every other book about dinosaurs. I also appreciated that fact. The colors in the illustrations are very bright. The storyline is appropriate and enjoyable for both children & parents.
I think the illustrations in the book are wonderful. I like the plot behind the story that relates the dinosaurs returning from vacation much like humans( ton's of wash to do, the grass needs mowed etc) I didn't think the reading flowed all that well though so only 3 stars. Some of the text will also be over the students heads with the humor.
Are dinosaurs extinct? NO, they were just taken on spaceships for a vacation to Venus and Mars and now are back...to find things very different.
HUH? The pictures are cute and I know kids are totally into the dinosaur craze but I am not part of the craze. It was okay...I liked the rhymes but wasn't thrilled

This story is about dinosaurs who went on vacation with aliens. They come back and they find everything different. My favorite part is the very end because T Rex is sleeping with his new pet called Fluffy Foo 2.
This is another one that kids will love to look at because it has content they love. Dinosaurs are huge, and the kids will love that. The book and the story itself were not great.
I did not love it, but the kids will check it out a ton from the dinosaur cubby!
