Inspired by the way the novel began—as a fraud and a thief, stealing and repurposing popular storytelling forms—Judson Merrill seeks to make visible the changing and dangerous ways we tell stories. Unafraid of big, societal questions, he is attracted to dynamic collaborations. He made an art book with renowned artist Rebecca Goodale and is currently co-producing a film he wrote (Cult College) about young people’s desperate attempts to navigate a hyper-online world and the destruction of the institutions meant to support them. A graduate of Brown University and Brooklyn College, Merrill's work engages with our most pressing questions and searches for new ways of seeing.
Merrill's work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Iowa Review, Chicago Review, The Massachusetts Review, The Southampton Review, Unstuck, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and other publications. He has been an Artist in Residence at Millay Colony, Ox-Bow, Lighthouse Works, and Guild Hall.
