Rate this book
He was born monstrously deformed, a freak of nature. Possessed of supernatural strength, he committed his first murder at the age of five and escaped the institution to which his mother had abandoned him.

Terror swept through the town of Silverleaf, as the citizens scoured the countryside in a desperate search for the missing child, hoping to capture him before he killed again - and again.

But he had retreated to the swamp, the place of his birth, where amid the mire and the reeds lay a secret so horrifying, so astonishing, that it could well change the ultimate destiny of the human race...

Holy crap, this book is stupid. How does stuff like this even get published? Suffice to say, the summary on the back is very misleading. The first 2/3 of the book is just an episodic murder mystery filled with terrible dialogue and casual 1970's racism. The eventual appearance of the titular "freak" revealed a loony backstory that was so mind-numbingly WTF that I lost brain cells reading this crap. This is not a horror book, and it's not a so-bad-it's-good book either. It's just BAD.
