Meet Ian Wallace. A politically-incorrect private investigator who is never shy about wearing his belief in traditional values on his sleeve. Twenty years earlier, Wallace worked for the CIA but left after his life and dreams were all but destroyed in a dark prison cell in Moscow at the hands of a ruthless KGB Colonel. Today, that Colonel is part of the Russian Mafia and is about to set foot in Boston -- the hometown of Wallace. Decision time. Does Wallace take this opportunity to seek vengeance? And if so, will his actions compromise national security while putting the lives of many others at risk?
The book is well written. The plot doesn't hold up to the great writing. The love scene is ridiculous. Ian broils some guys balls with a lighter, his female sidekick thinks this is excessive, and the next chapter they are in a hotel room saying I love you and having sex. Really? This romantic doesn't get it. They see each other naked a lot and have hormones raging but that's not love. That's raging hormones.
Again, the writer has a great style and makes snarky comments fun! The plot, however, doesn't work!
Feminists would be outraged at the sexual exploits between the two main characters in the book. Personally, I would say it was done with class. The book started out with a theme but then was sandwiched with personalities of the characters until the final climax. Overall, entertaining, thus a 3 star.
