When he held her in his arms, she could feel the heat radiating from his body and settling inside her soul. When he looked at her, he made her breathless. When he kissed her, she melted. I loved the concept for this and it started off well enough. Orin, a 300yr old dragon saves Valencia, a 30yr old African American Bronx native as she escapes from a slave auction run by serpents. He goes up against the serpent that bought her and takes her under his wing (no pun intended) for protection. The initial interaction was fun and cute, and Orin sounded just yumm. I liked that even though he was attracted to Valencia, he chose not to act on it as he had brought her to his home for protection, not to be his concubine. When they do act on their mutual attraction weeks later, it is quite hot. From there though, it goes downhill. The declarations of love come out of left field because we haven't really seen them interact during the weeks that passed. You end up just not understanding how they got from A (attraction) to B(love) and it is totally eye-roll worthy. Throughout the book, the dialogue is adolescent and at times, just painful.

**SPOILERISH***SPOILERISH***Not really, but kind of.

The main event(Orin's fight with the rival serpent) made no sense whatsoever. What did Valencia know that the serpent didn't? The fact that Orin was 'proud' of Valencia for facing down two thousand-pound serpents with nothing more than a branch, and NO PLAN, was beyond ridiculous. Yeah, she was really going to show them. *rolls eyes*

By this point, I was skimming to get to the end. One reviewer said the story was too short. After the first few chapters, it couldn't end fast enough for me.

There were parts of this book that I did like (the beginning mostly). It could have been so much better with proper editing (typos and missing words galore), better dialogue and a storyline that worked, but by the end of it I was just pissed I had spent $3.99.

The first book in a series. I am finding that I love dragons. What I enjoyed about Orin is his restraint. He found himself attracted to Valencia and it wasn't an immediate action taken on that attraction. Her need for safety was put first. Valencia was a strong woman caught in a bad situation. I think she should have screamed more, freaked out more, or something. There were also some technical issues with the book. However, that being said, it was a cute story. I did enjoy it enough to keep going. On to book 2.

A solid 2.5 star read. To be honest, dragons aren't really my favorite, but I kept seeing people reading this series and enjoying it and since I have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, I thought I'd give it a go. It just didn't do it for me.

The first and only dragon series I've read, GA Aiken's (Shelly Laurenston's) Dragon Kin series, is AMAZING and funny with so much action you're never bored so this had a lot to live up to and it just didn't live up to that.

A Dragon's Promise was a solid shifter book and steamy romance novel. Orin was strong, silent, and ever the gentleman. From the moment he saw Valencia he was attracted to her, but never took advantage of the situation. There was also a lot of action and fighting, which I enjoy. I do wish I had more of a connection with Valencia. We didn't get to find out much about her except her age, where she grew up, and past occupation as an exotic dancer. I liked the world building and am interested in reading more about the dragon shifters.

I enjoyed this book alot. It's my first dragon shifter book and I love Orin and how protective he is of Valencia. He tried not falling for her and only giving her his protection. But there was something that drew him to her. I cant wait to.read the next book and see what adventures await me and I cant get enough of the dragons.

I don't recall ever reading an IR & Paranormal Romance novel that features a dragon. I loved this book for that unique quality alone. I liked Valencia and Orin, the conflict was also original, featuring other scary, crazy dragons with dangerous...parts. Also, I don't recall any inconsistencies that bothered me immensely.

I could see Ms. Rose expanding this into a great series since Orin has a number of brothers. I would purchase each one in a heartbeat.

I loved it. I wished that there more detail on how Valencia and Cathy ended being sold as slaves. What did they think they were supposed to be doing to make the money. Also I'm confused with what's going to happy with the aging for Valencia. Will she become immortal or will Orin start aging? Other than of course I wish it was longer, I have no complainants. I loved it.

Too formulac, needs to go more in depth

How/why are the half breeds in existence? Why are they all automatically evil? The characters are too simplistic and their motivations aren’t good. Why would the heroine happily fall in love with her rescuer? Why would the hero fall in love with the heroine so easily?

A quick read

I do like Dahlia's books however she could do with a better editor as there were lots of cases of omitted words and incorrect pronouns. But it did not detract from the pleasant reading. Both protagonists were very likeable though stubborn. Perhaps because it was a quick read the protagonists fell in love so quickly and it was pleasing that our female protagonist was not a weak damsel but showed tremendous courage when her lover was in danger. Fun read but too short. Great escapism story! Thank you, Dahlia!

It's been a while since I've read a Rose book but the last one I read was so good so I had high hopes for this one; this was a letdown.
Valencia is saved by Orin, a dragon and after spending time together they decide to be mates. It's not fated which is unusual since every dragon shifter book I've read is.
The drama and so many other aspects make no sense/ don't add up. I won't be reading the other books in this series 😒

Loving a Dragon

A full story in a few pages. When fast and supposedly easy money can cost your freedom and even your life. Valencia, found out the hard way what could happen when you go down the fast and easy path for money. I enjoyed reading this short story, because it told a full story on a few pages. Thanks, Dahlia!!!!

Dragons Are Hot

I liked the story. It was short but full of details. I took a star because of typos. I like reading the fantastic world of paranormal and romance you create.

Hot dragons

Orrin was just looking for a quiet spot alongside the Hudson River to change and fly. He instead saves a woman from the evil serpent Dragon that bought her at a slave auction. Valencia learns that dragons are real and Orrin is just the man for her. Book needs editing but excellent story and world building.

Pocas veces uno se topa con libros tan malos como este. Honestamente te deja sin ganas de seguir con la saga.
