I'm working on a research project, and while this isn't exactly what I was looking for, it's still got really good information in it for a first time parent. No pushing a standardized testing agenda, no crazy language that makes you look up every other word, just good ways to interact with and help and understand your child's development. I also like how short and concise it is so it doesn't overwhelm a parent. We all know how much time a parent has to read when a child comes into their lives.
This books title sounds very pretentious and seems like it would have you over scheduling your child. In fact the book leans towards attachment parenting and aims more for meeting needs. There were scads of development facts that put things in a different light: brain, pitch, sight development.
