Book one in the Turn Up the Heat series. Kasey Jacobs spends her days as a bookkeeper for a discount furniture store and her nights writing erotic romances, still waiting to meet the man who could ring her chimes. Maybe her new neighbor, Skyler Brody... Too bad she hasn't seen him since the day he moved in. Then Skyler, a cop recuperating from a gunshot wound, spies Kasey pleasuring herself in front of an open window and nearly trips over his tongue rushing to introduce himself. The sex is instantaneous and hot, with all the explosiveness of fireworks. But Kasey wants something Skyler isn't prepared to give. Perhaps they can find a way to each other's heart-if they don't burn themselves out with their nightly erotic activities.

This was a short and sexy little romance novella. I didn't like how things plot wise seemed to jump by leaps and bounds and how Skyler liked to keep things to himself without giving Kasey the benefit of the doubt. I thought it was a good introduction to the authors' writing style, though, and did enjoy the story overall, so if I can get my hands on the other books in the series, I will definitely read the rest of the series.
I happened to stumble upon this book while browsing through Amazon on my Kindle and well, it's not exactly the best book that I've read... but it was pretty hot. I don't have a thing for lust at first sight so it was rather a bit difficult for me to believe that Kasey was already falling in love with Skyler. Their relationship was based on sex... so I was kind of confused when things were suddenly getting serious so fast! There wasn't exactly any character development and the story was very vague. Overall, decent erotica book that could have been so much better, 3/5 stars.
The sex was smokin'. I can't deny that. I did think the relationship moved very fast but... well, that's to be expected, isn't it? Anywho. I guess if you're going to have a hunky neighbor catch you self-pleasuring from the privacy of your open living room, Sky's the type of guy you want.
This book was a free Kindle download I picked up 08/02/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.
As displayed on the cover, this was definitely a Quickie. A Quickie doesn't give a lot of room for character building or even building up tension, so this went sort of headlong into the sexing. We start out with Kasey inadvertently giving Skylar a show while she pleasures herself. She doesn't think he's home since there are never any lights on and does it with the blinds pulled up. (She's the only other house besides Skylar's on a cul-de-sac.) Next day, Skylar introduces himself to Kasey and offers to be a live test dummy -- basically propositions her for sex within about 10 minutes of meeting her! Luckily, he's god-like and she can't resist him, so there they go. Skylar won't open up about himself, which begins to be a problem.
The sex was steamy, though it was hard to really feel the attraction between the two main characters, probably because it was so short. It felt like it was more tell than show, if that makes sense. It was still a cute story and ended in an HEA, or at least a HFN.
I really enjoyed this free spirited female lead. She was not a push over the male lead thought her to be at the beginning. Yes, there is plenty of toe curling sex talked about in her stories she is creating by also acted out & then some. Yet, when our lead male does not want to share his private life she puts a stop to their party life. So, goes to show sex is not everything boys so what will he do? Is she worth the risk of his heart? A good free read.
Um. I didn't get this book at all. No doubt it's a novella but even in a novella, readers should be able to understand what motivates the characters to do what they do.
More could have been done I'm sure. But for now, well, just um.
Amazing. Beautifully written. I didn't like how the characters jumped into bed so damn quickly (literally within ten minutes of knowing each other) but it was a good read.
