Jennifer Crusie is the New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly bestselling author of twenty-three novels, one book of literary criticism, miscellaneous articles, essays, novellas, and short stories, and the editor of three essay anthologies.

She was born in Wapakoneta, a small town in Ohio, and then went on to live in a succession of other small towns in Ohio and New Jersey until her last move to a small town in Pennsylvania.  This may have had an impact on her work.

She has a BS in Art Education, an MA in literature, an MFA in fiction, and was ABD on her PhD when she started reading romances as part of her research into the differences between the ways men and women tell stories.  Writing a romance sounded like more fun than writing a dissertation, so she switched to fiction and never looked back.  Her collaborations with Bob Mayer have pretty much proved everything she was going to say in her dissertation anyway, so really, no need to finish that.

Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie: Love, love, love Crusie's stuff. This is a great one, too, in that it flips the May/December romance. Nina is 40 years old and recently divorced. Alex is 30 years old and a doctor. I loved their relationship, and how Nina comes to accept this younger man loves her, droop and all.

Prince Joe by Suzanne Brockmann: Joe is a Navy seal who is a double for a cowardly prince, so when the prince is threatened during a US tour, Joe is drafted to catch the assassin while pretending to be him. Veronica is the PR person assigned to help Joe. He is a little bit too good to be true...and besides, he fights back against the assassins while in his persona as the prince, which just wouldn't happen. But was a fun read.

The Millionaire's Indecent Proposal by Emilie Rose: Stacy's mother was killed by her abusive father (Stacy's, that is). Franco is obscenely wealthy, just like her father, and so she believes he will be obsessive and cruel, too, which is a little simplistic. He has a bet with his father that he cannot find a woman whom he would marry that would refuse his money. Of course, she takes the money to be his mistress, but none of his gifts, which confuses him. Liked the two characters, but the plotline was really, truly Harlequin-esque.

An Officer and a Gentleman by Rachel Lee: A woman soldier and her new Commanding officer fall in love. Liked this one because of Dare's personality, mostly...he 'saw' the real Andrea, the real woman beneath the uniform. There is a suspense plotline that is kind of weak, but liked them.

Keeping Annie Safe by Beverly Barton: DNF. Didn't like the writing style...too much telling.

A bundle of five Harlequin novels that bloggers chose as books that made them fall for romance. Exactly what it sounds like: the book you picked up at 14 that's really not actually so great, but it is great at 14.
