A great educational book for your children over the preschool age. My 6 yr old loved it. Lots of good information with beautiful pictures that will help keep children engaged. A great addition to any children's library.
• This book is a great choice for beginners, and tells the story of the death of Tutankhamen. This is a great step into getting children excited to read books that are nonfiction, • Teachers may use this for History, English • Grades K-3 • Individual students may read this during centers. • Small groups may read this together and discuss the sequence of events. • A whole class may read this book together then create their own mummy in class. They can walk through the steps of becoming mummified and write stories about what they learned in class. • This book is nonfiction • It is available on Ebooks, in libraries and in bookstores.
My first grader and I enjoyed reading this, and I have to rate it well if only because it's one I remember from my own schooling, and it really captured my imagination for ancient history. Just the magnitude of this treasure and the fact that these objects and Tut himself had been preserved for so long is mind-boggling, and as an adult I can better appreciate just what Tut's mummy must have meant to archaeology and culture at the time. I wish the cover photo had been clearer though.
We started this one as an eBook from the overdrive library but finished it as I finally got an old paperback copy. I definitely think that these early readers are better as physical books rather than landscape ebooks.
It was a good book except it got at least some information wrong. The very last sentence reads, "And at least one royal tomb has never been found. The tomb of King Tut's father." This is incorrect.
I thought maybe they were writing the book as if it was written when Tut's tomb was found and his father's tomb was found later; then it would be correct. However that isn't true. Tut's tomb was excavated in 1922. His father, Akhenaten, was found and had his tomb excavated in 1893/1894. Many years beforehand. Whether it was written in 1988 or 1922, this book is incorrect.
This is an excellent beginning chapter book for second to third grade readers. The illustrations and photos are excellent and help readers understand both the story of Tutankhamen and his death and mummification as well as Howard Carter's search for the tomb of King Tut. For those beginning chapter book readers who prefer non-fiction, this is a book that will definitely capture their interest.
Very interesting book, with age appropriate information in it. I liked the mix of actual photos and illustrations. Recommend to any children who are wanting to explore a different time and place in the world. I will probably look at reading more of these when my niece is a little older
Reference book of ancient Egypt and the lost Tomb of King Tut. There are drawn pictures illustrating what ancient Egyptians would have been like and there are photographs of Egyptian treasure and King Tut's Mummy at it's discovery.
Let's be honest. this book takes a fascinating subject and makes it dry. there is a mix of cartoon and real artifact, which is kind of baby Einstein in theory, but the presentation is dry.
read with my kids. we all learned a lot about the history behind tut's mummy... at an age appropriate level. a read aloud, part of our Ancient Egypt unit
This book is about Tut's Mummy. It has when Tut died and how they wrapped up his body as a mummy. Then it shows when this guy, he dug in Egypt with the permission of this other guy and he dug and he didn't find anything but he found some huts. And then he looked in the huts and in one hut he found a burial chamber. He looked inside the place where they put their belongings and then he studied the actual mummy case and cases and it took years to find the face.
