Jasmine knows that she wants to be a ballerina, but her strict father won't allow her to go to the ballet's Junior Associates auditions, until Jasmine gets the professional ballerina Anna Lane involved.
An author of series fiction for young readers, Ann Bryant was educated at the Royal College of Music, and worked for a number of years as a music teacher. She has also written for various BBC Schools Radio programmes, and composed the theme and incidental music for BBC TV's Tales of Aesop series.
Jasmine got her chance by Anna Lane to visit London as she attends in a Royal Ballet School and watch professional dancers, and she was very inspired and was criticized by a dance choreographer. Her dreams turned upside down when her Father stricts her once again to never join the audition and lets her continue her studies and become a doctor like him. Luckily her ballet friends Poppy and Rose are here to support Jasmine and have another chance to shine to dance again.
I found this story so intensely frustrating as Jasmine is offered a great opportunity and her father puts a veto on the idea without hearing her out. This is another great book from this series, again, a storyline that kids are able to relate to. I was anxious to find out the ending, and found myself enjoying this book far more than I expected I would.
I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it be read with children. This is a story of one girl and her dream to become a professional dancer but her parents want her to study hard in school so that she can go to a good college to become a doctor (like her father) or a lawyer. My daughter enjoyed this book as we read it together.
When jasmine gets picked to trail for the royal dance she is so exited but then remembers her dad doesn't like her doing ballet. Is this going to put her off or is her dad going to let her.Exiting ,fantastic read!
