I’m here in the beautiful mountain town of Laurel Falls for a month-long winter dog-sitting gig, and I can’t wait to spend my free time quietly reading by the fire. Or snuggled up with a hot mountain man, if I can find one. Too bad the next-door neighbor is a grump who yelled at me for something I didn’t even do.
He would have done nicely.
Knox
I can’t believe I mistook her for one of the neighbors I’m feuding with, but how was I to know she was just there house-sitting? From the way she gave me the cold shoulder at the coffee shop, there’s no chance I’m making progress there. Which is too bad, because she’s the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen.
But after she comes to my aid when I’m hurt cutting down a tree, maybe there’s a chance she'll forgive me.
Now I’m laser-focused on chopping down her defenses. And getting trapped together in this snowstorm is the perfect setting. I’m not stopping until I make her mine.

BookTok did me dirty with this one. I don’t even know where to start. There are tons of errors for one. Punctuation, grammatical, spelling, formatting, all of them…IN 60 PAGES. It’s ridiculous. What’s even more ridiculous however, is that the story and dialogue is so petulant and stupid you don’t even care that the writing is that of a 8th grader.
It sucks. Truly. I will never read this author again…the spice is subpar to boot. HARD PASS.
Super, super short read. Not that it was bad because it was short, it was just hard to get really any plot in under 100 pages. The grand gestures didn't seem genuine because there wasn't a history to rely on between the characters. They basically started living together, more or less, after a couple days of being aware of each other's existence? That just seems like a lot.

Knox is book 1 in the Laurel Falls Possessive Mountain Man Series by Cindy Smoke.
After I loved reading an ARC of one of her books, I had to start at the beginning and read this series. I am glad I did!
Evie was hired to dog sit in the town of Laurel Falls. She is out with the dogs when the grumpy neighbor comes over and yells at her for something she didn't do.
Knox thought he had the perfect home life until his neighbors moved in. They have yapping dogs that they let run onto his property, and then the final straw was cutting down some of his trees. When he sees the dogs in his yard again, he runs over, yelling at who he thinks is the wife. Only to find out later, it was his friend's gorgeous sister. When he goes over to apologize, he finds she is not only beautiful, but he is very much attracted to her. Later, after her hurts himself, felling a tree, and she comes to his aid, he finds he may want more for the first time ever.
This is a sweet romance. I love that it can be read in about an hour. I am enjoying this author's writing and can't wait to read more.
This book is a part of the Laurel Falls: Possessive Mountain Men series and focuses on Knox and Evie. Evie is in Laurel Falls to house and dog sit for a month when she meets her temporary neighbor. Their first meeting is the opposite of friendly because Knox mistakes Evie for his neighbors that he has been having issues with. When he realizes his mistake, he immediately jumps on the apology train and starts trying to win his woman over. It doesn’t take long for their chemistry to bubble over and them to jump all in into their relationship. This was a great story and a great start to the series.

Has the complexity of a teenager writing this for their creative writing class and throwing some “smut” in there to try to act mature but it doesn’t come across as anything such. The book also starts off as if it’s a second book to a series and not the first - characters being thrown in without any background explanations and interactions between the characters a work of complete and utter fantasy. Finished the book in less than two hours and I was not impressed to say the least. I will say that there are minimal grammar errors (few forgotten punctuation marks and grammar mistakes) so it’s easy to read without much confusion. So 1/5.
Let me just say that I absolutely LOVED this book! The story of Evie and Knox is so cute. Evie is working as a dog sitter for Knox's neighbors. Knox is having a bad day and takes his anger out on Evie, thinking that she's his neighbor. When he realizes that she is not, he apologizes immediately. They have such a carefree and almost no drama story that is so cute. I would totally recommend reading this story.

When Knox goes off on the neighbor about their dog, he has no idea that it is in fact his friend's sister house sitting for his neighbors. When she is introduced to Knox as Brax's sister, he realizes the mistake he made. Knox needs a redo. Will Evie allow Knox to apologize, and will this time around lead them to a relationship with possibilities? This story kept me glued to the pages!

Tiktok made me read this one and I figured it was only 62 pages so how bad could it be? The answer is VERY bad. The plot was nonexistent and the characters had absolutely no personality. The dialogue was so cringe I would have DNF'd this one if it wasn't so short to begin with. Typos everywhere which makes me wonder if this story ever saw an editor. The hour and a half I spent reading this mess is time I'll never get back. Thank god at least it was free on KU
Okay the premise of this books was good. And maybe I am just not in the right mental headspace to reading an insta love novella so it could be all me. However, this just seemed goofy. It was fine, like i dont have much to say about this book besides it was fine. Like if it was a meal i was eating at a restaurant likeI would definitely eat the meal but I wouldnt order it again.
I'll be honest, I really struggled with this. DNF at 49 %. I wanted to love it, the insta attraction paired with *that* scene in the bathroom but I physically couldn't. Things moved too fast and I just didn't enjoy the writing style at all. Really sad because I so wanted to love this.
This is the first ever sexy book I have read, and I have to admit ... I kinda liked it. I kinda liked it a lot. Maybe I'll read a lot more of these. Maybe my life is just pretty dull. Maybe I need to become the cave man dude or whatever (or at least pretend I can be) Sigh ....
Ok so definitely not an enemy's to lovers, personally i don't think this was the book for me, however if you like insta love it is definitely that and you will enjoy this book to the fullest, the spice was also very nice 😌.
Exactly what you’d expect it to be. A quick spicy instalove book about a grumpy mountain man and a curvy girl who’s just visiting. But this one had the added bonus of our grumpy mountain man not making the best first impression.
Honestly my fault for reading this. I knew it was steamy before reading, though I assumed I'd be able to skip over it, I couldnt it's ingrained into the book. The dialogue is so stale and there are obvious grammar errors. This had the opportunity to be a cute read.
Here I go grabbing this book because it seems like a short, sweet little thing to entertain me for a bit.... and I'm hit with a grudge holding mafia/gangster family running an illegal fighting ring who's planning to k1ll multiple people.
What a dumb book description that's not even accurate.
