This timeless collection of ideas and strategies will serve as a "mentor-in-a-book" that teachers can refer to and benefit from throughout their careers.
This book is already 20 years old, so it has quaint elements such as a reference to chalk, but the advice is useful and entertainingly presented. Sure I’d rather read a novel, but it’s helping me be ready for fall.
My mom gave me this book as a Christmas present during my first year of teaching. It was light-hearted and fun. I can't say that I successfully implemented any of her tips, though that was probably more due to my lack of trying than much ineffectiveness on her part. Her ideas about building a culture of mutual accountability are ideal, but they don't seem terribly practical.
