Not what I expected, but I definitely enjoyed the listen. So I will be forced to read the rest of the series, the author sure did pull a fast one by putting just book one on audio. I won't complain because it was a good listen. The ending messed me up...even though it was a beginning as well. How much more destructive can Gabriella be and will Ivana ever break free, those are the questions I'm hoping to uncover during the series.
I read this book on a recommendation from a few friends and I'm really pleased that I did.. wow.. this book was crazy from beginning to end. You know that you have a great book on your hands when you try your hardest to stay up all night just to finish.. I'm a little behind in the series obviously but I'm sure the next books will be just as good. No regrets here.
This was my first time reading anything by Reign and I must say it was a great read. She had me from the beginning. I listened to the book straight through.
Yvonna's world came crashing down the night her father murdered the love of her life, Bilal Santana. A lot takes place around this time and she discovers who her real friends were. Her anger gets the best of her. After recuperating from a major car accident, she leaves for Baltimore. While in Baltimore, she is fueled by getting revenge on those who wronged her. Four years later, she returns to DC to complete her mission.
Yvonna is the wrong one to cross. You will be blown away by the ending. There's a lot more behind Yvonna's rage.
this book was so crazy.i would like to think no one has multiple personalities as the girl in the book. some of the scenes in the book were so disgusting. it was almost hard to read it was so much killing.i had to stop and think what kind of person is the author to write such a story.
My favorite book is Shytlist by reign. It will have you twisting and turning in your seats. When I walked into the bookstore the “title” caught my eye, so much was going through my head at the time like what could this book possibly be about with a title like this. The cover of the book had a list of names on them that were crossed out with blood, and it had a quote on the front as while written in bold that stated “Be Careful who you cross”. In addition, the main character of the story is Yvonna and she has multiple personalities and she’s out to get “revenge” for those who “betrayed” her.
Yvonna is nineteen years old, and ghetto living on the southeast side of D.C. her six-year-old sister Jesse and senile father resides with her at her nice size apartment. Then Yvonna world is crashed after the brutal murder of her high school sweetheart Bilal Santana, at the hands of her own father. As, I was reading this book it was nothing but blood, and lies. Yvonna’s best friend Sabrina was sleep around with her deceased boyfriend, and got pregnant, and her other best friend Cream knew they were sleeping around with each other, and she felt betrayed. Although, it really hurt Yvonna feelings because she never thought her friends would do something so harsh behind her back, but what really hurt Yvonna was her friend have a baby by her deceased boyfriend, and she couldn’t have any kids. So Yvonna told herself I must get back Revenge.
Remember in the beginning, when I mention in the front of the book there was a quote that said, “Be Careful who you cross”. Sabrina should’ve never betrayed her best friend Yvonna because she knows how she is. One day Yvonna asks Sabrina to go out with her to a party, and she says she don’t have a baby sitter but the kids are sleep, and Yvonna persuades her to live the kids in the house cause they not going to be out long. While there out Yvonna calls the police and tells them that she left her kids in the house by themselves, and DHS comes and take her kids away from her. Yvonna knew that was going to be the worst punishment ever because Sabrina loves them to death. The only thing that really matters to Yvonna is as long as Sabrina feels guilty and hurt about leaving her children in the house to go out. Don’t forget about her other friend Cream, she was sleeping with this girl baby father that lives in Yvonna apartment building, and Yvonna set her up at the playground one day the girl came and beat Cream up real bad and she had to go to the hospital, and all Yvonna wanted for her was to feel pain.
Have you ever met someone with multiple personalities? Well, Yvonna is the perfect example of someone with multiple personalities. She has this best friend name Gabrielle who’s very beautiful and she’s the hard-core version of Yvonna. One day they decided to go to Friday’s restaurant for lunch and their waitress was very nasty and she started off by giving them there drinks and Gabrielle so happen to look in it and it had fizz in it, and Gabrielle was about to snap. So, the only way Yvonna knew she could prove it wasn’t spit was to drink it, and she did. The next day it was breaking news on the Television that reported a waitress at the Friday’s Restaurant was killed last night, and Gabrielle did it. Yvonna has split personalities and she really killed the waitress at Friday restaurant, her high school sweetheart, and her father at the age of ten. She thinks she’s Gabrielle who is made believe, and her father who she killed over nine years ago.
In Conclusion, Shytlist is the best book I’ve ever read. It has so much violence, sex, lies, and blood. That’s what I like most about the book because it has so much drama and it makes me want to read more. This book is mostly about revenge, and Yvonna is the wrong one to betray because she’ll get you back as twice as bad as you got her. So, if you want to find out some more about the dirty secrets that are hidden in this book then, I suggest you to read it. I can’t wait to read Shytlist II because at the end of Shytlist she made another list of people to get back revenge.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat. I had to double back a few times to make sure I did not miss something. Reign has out done herself. On to part 2.
Yvonna discovers that she was betrayed in the worst way by those that claim to love and care for her. Not able to get beyond that betrayal, her shyt list is born. One by one she plans to handle those on her list. She is judge, jury and, if need be, executioner.
From the onset this book had so much going for it. I loved the cover, the title and the concept. I also liked the idea of Cartel Publications paying homage to other authors that paved the way. Unfortunately, the execution of the story itself didn't hit the mark. Maybe I've read one too many books or watched too many movies, but I found "The Shyt List" to be very predictable. Once I knew the direction the story was going, I found myself, as I continued to read, thinking of what the author could have done better. Also, there were editing issues. "The Shyt List" is a very quick read and I believe that Reign has potential but it was not reached fully in this novel. Hopefully with the aid and direction of an editor, Reign's sophomore release will better display her talent.
It was a very interesting and different book that I've read in a while. There was no slow parts, everything jumped right into the point, and I don't know if that is was made the story more exciting, or if it truly rushed a great plot. Whatever you do, pleaseeee don't call Yvonna "crazy". I think her character was well developed, and the "shyt" she did was just unbelievable and made me wonder if I ever did anything to her, and she is just a made up character! But overall, I am excited about reading the next book.
Man no wrods to explain his book. I thought i was going krazy thati culdnt put it down i read i 2 and 3 back to back over night because i was to excited to keep reading. I am a big fan if u didnt read it you need to step your game up because iam not about to spoil it for you.
Ugh so I wrote a review and gave this book one star. I felt like this book was so poorly wrote. A teenager could have wrote this story line better. I felt like this book played out in my head like a bad episode of those animated cartoons on adult swim. The dialogue, the characters, the storyline..it had me rolling my eyes the entire time!!!!! But gosh darn it….:the last 8 pages?!?!! AHHHHH IT HAD ME HOOKED!!!!!!! HOOK LINE AND SINKER!! Darn it now I’m stuck reading the other 5…..because IM STUCK and I NEED TO KNOW what happens!!! I am SHOOK! Soooo ended up giving this book 5 stars. Only because of the last 8 pages. Up until then. Lame. But man the build up and the draw up until then was actually pretty darn amazing and thought out!
THIS IS WHEN I CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT REIGN WAS ACTUALLY THE FABULOUS MS.T. STYLES. ABOUT 5 OR SO YEARS AGO I MAINLY PERUSED THIS BOOK BUT FOUND IT INTRIGUING ENOUGH TO REVIEW. VERY INTRIGUING ATLEAST THE FIRST THREE OR SO BOOKS. I WASN'T SURE WHAT TO THINK OF THE SERIES PAST THIS ONE. MAYBE ONE DAY WHEN I'M WAITING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR JURY DUTY I'LL TAKE THIS & THE REST OF THE SERIES WITH ME TO PERUSE AS I WAIT.
I have mixed up feelings about this book. At first I wasn't feeling it. I was slightly confused until I realized that the main character was as crazy as all get out. She was trouble from the beginning. But her childhood most likely contributed to that. All in all I wont be reading the next installment in the series.
Reign comes through with another good one! Yvonna has multiple personalities. She was molested as a child by her father. She goes on a killing spree to seek revenge for people who have hurt her; which she placed on her "Shyt List". Once she cleared her list, she created another one cause she wasn't finished seeking revenge. On to book #2.
I listened to the audio and really enjoyed it.... Lots of twists and turns and definitely a great listen. There were a few editing issues and some of the scenes were a little unrealistic but overall really good.
Hopefully the other parts will eventually come to audio
I started getting suspicious of Yvonne’s alter egos when nobody else could see them but that ending turned me for a loop. Gabby is out for blood and determined to see that her list is crossed off
Book got interested in towards the end it was kind of slow starting but eventually it made me want to finish the book and I did I like the end of better than I did the beginning,
So this was an unexpected read as I kept seeing it play out as a movie. Someone please make this a movie! Its that damn good. For only 200 or so pages, it wasn't until somewhere around page 150ish I realized the real plot. Very well done!
This book was wild lol I love the way that the author describe things it kind of feel like I was there. I can’t believe I was reading this book when I was younger because I’m wild shit happened in his book. I am going to continue series. I just don’t know when
This book was not what I expected but I caught on very early in the book what was happening. This was a great urban fiction book. It had some grammatical errors but nothing you can’t get around. I loved the “two” endings that the book had.
1. I liked it 2. The celebrity name-dropping in this title is just ridiculous. I know urban fiction writers do it all the time, like they’re all copying each other’s homework. But this is taking it TOO far.
If you’re into thrillers I recommend this book, you think you know but you have. I idea. Sometimes revenge and karma go hand and hand. If you’re into that, this is the book for you.
This book was hard to read with how it was written and some trigger warnings, but overall the storyline was good. Some parts felt a little rushed or confusing on how it really happened, but I still found it to be a good read.
This was an excellent book to read. Some funny moments and a lot of plot twist! I really enjoyed the way this story developed. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this story plays out in the other books of this series.
