Boyer is a wonderful author of books on folklore and hauntings. He doesn't just compile lists of random ghost stories and spine-chilling campfire tales that no one remembers where they came from. He shows the stories he tells as living stories... the stories he chooses to publish are the ones that he feels reflect the history of the region and the attitude of the people now living here. His two books about Wisconsin ghosts (the second being "Northern Frights"... probably the better of the two) have given me a new appreciation for my homeland and it's native lore.

This book is a fun read, the stories downright chilling. It made me want to go out looking ghosts at the old haunts that still exist today. At dusk...when the light is waning. Boo!
