This specific book deals with marriage, courage, abuse, healing, strength, and new faith. The lives of the characters are so real and so easily comparable to real life that it is extremely difficult to remember that it supposedly just a fictitious story in novel format.

Cassie is a woman who was brought up in a closed environment where she was unable to think or be for herself. She was then thrust into a life where the static existence that she formerly knew was practically ripped to shreds as piece by piece she learned to think for herself. Belle is a wounded woman who has endured so much pain at the form of broken hearts in marriage that any hope she once had has dwindled. It is now time for her to either accept the painful defeat of life or find hope in an attempt of grace in action. This book tells the story of Cassie and gets a good foot in the door of the tale behind Belle's life. (Cannot wait for another book in the series to find out more!!)

Many people know and think about abuse and how it is a physical pain, but often they forget about the emotional and spiritual scars that are endured as well. Within this tale, various characters find ways of adapting and moving forward in life from years of proverbial abuse. Some make the right decisions and some do not. Watching these characters and their mistakes and correct actions can cause a reader to grow as well.

This book is filled to the brim with situations where a reader can learn through someone's pain instead of their own. Also in the style of Mary Connealy, conversations and events fill a reader full to giggling whether they want to or not. Their were points where I'm not sure if I should blame my own pregnancy or not for the giggles brought me to tears. For me personally, another best part of this book was reading about two characters and their own experiences with pregnancy. This is the first book with a birth that I have been blessed to read that was more than she's pregnant and in the last chapter has the babe. I was enthralled by the experiences and interactions that it proved to provide with neighbors and spouses.

And now, I impatiently wait for the next book in the series or other from the imaginations of Mary Connealy!!

The Husband Tree, #2
It is quite a fact that I have yet to come across a book by Mary Connealy that I did not like. I loved the Lassoed in Texas series and I am enamored with the Montana Marriages series. It is baffling to me how each and every story can grip you further. The catty whit is so amusing and the characters are lovely. The issues dealing with real world problems are incredibly woven in a western historical standpoint and cause a reader to truly think. The growing love between protagonists is breathe taking and palpable.

Belle Tanner is not your average western woman, but a woman not to be challenged. She has had her fill of husbands, as is shown by the occupied dirt surrounding three sides of the Husband Tree. The last thing that she wants is another husband nor a romance that leads that general direction. Silas is man with two near misses when it comes to marriage and not looking for another chance. When time has run out and a cattle drive has to be made by Belle and her four daughters, the drifter Silas is her only hope. What God brings together, let no man put apart.

As a mother of a new baby reading and watching Belle's days with her girls especially her infant is amazing. I cannot imagine nursing while riding on horseback, much less changing a diaper in mid gallop without missing a beat. I am thrilled and enchanted to the bone by the tale devised by Mary's imagination and I cannot wait for the third installment in the series The Wildflower Bride. In this book you get a taste for what might be in for Wade Sawyer and Abby Lind. *sigh* Anticipation.

Wildflower Bride, #3
As the third book in the Montana Marriages series, "Wildflower Bride" brings another comedic romance off the pages an into the imagination of readers. Although starting the novel knowing that this was a story of a character that I despised in the beginning of the series it was amazing how author Mary Connealy was able to bring a character's personality into favor for me. The first two books in this series are my favorite from Mary so far. I cannot wait for future stories!

Wade Sawyer, a man changed finds himself in love with Abby Linscott also known as Glowing Sun. Observing the changes in Wade's behavior and soul makes a painful yet hopeful example that anyone can change. Abby born to a white family yet raised by a Flathead Indian tribe after the early death of her birth family then finds herself alone again after the massacre of her tribe. Through the strength of God, Wade is able to return home to face his abusive father and Abby is given the opportunity to open her heart and trust that she will not be alone again. These pages provide a hopeful story of love that will entertain. Montana RoseThe Husband TreeWildflower Bride

Love in Montana

I loved each story. Husband Tree is my favorite. I liked the transformation of one of the evil characters. Only God could do something like that.

This book should be a three and half overall. First of all, I found the Author's note and dedication to the first book, Montana Rose, to be misleading as it was to Janette Oke. It has been awhile since I have read a Janette Oke but I do not recall the violence. In saying violence, it is not gory and I felt Ms. Connealy did a better job of describing the west more realistically than Janette Oke has done. Don't expect the same tone even though Oke and Connealy are Christian authors.
Montana Rose, which is first in the trilogy, is about a naive, sheltered girl who was left bankrupt, pregnant and clueless to the harsh West. It is her story of learning to be herself after being beaten into a shell of a person by her much older controlling husband. The man who married her to save her from the fighting men, anxious to be her husband, is just what she needs.
The Husband Tree adds a dose of hilarity to the trio. A woman who buries three husbands will make anyone raise an eyebrow or two. Her gun-toting, spur jingling sass would make many an Eastern man run in the other direction. But a woman with a well ran ranch in unsettled Montana has the men flocking to her. When she decides to give up on the idea of even needing a husband, she finds a decent one in Silas. But he won't put up with her sass and her daughters won't put up with another husband. Makes for good banter between the two.
Finally, the last book is the tale of Wade, a wild admirer from the Montana Rose. He finds God at the end of the Montana Rose but has a strange desire to rescue a woman to fill needed. Instead, he finds himself in love with a woman raised among Flathead Indians. When her adopted family dies in a massacre, he is there to help but the little spitfire hardly needs rescuing. Their path to settlement life again is filled with cattle rustlers and the men who massacred her tribe. Both are out to kill them.
All of the books had entertaining qualities. However, there were times in the first two books that the plot dragged. The sassy heroine saved The Husband Tree. The third book, Wildflower Bride was much more action packed but it repeated parts from the first two stories that I did not think were necessary even if you read them individually. Nice weekend read, but one that could be put down after a while.

Fairly good

Having read multiple novella collections, I forgot what trilogy meant. Overall the books were good; however I should have taken a break between each one. By the time I got to the third one the plot seemed somewhat contrived. If you read this trilogy, I strongly suggest you take a brief pause between the second and third book. The second one is a very eye-opening book that makes one realize the importance of marrying for the right reasons and what can happen when you do not. Due to how my own life went, I found it to be very believable, albeit without children.

Montana Marriages

Another great series by Mary Connealy. Cassie was the most obedient wife, but Red wanted more. Belle is a strong woman who was used to doing things herself, with a baby strapped to her back. She didn't need another husband, but Silas showed her otherwise. Abby was rescued buy an Indian tribe when her white family died of fever. Then a massacre happened and Wade came running to the rescue. Three strong women and the men who loved them. Good clean romance.

Mary Connealy Master of the Human Condition

Mary Connealy you have captured the essence of the human condition and the spiritual solution in each one of these stories. The awkwardness, the emotion, the fumbling, the fears and false conclusions so common to the life experience. The presence of innate goodness in the characters and the hand of God above all.

Mary Connealy is the Best

I love every one of her books and scoop them up as quick as she writes them! Her characters are so easy to love, except for the bad guys, and Mary writes them redeemable too. Her men love their women and her women love their men. Lots of humor and strength and humanity. Thanks Mary!!

The author has an issue with picking and choosing what Bible commands she wants to obey herself. As per her writings.

First of all Psalms is clear about violence. If her books were movie rated, they would be rated R, ones I avoid because of the violence in them. (Psalm 11:5) . . ."God examines the righteous one as well as the wicked one; He hates anyone who loves violence."

Also the attitude of the wives in the book, is a far cry from how God asks us wives to treat our husbands. (Ephesians 5:22-24) . . ."Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, because a husband is head of his wife just as the Christ is head of the congregation, he being a savior of this body. In fact, as the congregation is in subjection to the Christ, wives should also be to their husbands in everything."

And how we all are to put on a personality like Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 4:22-24) . . ."You were taught to put away the old personality that conforms to your former course of conduct and that is being corrupted according to its deceptive desires. And you should continue to be made new in your dominant mental attitude, and should put on the new personality that was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty."
(Ephesians 4:31, 32) . . ."Put away from yourselves every kind of malicious bitterness, anger, wrath, screaming, and abusive speech, as well as everything injurious. But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you."

She can go through her books and add a few " I believe in God' "I read the Bible", getting her a publisher beyond the dime store novels. Yet none of her characters really act in a manner, by their actions and attitudes they believe in God. Oh maybe for show, but not in their heart.
Every one of her female characters are gun toting, knife
wielding or both. they trust themselves to provide, not the God they claim to trust. (Ephesians 4:18, 19) . . ."They are in darkness mentally and alienated from the life that belongs to God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the insensitivity of their hearts. Having gone past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to brazen conduct to practice every sort of uncleanness with greediness."

Her characters remind me of those Jesus mentioned.
(John 8:44) . . ."You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie."

I wish I could give her negative rating, because she will lead the average reader to lies about God, and will mislead them to how God feels about violence. And how wives and husbands should really treat each other. (all of her husband's do not take the lead, as being the head. The wives look at them, even the 'heros' and treat them like idiots.) Clearly against how God wants wives to treat their husbands and how husbands treat their wives. See verses above please.

A writer simply cannot really represent God, if they represent the Satanic attitudes prevalent in the world today. (1 John 3:8) . . ."The one who practices sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning."
(1 John 4:5) . . ."They originate with the world; that is why they speak what originates with the world and the world listens to them."
(1 John 5:19) . . ."but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one."

Though I enjoyed this read, like my previous experience with Connealy's books, I find that she abuses kisses. At times, they are used to distract other characters and disorient them. It's just too much and she could have have something else happen. Her style of story telling is enjoyable though and I found myself engaged the entire time.

Of the three stories, I preferred the Husband Tree. I liked the interaction between Belle and Silas as both are stubborn.
