یکی از پررنگ ترین خاطرات کودکیم، برمیگرده به ۹ سالگی، که یه شب پدرم با ده جلد کتاب اومد خونه، جلد های نازکی از مجموع داستان های برادران گریم. حقیقتش بعد از اون خاطرم نیست که پدرم با هدیه دادن کتابی اینطور سوپرایزم کرده باشه اما خاطره اون شب احتمالا تا آخرین روز زندگیم تو ذهنم بمونه.
امروز بعد از ۱۷ سال تونستم یکی از همون داستانا رو به زبان اصلی بخونم.

My grandmother used to tell us this story but in a very very funny way and all that time i thought that she had imagined it. now i am nostalgic and happy at the same time.

When I first read this back in May, I gave it on 2/5 stars, not really enjoying it. Reading it again now, I've upped my review to 3/5 stars.
The Valiant Little Tailor really is what you expect from the Brothers Grimm. A smart, but wicked character, who cheats their way to fame, or fortune, or both, and a wicked plot to get rid of them.
Still, I expected better from this. The story is good right up until the end of it, where it all hits 0 speed and just falls flat. This really, really went well and I was enjoying it, and then the ending just... ruined it.
It's a shame when Brothers Grimm works goes like this, they normally have a really strong solid story throughout the whole story, and this one just really didn't have it. I'm really disappointed, honestly.
I upped my rating purely because last time I read it I was exhausted, and didn't really appreciate it fully, and this is a clever story. Again, a let down ending.

A tailor outwits giants with his needle, his thread, and his head. When the giants, for example, hear that the tailor has killed 7 flies with one blow, they think he's referring to men when it was really just flies.

I my opinion this tailor had a very inflated ego. But maybe that's a good thing?
A tailor smacks 7 flies in one smack and that's where the whole "Seven in one blow" comes from.
He then decides he needs a bigger shop and goes around the countryside looking for this and that.
He battles giants, a bore, a unicorn, and even a King (in a way) to get what he wants. He seriously goes from rags to riches!!

I have the complete set of the Grimm Fairy-Tales, and there are so many that I haven’t read! They are very short, as one would know, so I have decided to read each one and give them a review. Some are very vulgar, some are very cute and some don’t even make sense. Some of them are well known fairy-tales and some have never been told. Some are fairy-tales we know but are not the same because they have been downplayed for the children.
This story has no moral unless “getting away with trickery and lying” is a moral and I missed the memo.
This tailor took down seven bugs and started to feel very proud of himself. He then went around the town to giants, kings, unicorns, and the like and fooled them into thinking he was the greatest thing to walk the planet. It was an okay story but really, it didn’t have any moral to it.
Also I hate when book titles aren't capitalized on this website (or anywhere else).

Este cuento tiene a uno de los protagonistas más inteligentes, o mejor dicho, listillos, de todos los cuentos que he leído. Creo que deberían cambiar el título por «El sastrecillo listillo» en vez de «El sastrecillo valiente». Tan sólo lo veo comparable al ingenio del Gato con Botas, y he de decir que me ha recordado bastante a este personaje.
Me ha gustado: un ejemplo de que la inteligencia es una de las cualidades más importantes que alguien puede tener y que nos hará llegar más lejos.

I did not like the message this book sends to kids. The tailor lies & deceives everyone and ends up rich. It may be realistic, but I wouldn't want children thinking that's the way to get what you want.

Într-o zi, apucând la iuţeală o bucată de stofă, un croitoraş plesni nişte muşte sâcâitoare care-l bâzâiau. Şi, când ridică bucata de stofă, ce să vezi? Şapte dintre ele zăceau moarte! Ceea ce-l făcu pe croitoraş să se umfle în pene. Îşi croi repede un brâu, pe care brodă următoarele: „ŞAPTE DINTR-0 LOVITURĂ!".
Apoi, omul nostru plecă în lume, cu gând să se laude în tot locul cu fapta lui de vitejie. Nu trecu mult şi întâlni o pocitanie de uriaş, care-şi râse însă de el.
— Ia nu mai râde ca un apucat! Mai bine citeşte ce scrie aici pe brâul pe care-l port, ca să pricepi cu cine ai de-a face!
Şi, pe măsură ce citea, uriaşului îi cam intra frica-n oase, căci se întreba dacă nu cumva era vorba de şapte oameni omorâţi din lovitura aceea. Aşa că se hotărî să afle cât de puternic era croitoraşul cu adevărat. Apucă de pe jos un pietroi şi îl strânse în mâini până ce începu să picure apă dintr-însul...
— Ei, eşti şi tu în stare de-aşa ceva, slăbănogule? Întrebă uriaşul, râzând în hohote.

Dar, în vreme ce mânca ţinându-se de-o creangă, uriaşul cel viclean dădu drumul pomului din strânsoare şi zvârrr!, croitoraşul nostru zbură cât colo.

Сказка очень здорово проиллюстрирована Антоном Ломаевым.
Сказки братьев Гримм, это как по мне отдельный вид мифологических сюжетов, не совсем сказки и не совсем мифы. В не переработанных изданиях эти сказки довольно злые и кровожадные, в том плане что в них зачастую присутствует не счастливый конец.
Главный герой – портняжка, однажды убив семерых мух одним ударом сразу преисполняется уверенности что он богатырь и пускается на поиски приключений, по ходу дела выезжая ха хитрости, ловкости и удаче из многих бед и неприятностей. В итоге женится на принцессе и становится королем. Для меня в этой сказке основной моралью является смелость и готовность идти на риск. Даже если ты беден, но при этом смел и ловок ты можешь стать королем, а по-другому можно сказать и так – нет ничего невозмож��ого.
Единственное что по законам природы всякое везенье должно рано или поздно закончится и только в сказках оно может происходить вечно.

The Valiant Little Tailor uses his cleverness and cunning to escape those who would have the upper hand over him. He eventually manages to become a king in the end.
Nobody seems to like him much though, except for the king's amour-bearer. Apart from the tailor's exploits we never really get to see much interaction between him and other people. It's probably his boast about killing seven in one blow. It probably got old pretty fast and annoyed many people.

Je l'ai lu en tant que livre audio.
Je l'ai pas trouvé incroyable, mais il était pas trop mal non plus. Après ça reste un compte qui se lit majoritairement quand on est petit, en tout cas c'est le genre d'histoires que je lisais petite.
Il n'y a pas grand chose à dire sauf que la morale est que le plus important dans la vie c'est d'être futé.
C'est une lecture qui fait passer le temps.

I remember reading variations of this and enjoying Disney's animated short tale. This is a darker variation than I've read or seen before, with several differences. For starters, the tailor here, rather than being the reluctant hero, is all too eager to face danger and is a bit of a braggart. The giants are more side-stories in a bigger story.

This is the famous tale of a clever Tailor who killed "Seven With One Blow." The fact that it was seven flies is only applicable if you care about unimportant details, not the confident man who makes the claim.

Grimm shows smart is mightier than strength. And does it matter to what station in live we've been born... if we're smart, we can take advantage of any situation life throws at us. Bravo Grimm... your stories Should have been taught later in life to those ready to take their meaning.

I liked this story though for once the naughty person didn't get his come-uppance. Using his wits he fooled everyone and got rewarded.

Reminds me quite a bit of norwegian fairytales, with the giants and getting the princess + half the kingdom if you can do such and such tasks (or pretend to). Not exactly a good moral though.
