For a thousand years she has haunted him—Ariana, Queen of the linas, a beauty of mist and light. His love, his life mate . . . Kougar believed her lost to him forever, until the truth of her stunning betrayal left him bitter and hungry for revenge. Now she alone holds the power to save two trapped and desperate Feral Warriors.
Ariana, caught in a deadly battle of her own, is neither the soulless creature Kougar believes her to be nor the savior he seeks.

The one person who holds the power to save two trapped Feral Warriors is the same woman who broke Kougar's heart and their mating bond a thousand years ago. The love and heartbreaking loss Kougar felt for Ariana is now replaced with anger and contempt for letting him believe she has been dead. Whether she wants to or not, he will make her help his fellow Ferals. Ariana, queen of the Ilinas, did what she had to a thousand years ago to save the remaining of her kind and Kougar's life. The threat to them all is more dangerous than ever. Seeing Kougar again reminds her that she has never stopped loving the strong warrior. It's a love that must remain hidden. The lives of many depend on it.
I had a serious dislike of Ariana at first. By breaking her bond with Kougar, she not only hurt him physically but emotionally. Then I learned why she did it. A Mage used the strong disapproval of one of the Ilinas for Kougar and Ariana's bonding as a way to hurt them all. With her people dying, Ariana had to make the decision to hide her maidens away and sever the bond between her and Kougar. She loved Kougar and it took everything in her to stay away from him. I felt for her and respected her for the difficult choice she had to make.
Kougar has lived in a state of numbness since the break of his mating bond. When it was remade at the end of the last book, it was as if a fire was lit inside him. He is rightfully angry at Ariana and plans to force her to save his fellow Feral, not caring about the cost to Ariana or the Ilinas. They quickly realize that their people must work together in order to save each other. This causes Ariana to spend more time with Kougar and the love and lust they once had comes back. Kougar begins to understand why Ariana did what she did. He opens up to her more than he did when they were first mated. Kougar is a mystery wrapped in a sexy alpha package and he's hard not to love.
When Kougar talks to Ariana about his early years, we learn more about what happened when the Mages and Therians combined their power to defeat Satanan and his horde. I found it all really interesting because he wasn't retailing it from a story someone shared with him. He was talking about what he saw first hand and it gave a more personal touch to the tale instead of it feeling like I was reading it from an old text.
The Mage who caused all the pain between Ariana and Kougar has not given up his hold on the Ilinas. Through the bond between Ariana and Kougar, the Mage will use all his power to destroy the Feral Warriors, paving the way from the release of Satanan. Pamela Palmer's latest is full of passion, action and heartache. The race to save the lives of Hawke and Tighe is a nail biter. There was a subplot involving the badly scared Wolfe and a human that needed her memories erased. I really hope that means that Wolfe's books is next because the way things were left off really had me wanting to read his story. I say this each time I finish a book but this is my favorite in the Feral Warriors series. -Stephanie
Imagine that you get married but your family and his are against the marriage. Your cousin takes it upon herself to stop the marriage and allies herself with husband’s very dangerous enemy, who then poisons you and your family. Instead of asking your husband for help, you decide to fake your own death to nurse your family. You never even wonder if your husband suffered with your death and never bother to find out even though you have to live close by. Instead years and years pass in which you trust your mosquito brained cousin (the one that poisoned you) to find the cure. You never blame Mosquito Brain for what happened; instead you blame your husband. How dare he fall in love with you when their families didn’t agree?? It’s his fault his enemy attacked her family!
Then when your husband finds out that you’re alive, you’re shocked to learn that you crippled him emotionally and he even had to give up his job because of all his suffering. When he asks you why you didn’t ask for help over the years, your answer is “I don’t know”. It never occurred to you that your husband might have a clue how to fight his own enemy and that he could have been a great asset. You just figured that the best way to find the poison is to ask Mosquito Brain to hunt down your husband's enemy and you keep trusting her to deliver, even though she fails time and time again. Smart woman that you are, you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Great work, genius!
Can you tell why I’m having problems with this book? I so wish another woman would sweep the hero off his feet and leave the heroine in the lurch. How dare she leave a man stewing for 1000 years and then claim she loves him? Give me a break!! I can understand that her first responsibility was to her people but no way should she have waited that long to contact poor Kougar.
At the end, she agreed she did the wrong thing but it was implied he was at fault too because “he didn’t open up to her.” And my question is… if she didn’t like how her marriage was going, why didn’t she say something? She wasn’t a little girl, she could have spoken up! Him not telling you about his past is not even in the same league as you faking your own death, you freaking moron.
The next book seems to be a rehashing of book 1 so I may wait a while before listening.
A little disappointed, I waited for this book and was excited to read it, but it was a bit of a let down, I actually skipped pages. I didn't like that she didn't have a good reason for staying away from him for so long. The poor guy has been through hell and still forgives her, which made me like him, but I felt as if she didn't really deserve him. It's good, the love scenes are good, but I don't like the heroine that much. Glad Tighe and Hawk are ok.
Read for the 2015 TBR Challenge--October--Paranormal Romance/Romantic Suspense. The challenge is hosted by Wendy the Super Librarian.
I devoured the first three books in the Feral Warriors series when they first came out six years ago. Since then I have been meaning to get caught up, but my obsession with paranormal romance has waned. I have had Hunger Untamed on my bookshelf since its release and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get back into this world.
The Feral Warriors are the soldiers/guardians of an immortal race known as the Therians. They are given supernatural abilities through animal spirits and are even able to shift into those animals at will. The Therian race has been battling against the ghostly Daemons for years and this series takes place during the most recent skirmishes. Kougar is the oldest of the Feral Warriors and he has been a silent observer for most of the books. Hunger Untamed throws him into the spotlight and allows him to finally find his happy ending with his long-lost mate, Ariana.
Ariana and Kougar met and mated over a thousand years ago despite the misgivings of both her race, the Ilianas, and his. They had a few blissful years together until something terrible occurred and Kougar was left believing that Ariana had passed away. So one can understand him being pissed off when he discovers that she is actually alive and had tried to destroy their mating bond herself. He doesn't plan on confronting her with his anger until two of the Ferals (Tighe and Hawke) are taken into the same spirit trap that had killed many warriors centuries ago. Ariana and her misting abilities seem to be the only savior for the warriors so Kougar must finally come face to face with his mate.
I had high expectations for this book since I enjoyed Kougar as a side character in the earlier stories which, unfortunately, weren't met. Kougar and Ariana just didn't grabbed me as a couple. They were decently written characters, but I never cared whether they got back together or not. The "fated mates" trope is not one of my favorites so the constant talk of the mating bond got old for me. It seemed like there was little interaction between these two and no actual talking about how they worked as a couple without the supernatural nudging.
I did think the subplots worked much better than the main storyline. I am super intrigued by Wulfe, the scarred healer of the group, and his feelings for Natalie, a human that has learned the truth about the warriors. I also want to know more about Hawke whose connection with his animal spirit is put in serious jeopardy while he was trapped. It was also nice to see some of the past couples return though they never took over the plot as can happen in those reunion scenes.
I wanted to like Hunger Untamed more than I did because of my affection for the hero and my admiration for the creativity in the series. I believe it just didn't work for my personal taste at this moment, but I guess it did well enough that I am looking forward to catching up with the series soon.
Okay, I have a confession…I really didn’t like Kougar. He was just so cold, distant and not at all likeable. But that was before I read Hunger Untamed. Now I hate that the book had to end!
Kougar is from the times where shifter numbers were many, but when they had to put their powers together with the other immortals to trap Satanan they lost most of them and now there is only one shifter for every animal and the Feral Warriors were formed. Kougar was the chief of the Ferals until he lost his mate a thousand years ago. Since then he has been unable to feel and his senses are dampened. When he finds out that his mate is actually alive and their bond is reconnected he is angered beyond belief but she is the only one who can save his friends and fellow warriors from the spirit trap so he must face her and he has no qualms over forcing her to comply. Ariana’s betrayal is not what it seems at first glance but she can never let Kougar know what really happened because the truth could end his life. They soon come to realize though that they must work together to save their people, but can they overcome their past hurts and trust each other again? Regardless, there is still an intense attraction between them that can’t be denied. We later come to find out that this is an entire plot by the mage Hookeye, to capture all the feral warriors, that started a thousand years ago, and he will try to use to the bond between Kougar and Ariana to destroy them all.
I loved every moment of Hunger Untamed. It is fast paced with characters whose passion is palpable in each scene together. A compelling story filled with action and heartache; you won’t be able to put this book down.
I like how Palmer continues with the same overall story arc for the series but adds new aspects and plot points to each book so it keeps it interesting. We’re still worried about Satanan rising again but we face an all-new villain in Hunger Untamed. This is a wonderful addition to the series and we learn more about how the Mages and Therians joined forces and combined their power to defeat Satanan originally. The race against the clock to save Tighe & Hawke will keep you on the edge of your seat and there is also a subplot involving Wolfe and a human named Natalie and her brother Xavier. Ecstasy Untamed, the 6th book in this series is due out at the end of November will feature Hawke, and with the tiny cliffhanger at the end of Hunger Untamed I am anxious to see what happens, though I hope we see more of Wolfe and Natalie as well. It’s sure to be entertaining regardless! This is a must read series for all romance lovers.
I read the ARC version, thanks for Pamela Palmer :D, that held the giveaway contest at her Facebook page.
This book will always be memorable for me, since I never win book before, and its ARC. Its ARC!!!!! LOL :)). I still can't believe my luck then. Even now I'd win so many books, I always remember the moment when I win this :) (and Hunger Untamed is my first signed book! So happy to see my full name written at the first page and Pamela send a card too :'))
The evidence :
Forgive me for the bad quality of the pic :P
Now into the story, I never guess Kougar will have his own books, and his book come after Jag. Since he is so cold and distant. But here he was, his story was told and he must reunite with his lost wife (at last he think, she is already dead) Arianna.
What I love from Feral Warrior series is the emotional battle between the hero and the heroine. Kougar and Ariana have a hard battle, battle based on trust, since Arianna deceive Kougar with her fake death. Even Kougar hate his ex wife with passion, he still need Arianna's power to help his friend, Hawke and Tighe who trapped at Daemon's vortex, and deep inside,he still love her. This book not too steamy, if we compare it with previous books, which make me a little bit disappointed. I already prepare some panties in case I need those, when things get hot and dirty *snicker*, but seems that I don't need it, LMAO!
Why I just give it 4 stars, first is I just feel a little bit connection between Kougar & Arianna, maybe it just my feeling. And then at this book Kougar already know Ariana is alive and deceive him, while I remember at Rapture Untamed, there's no hint Kougar know about Arianna. Am I missed something? :/
I think the next book is about Wulfe, since we will get hint for his-maybe- heroine, but Ecstasy Untamed is about Hawke, who just freed from Daemon's trap by Arianna. Hawke hurt so bad, physically and emotionally. It will take his heroine to heal him and bring him back as a warrior again.
Well, maybe I can win Ecstasy Untamed ARC too? I will never know ;-) *finger crossed and pray so hard to Random Generator God*
One of the many things I love about this series is how when going from one book to the next there isn’t any time gap. When we closed Jag and Olivia’s book Kougar was going to hunt an Ilina. He is hoping to find his mate that he has had no contact with for a thousand years. For this being a rekindle story it did not flow in that sense. There is a reason they have been apart, it is the reason they have remained apart. When Ariana and Kougar initially became mates someone close to them slipped them a Mage potion that kept the mating bond from forming properly. It did a lot more. As we know the Mage are evil and want only their society succeed. This is where most of my annoyance comes in. The individual that sabotaged the mating and thus set up an entire race to fail is still very present. No one views this person as a big evil who must be punished. (I did! And I hated that character from the very first.) That aspect right there brought this book way down for me.
This book is almost a 3 Star. Wulfe, Natalie and Xavier save this book. We learn some very interesting stuff about the oversized wolf resident at Feral House. We get a peek at how he viewed his mating with Beatrice, the previous Radiant. He is currently having some problems due to the death of his mate. I also think he currently has a crush on someone and it is really sweet. Really makes one look forward to reading his book. Natalie and Xavier are two of the humans that were saved from the very climatic ending of Rapture Untamed. There is interesting stuff going on with how Feral House handles humans who know their secrets. Feral house also gets a new resident. Also we are five books into a series that has plenty of sex going on between all these mated couples…. One of the females is finally pregnant!
I was thinking that this series was good enough but not great in anyway. Too much talk in the heat of the moment, which is always giving in to the love bond. This one took it way too far for me and bored me way too much. The only thing that makes it a OK read is the over arcing plot, and even that fell a bit short. I didn't hate it, dislike it, therefore not a 1 star, but I didn't like it either.
So here is the good first. The relationship between Nicole and Wulfe is started here. She was taken by Demons in a previous book, along with her brother. The energy they still carried made it impossible to take their memories and they are waiting to see if when the memory fades, the memories can be taken. I think I liked this side glimpse because Wulfe is a scarred warrior. I'm partial to the outwardly and inwardly scarred hero, beauty and the beast type story.
So along with the glimpses of Wulfe and his issues, we get a bunch of glimpses of Hawke while trapped in the spirit trap. This was just pull your teeth boring. Hawke's book is next so obviously it was a set up to see how injured Hawke is and how he became that way, but way too much information and droning... can't move, screaming but no sound, losing connection to the animal. That is pretty much it in a nut shell. The biggest thing here was him hearing the other feral animals, or thinking that he did. Still even that droned on and on. We didn't get Tige's perspective on the spirit trap at all, so it seems more a set up for Hawke. Really boring stuff.
So the main story. Wow, what to say. Kougar has an interesting story though you don't get to hear it until close to the end. By then, you pretty much don't care. I ended up disliking Ariana pretty much through the whole book, idiotic choices and horrible friends. I hated Melisandra and she is the heroine for the book after Hawke's. They never get to it but what they did is unconscionable.
The big gist of the book is the mating bond and how it is more and more complete but... I don't care about him anymore either, they are both too stupid to live. How can they be so old? 21 years together and they don't know each other, get real.
So to recap the good is Wulfe and Nicole's interaction and Kougar's background story, which tells of the true story of how feral house came to be. The Hero and Heroine, not very interesting and horrible chemistry, big zone out time.
I'm going on to Wulfe's story because I can't handle more of Hawke's droning or the horrible Melisande. I'll probably miss a lot of what the over arching plot happenings but I'm at the point of not caring. The series has lost me except for Wulfe. Let's see if his book can pull it back.
The first four books in this series blew me away! This one -- not so much. While I still enjoyed the wild ride the author took me on, I think I just had a hard time because of the main characters.
Kougar and Ariana were mated in the past. They thought being from different races wouldn't hurt their love for each other, but fate had other ideas. After an attack on the Iliana race that Ariana is the Queen for, they are forced to go into hiding and break communication with Kougar.
Kougar thinks that his mate died long ago, but she didn't. Years later when he discovers the truth, he promises to keep their secret and walks away from Ariana. In the years that followed, hate and contempt has formed in Kougars cold heart and Ariana has tried to control the secrets and pain while protecting her race. When other warriors are trapped in the spirit trap, Kougar goes on the hunt for Ariana since she is the only one who has access to it. He has eleven days to convince her to help. Unfortunately, if Ariana does as he asks, she risks the extinction of herself and her entire race for real this time.
Ariana was not a great character for me. I just couldn't connect with her as I did the previous heroines in the other books. I am not sure what made her unlikable to me but I know she wasn't up to par as the previous ones. Kougar had his good moments and you can't mistake his dedication and loyalty to his race, but he wasn't as strong as I thought he would be. He is powerful and sexy, but he is lacking a certain punch for me to believable. I think it is because I felt the relationship was being forced for me. I just couldn't get the two to connect in my mind. There wasn't much chemistry in my minds eye, but there was much begging and pleading from Kougar and many no's from Ariana.
I still enjoyed the book and I am glad to have read it for the simple fact that previous plot lines played out. What I love the most is how the author makes sure we don't forget the previous characters because they are essential to each story for progression. The next book features Hawke who happens to be my favorite Warrior so far. I have been waiting patiently -- okay not so patiently -- for his book and I am glad to be starting it next!
Cougar spent the last millennium mourning for his lost mate - his Ariana. He closed himself off from emotions and lived a half-life for so long. And then he found out the truth. She is alive. The betrayal was unimaginable, the other half of his soul betrayed him, betrayed the love they shared. He might have just left her if Ariana wasn't needed to help save the Ferals that were trapped.
Ariana had her reasons for doing what she did. She had to protect not only herself, but her race and her mate as well. The last 1000 years were lonely for her as well, and throughout the years there was the hope that she will be able to be with Cougar again.
One of the reasons their love didn't withstand the pressure was that both of them held back. Cougar never shared his past, and Ariana never really admit that it bothered her. It didn't help that neither Ilinas nor the Ferals approved their mating.
I didn't like the bitterness that was a dominant feeling in both of them in the beginning. All that love from the past almost turned into hatred. The way that Ariana turned her back on their love when she should have fought, the way that Cougar treated her now, all those secrets between two people that are meant for each other.
And the plot was a bit confusing to me. I did read the previous book and I know how the warriors were captured and all, and that is not the problem. The problems are: .
But I we do get to see more from Wolfe. I'm looking forward to reading his book.
It took me a long time to collect my thoughts about this book and actually write a review. I even changed the rating a few times.
Ok once again I LOVED this book!!!!! The characters were sexy, the plot was intriguing, and the sex was possitively delectable! Kougar seemed so different in this one then the others. I'm very happy that it ended well for everyone, well almost everyone. I felt bad for Wulfe since he was starting to like Natalie and she had to go back to her life and fiancé without any memories of him or what happened to her friends and brother. I really hope that isn't the last we see of her. Wulfe deserves to find happiness, especially after he had to deal with that undeserving bitch Beatrice. That chick didn't deserve an awesome mate like him, who cares about his scars? I sure as hell wouldn't. He's sweet, kind, funny, and fierce. I also really hope Hawke is ok. I was surprised at how angry he could get, he's always so calm and curious, never uncontrolled or wild. I also really want to know who he was thinking of when he said he could never lose control again, what was the name, Aren? Amen? I think it was Aren, but I'm not sure. The next should either be about him or Wulfe. Probably him, but you never know. Either way, I can't wait!!!!! I had really thought that Arianna would save not only them but also all the animal spirits, i figured she could do that when she went in the vortex, guess i was wrong though. I'd been waiting for it the entire time and it didnt happen, very disappointing. Oh well. I really want to see who the new Fox Shifter is, it will probably be a guy, but I really want it to be a girl. I really REALLY want it to be a girl. there needs to be a girl feral warrior instead of all guys, i want to see a warrior woman come around kick all their asses lol that would be good ;) but anyway, I abso-friggin-lutely LOVE this series and I'm DYING for the next one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two Feral Warriors are trapped in a spirit trap, their animals will be separated from them, the warriors will die, and the animals will remain trapped unless they could be freed from the trap. There was a way to free them, but it requires the help of the Iliana Queen. The immortal world believed the Ilianas had all perished a thousand year ago. They had not. Feral Warrior Kougar and Ariana, Queen of the Ilianas, were mated and for about twenty-five years he had known she was not dead. Kougar when to the Iliana Mystic Palace to ask Ariana to enter the spirit trap and save his friends and brothers . . . She refused. He took her prisoner to persuade her to change her mind. She had a valid reason for refusing. A Mage sorcerer had infected her with poison and if she turned to mist (forgot to tell you Ilianas have both corporal and mist form) all of her maidens would become infected and die as would Kougar because the poison seeped into his body through their marriage bond. Kougar and Ariana still love each other and using their love they find a way to defeat the sorcerer and save the trapped warriors.
This is the fifth and my least favorite of the Feral Warrior books. Something seemed to be missing, or maybe I just did not partially like the Kougar and Ariana. I think the best part of the book was Wulfe’s interaction with the humans the Warriors had saved from the Mage and daemon attack at Harpers Ferry – from Rapture Untamed.
After a battle with the Mage, Hawke and Tighe are in the spirit vortex where their animal spirit is being ripped from their body. Kougar is determined to help them however, he must depend on his mate who up until this point he thought dead. He is furious and heart broken over her betrayal and reluctant to trust her again. However he had no choice if he wants to save his friends. I liked that they didn't just fall back into love but had to work at it which made it more realistic.
The only real issue I had with this book was the lack of background information to set the story. Even with the introduction, the reader didn't really have any idea what happened in the past. And their backstories were pieced out in a choppy fashion that took some getting used to.
This book was choppier than the others. It flips back and forth quite a bit between the characters, which can be annoying even if it is necessary for the plot. It was interesting and I definitely enjoyed reading Kougar's story.
I really want to kick myself for falling behind on this series. Hunger Untamed is well written with great characters. You can't help feeling bad for both Ariana and Kougar, and all the lost years. A must read.
This series keeps getting better and better. I absolutely loved this book and the new additions to the series. I really felt for Kougar and I loved hearing his story.
Something about this book didn’t do it for me like the previous have. I think it’s because this one felt more like high fantasy, and I’m definitely more of an urban fantasy girl… just a preference, but I prefer my urban fantasies to stay at least somewhat grounded in the “real world.” Also, this relationship felt less well-developed than the others. It was somewhat confusing how they went from not knowing what happened to each other and hating each other, to KNOWING what happened and STILL hating each other, and then somehow to loving each other? Even though, apparently, they never loved each other that much in the first place? I’m also just not a huge fan of the whole “I left to protect you! But I also didn’t tell you WHY I left some inexplicable reason!” trope in general. I’m probably still going to pick up the next book, but this was definitely my least favorite so far.
When a reader is in the mood for a gripping and suspenseful read on the dark side, where the hero and heroines have to be strong because the villains seem stronger, then this book delivers with nail biting intensity.
Hunger Untamed is the latest adventure that follows the Feral Warriors – men with animal spirits who guard the unsuspecting human population from an unspeakable evil. Their world is harsh, violet and blood flows freely. The bad guys are a tragedy because they weren’t always this twisted and bent. There’s another force trying to break free into our world and it not only has corrupted people of magic and beauty and consumed their souls, it has destroyed families and lovers. The only thing that stands in its way is the Feral Warriors.
That’s a lot of pressure and stress to place on someone’s shoulders. There’s been four Feral Warriors that have found their happily ever after for now, so far. I say that they have a HEAFN because their lives are always on the line; danger stalks them at every turn, so love and tenderness, sentimentality and passion are treasured gifts that possibly could be taken away at a moment’s notice. That is where this book picks up. In the last book, two of the warriors are caught in a trap set by the corrupted mages – magical people who are tied to the earth. It would be helpful for readers to have read the previous books but by no means mandatory. Ms. Palmer presents enough information for a reader by the emotions and actions of the characters within the story, and through internal and external dialogue so what is at stake and who can be hurt by the current conflict is clear and concise.
In Hunger Untamed, Kougar reunites in a bitter fashion with the absolute love of his life. There’s a ton of angst, anger, hurt and mistrust muddying the waters. Add to the potential loss of his brethren and Kougar’s a man on the edge, willing to do whatever he has to do save his brothers. But will that include forgiving the woman who betrayed him? That’s a tough call and one that seems an impossible task. The author allowed me to get into Kougar’s head a bit where none of the other characters seem to be able to. There are things that are hidden still, but I found out about the depth of his pain through the telling of the story. The fact that he survived what he has, that he didn’t go mentally loony as I know I would have, is a true testament to his courage, loyalty and honor. It describes the man that he is and he fits my description of a tortured hero.
Ariana is a warrior queen who, unbeknownst to Kougar, has had to carry a burden of equal severity for a thousand years. Her loss is a tragedy itself. Her fears are real and she’s haunted, tormented and on the run. She’s a woman of great beauty inside and out with a fierce loyalty and dedication to those in her care. She’s paid the ultimate sacrifice by losing Kougar the first time, but to lose him again will kill her. Talk about drama and emotional connection. This book has it all.
What shines through is the love the hero and heroine truly have for each other. It should have died because of all the lies and deception but true love, the kind that weathers the storms and brings strength out of chaos, never dies – it just gets sidelined for a bit. Their love is battle-born and stronger for it, much to my fascination. As harsh and cruel as things seem to get, I still found hints that gave me hope that had me rooting for their love to conquer all.
Like all good books, heroes and heroines need a little bit of help from their friends. Secondary characters abound. Again, although most are from the previous stories, I don’t believe readers will get lost. If anything, it might intrigue them enough to read the previous adventures in the series. Roar is really cool and I enjoyed his tale. Ms. Palmer is great with tortured heroes and every one of them fits the bill to one degree or another. There’s even a secondary thread that I think might be a curveball. Although it seems resolved, with Wulfe and Natalie, I somehow don’t think so. When you read this book, keep an eye out for that part and how Wulfe reacts; it could be my wishful imagination, but I don’t think so. Then again, the author never seems to do what I expect of her. Half the fun is the surprises she throws at me.
I do have to warn readers about some of the violence. There’s this one part that really grossed me out. It wasn’t gratuitous and it wasn’t arbitrary and it turns out to be the only course of action that would have worked. What I’d like to know is how in the world Ms. Palmer even imagined such a thing in the first place. Didn’t it give her nightmares? Feel me shudder.
A different kind of shuddering goes on when Kougar and Ariana succumb to their passion and explore their physical love. It’s scorching and worthy of a cold shower. Or two. Kougar sure knows how to please a woman and Ms. Palmer sure knows how to write all about it.
Hunger Unleashed will grip a reader’s imagination, heart and emotions. I wanted to rail against the injustice of it all and kick the bad guys into the next worm hole for daring to mess with my favorite guys’ happiness. All the Feral Warriors deserve their happily ever after and Kougar’s story is one that satisfies on many levels. Now, I’m chomping at the bit for who is next because every one of those hot and hunky men has a story to tell and a woman to find. Readers who enjoy the talents of J. R. Ward will find much to enjoy in the Feral Warriors series – the men are just as charismatic and alpha as one could wish, tempered with the ability to love a woman senseless. What more can a reader ask for?
This series is incredibly well-written, with each book surpassing the last. This one is definitely the best in the series so far! In previous books, Kougar has always come across as the quiet one, or at least the one I knew the least about. I've been so curious about him; despite being a great warrior, he hasn't shared much about himself with the other Feral warriors. I had no idea had been mated before or that he was one of the original Feral warriors! (I don't want to give away too) In book, his backstory is revealed, explaining why he behaves the way he does. There's so much in this book that ties everything together. It was intriguing and entertaining, and I couldn't put it down until the very end! Definitely 5 stars
I thought I’d hate Arianna. She is presented as a total B throughout the first books. I expected her to be very cold and uncaring, fortunately they explained and everything. It always amazes me how books present leaders, in this book the queen, as weak. They can’t lead. Everyone just ignores their orders and constantly do their own things. This book is no exception. The second (and really all of them) don’t listen and in-fact totally disregard orders. Why bother calling them the leader, queen in this book. They really aren’t.
Only reason I recommend this book is because it’s part of the series and helps tie the stories together. It was not an enjoyable read. It was hard to keep focus on and get through.
I don't know why but I just could not feel this one, I like that we got a lot more info about Ilina, but I don't know after 1000 year that I would just get over everything.... But maybe its hard to get into a head of somebody who is "soooo old" ;), so....
I liked it way more than expected and even if it’s the fifth book in the series, and the first one I read, I didn’t have any problems to follow. I liked the story and the characters and even if the first part was a bit slow for my taste, the last part made up for it.
Decided to skip book 2 and go to 5 as wanted to see Kougar's story. The oldest Feral warrior. Didnt like the story that much but liked that fact that it shed light on the history of the Feral worriors.
