Rate this book
Since its publication in 2003, this book has established itself as an indispensable compendium of prayers for children. With prayers from the Bible, traditional sources, modern anthologies and others written specially for this collection, the prayers touch on all aspects of life: friends and family; festivals and special occasions; home and school; the world; for good times and bad times; for health, sickness and bereavement; for peace and the future; and for our relationship with God. The prayers are numbered and carefully indexed to make them easy to browse and look-up, meaning that the user can make the perfect choice for any occasion. With 15,000 copies sold to date, this popular resource is now available with a new cover and a revised list of prayers.

This book rocks . . . I am not a fanatic or an evangelical and I am not inclined to venture serious commentary on so hallowed a subject but this collection is beautifully unassuming, profoundly inspirational and remarkably accessible for ALL ages and faith levels. The predominantly short and at-times quirky prayers are wonderfully organized and offer incredible range and depth in all facets of a kid's life and a parent's journey. Truthfully, I am amazed how entertaining it is too. I coach a Sunday school class ('cause I am not predisposed or qualified to "teach" in the conventional sense of the word) and everyone is clamoring to read prayers from it . . . go figure! What a hoot! Our favorite of late is "God I think you know what I am trying to say so I won't bother you with the words" (and I think if I misquoted this one for shear enthusiasm . . . that's OK too.) This book won't let you get too deep and therein lies effectiveness. It's divinity is in it's simplicity. "Brevity is the soul of wit" and WISDOM it would appear. They're practical prayers for children not presumptuous poems for God. As audacious as that may be for some, it works for me and I am going to roll with it! Again I qualify comments as the observations of a simpleton as far as theology goes and quite possibly a philistine with regards to orthodoxy as well.
