Michael J. Benton FRS is Professor of Vertebrate Palaeontology at the University of Bristol. He is particularly interested in early reptiles, Triassic dinosaurs, and macroevolution, and has published over 50 books and 300 scientific articles. He leads one of the most successful palaeontology research groups at the University of Bristol, and has supervised over 60 PhD students.
I don't doubt that much of the info is out of date now, but this was one of my favorite dinosaur books when I was around 6-11. Read it all the way through several times.
Dinosaurs (terrible reptiles) maybe abit harsh but this book certainly and plainly begins by presenting the antiquarian history of dinosaur hunting in Europe then presents an alphabetical guide, it’s interesting to note that the naming of dinosaurs and the description of the species. Easy enough for children to grasp, it ends with directory of museums around the world.
