Luisa:
My favorite part was that they didn't know a lot about germs, but while they were in the bathtub they learned a lot.

This is the second book in the Andrew Lost series. Andrew and his cousin, Judy, are still as small as a pinpoint due to the Atom Sucker that Andrew has invented. Mrs. Skuttle, Harley’s owner, has no idea that they are stuck on him as she tries to give Harley a bath. With things getting “hairy,” Judy is lost and Andrew uses more of his inventions to try and find Judy and get them out of the mess. Watch out as they are attacked by sponges, hot water, ants, and even a spider. THUDD, Andrew’s trusty robot, is along to help them get back to Judy’s backyard before 8:01 when the Atom Sucker is supposedly going to blow up. Once again, this book gives you the first chapter of the next one in the series. It also leaves you hanging to find out if our friends are going to make it out of the bathroom in time!
While reading this book you’ll learn interesting facts about bubbles, spiders, and bacteria. Check in the back of the book for additional facts.

• When THUDD gets wet, he begins telling jokes. Try your hand at the jokes on some of these sites. You can even get your parents to write jokes for your lunchbox!

omigawd, I broke down and read it, after I said I wouldn't. Okay, this book is really inexpensive and you get what you pay for! Not high quality literature, but not bad for four dollars.

I cleaned my bathroom sink and my bathtub after reading this. I promise--you will, too.

One thing I want to add: It annoys me that this series is very boy-centric. Andrew is the smart boy inventor, but his cousin Judy is a complainer and whiner who apparently hasn't invented anything. Also, their uncle appears holographically and he is also some sort of scientist. I think maybe even the smart robot is a boy. It is a "he."

And this is despite the fact the writer of this series is female AND a biologist!!!!!!!

Editted to add: Here are the list of characters. It says that Judy can fly a helicopter, but so far she hasn't flown one. http://www.andrewlost.com/andrews_wor...

Andrew, Judy and Thudd were shrank by the invention called the "Atom Sucker". They became smaller than fly's eye. They were stuck in dog's ear that is about getting bath. So, they are in bathtub. Andrew realized that in his pocket he has a umbubble. The umbubble will never break! So, they are in the umbubble. Their adventure in bathtub is started. But....Mrs. Scuttle flushed them in the toilet!!!!!
I think this book's theme is "adventure" and "friendship". Because Andrew, Judy and Thudd were adventuring in the bathtub using the bubble. For friendship, they were always helping each other. For example, when Judy lost in the bathtub Andrew and Thudd found Judy really hard.
I didn't like this book very much, because I think this book is for a little children and a little easy for me. I enjoyed rising action in this book. It had many rising actions so, those parts were exciting and interesting. But I did not like resolution.

This is book 2 in the series. Andrew and Judy and up getting washed off the dog and into the bathtub. They end up separated. They are in danger from fungi which could liquify them and eat them, from an ant that would eat them, from the bubbles and a spider. Andrew comes up with the idea to blow up a piece of bubblegum and climb inside of it to escape. Eventually, Judy find him and gets inside too. They have more adventures & Thudd the robot is right there to explain what is going on scientifically. The story ends with a cliffhanger for kids where the dog poops on the bathroom floor & now Judy & Andrew are on their way to being flushed down the toilet. Kids with an interest in science will find this interesting.

Andrew Lost In the Bathroom
Publisher: Random House
Time: 60 min
7 word summary: boy intelligent inventing robot friend shrinking accident
Passage I like:
"Andrew looked up. Mrs. Scuttle was turning the knob on the faucet. Niagara Falls turned a trickle and stopped!"
I liked this passage because the metaphor was used. By using metaphor I could imagine the scene easily so I want to use it in my essay or other things.

I enjoyed reading this book because it was wasy to understand and the story was interesting. I liked the content of this story which is human shrink. I want to read this series of book again!:)

I liked this book for the most part. It's funny, but it also tries to incorporate some science in there. I wanted to read this because I had just finished reading a book where the main character also shrinks and wanted to compare the two. It's definitely for the younger kids and yes, it's aimed at boys. This is the first one that I read and the author does a good job of filling you in on what happened in the previous book. I didn't like how it left you hanging - you have to read the next book to see if they get out of their predicament.

Like my review for book #1, my rating for this book is tempered by the fact that these are not self-contained stories - you must get the next book to find out what happens.

That being said, my 3.5 year old loves these books. They have good, easy to follow stories and there are pictures on roughly every third page.

I read this to my first graders and they loved it. They begged for me to read it to them everyday and keep asking if we can read other books in the series.

These are great titles for beginning chapter book readers. This particular series is a great way to add more science to reading time.
