A lot of good stuff about overcoming fear and anger and about detaching from old habits, integrated with Joseph Campbell's "hero's journey" and similar.
There is some weird stuff. Seaward says that a strange symbol occasionally appears on his hand while he is asleep and he wonders if aliens put it there. When he hears that scientists don't yet know what 95 percent of human DNA does, he asks: "Does the ego have its own gene? And if so, did this gene somehow deactivate the other 95 percent of our DNA? What would we be like as a species if we had full access to the entire strand of DNA?" He is also a fan of Caroline Myss whose book The Sacred Contract of America memorably made me ill almost a decade ago. Compartmentalizing this stuff out, it is a worthwhile book.
The best self help book I personally have ever read. More pages are dog earred than not and I even started highlighting and underlining parts that really moved me. I read this during a hard time in my life several years ago and it really helped me put things into perspective. It is a powerful read full of insight and inspiration. Very spiritual at times but not matter your faith, you will be able to relate and appreciate this book! I refer to it regularly to this day!
This was a good book if its what you are looking for. It is very spiritual and had a lot of different religions in it but mostly christian and talks about God alot and if thats what you want than this is the book for you to help you get rid of stress and help you get through your day.
I thought it was good. Mostly I read it because a friend who is going through some very difficult times read it and wanted to talk about it. She found it helpful and now I can at least be able to talk about it with her. We all seek our own spiritual paths and if this book brought peace, helped relieve stress for her or anyone else...then I'm all for it.
