I'm pretty sure God had me procrastinate on reading this so that I could hear these words when I needed it most. If I would have read this prior to this hardship, it would have been good. But reading it after made it great because of how powerfully it resonated.

I'm not a huge fan of guided studies because sometimes I find them too generic or shallow in their teaching, however, when my mother suggested that I do this study, since I personally had been trying to study the Holy Spirit, I begrudgingly agreed.

My biggest problem with this book was the inconsistency in Bible versions. While I understand that both the KJV and NIV Bibles are considered the truest versions, it gets a little confusing when the author switches back and forth and/or it doesn't really match what my bible says. I don't want to say it is out of convenience, but I think the study lost a little bit of credibility to me.

Getting into the real meat of the study also took too long. A little bit of background preparation is fine, but almost two weeks were devoted to just getting set up for the study, and I found myself bored with the information that I had already learned.

The fill-in-the-blank style of some of the questions felt too much like elementary school worksheets, but the deeper thinking questions were very effective in targeting where I was personally having trouble.

Once we got to the heart of the study however, I found myself pleasantly surprised despite the problems I found. I did really learn from the study and felt that the self reflection questions at the end did help me apply some of the concepts Ms. Moore talks about to my daily life.

Overall, there were some structural issues, but the teachings were effective and thought-provoking. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who has understood the concepts deeply already, but for a Christian who is seeking the Holy Spirit and wants to learn more, this book is an excellent resource.

Very disappointing. Normally I love BMs studies but this one didn't offer me much

In the book Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit by Beth Moore you dive deeper on the fruits of the spirit and how to apply them to your daily life. This is a ten week study if you stay diligent and do it everyday.

I recommend this book to anyone that loves diving deeper into God’s word.

I was skeptical starting this study. I had never done any studies or read any books by Beth Moore. When I skimmed through the book it looked very intense. I was in the middle of fostering a two year old and was not sure I was going to ever have the time to finish the daily devotions. Luckily my small group decided against doing it and I was able to do it at my own pace.

I ended up really enjoying this book. Yes it was intense but I loved how she had you constantly looking up scripture. I learned more about the fruit of the spirit then I ever have before. I love that her concepts can be applied to our daily life. She puts things into a perspective that anyone can understand.

Many key points encouraged me during this study:

That my approval should be from God, not my job or coworkers

To be content when I am alone with Him and when I am with others

To expect Him to keep His promises, we have to believe and have faith

To trust He has the perfect plan in our adoption process

We nee to love one another above everything else

Having peace during the wait and the unknown

Stop looking at my phone and notice the faces of those around me

My favorite quote was a prayer she prayed when God allowed her friend’s child to die of cancer she prayed these words:

“God, I can’t understand why You’re doing this. But I know that, unlike me, Your actions cannot be inconsistent with Your heart, and I know your heart is loving, good, and faithful. Somehow, some way, somewhere all these things are for good. If I could just know You better through this, that is all the good I need.”

This is a dvd combo which I did not have the dvd but found the answers to those sessions online. I am sure I am missing out on a good part but I did okay with out it.

I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

This was a great study but it was close to an hour a day which is a little intense for me especially when you have children.

This study would be the third time I traveled through the Fruit of the Spirit back in 2007 after God set me on a new path in my faithwalk. Beth brought out some very key examples from Scripture that dove deep into my heart in ways I wasn't prepared for at first. I couldn't make it to all the sessions of this study, but the sessions I did get to were clearly meant for me!

This would prove to be the second of two studies that would set me on the road to discovering an intimacy with God that I'd never known before. I ended up putting my own story down on paper, and contacted Beth's organization near the beginning of that process. Her Lifeway store link is in the first chapter of each small volume in my series, so that others can buy it for themselves.

If you want to see where this book led me, check out my author page on Facebook and/or sign up for my newsletter

Thanks Beth for writing a life-changing book! Various lessons in this new chapter in my life wouldn't have had the same impact if their seeds had not been sown via this book.

This was my first bible study by Beth Moore and I'm glad to say that I'm completely impressed. The way God has gifted Moore in teaching others how to discover God in scripture is amazing. This bible study can be done in the traditional group setting or as an individual. Either way, God will speak through the pages of this study to the reader's current heart condition and start the growing process there. If you're searching for a bible study that breaks down the scriptures, goes back to the original Greek and Hebrew text, and truly challenges the reader, then be prepared. For this bible study does it all with such eloquence that the end result is ultimately teaching the reader to walk faithfully into an intimate relationship with God.

This is a life-changing Bible study on the fruit of the Spirit. It was much better than I even expected. It is in-depth and has a DVD by Beth Moore which goes along with it. There is a lot of scripture to dig into and many interesting points that I hadn't thought of before. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in Christianity or who wants a closer walk with God.

I liked this study and learned so much that I posted a summary of each chapter telling what I learned on my blog at http://karen.pnn.com under the "Parma Heights Baptist Church" section and will begin reposting them one at a time on Sundays on my other blog at www.zemeks.blogspot.com.

This was a great Bible Study - we did it as a small women's group at my church, CUMC. A usual Beth Moore study where she takes us throughout the Bible to scripture to build our understanding and knowledge of God's Word. 5 days of homework each week (about an hour a day) really aid in understanding how important it is for all of us to work on the Fruit of the Spirit within us and to improve where needed (boy do I have my work cut out for me!!! ;-)

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. I recommend this to anyone journeying through God's Word.

Five stars are not anywhere close to being enough! I did this study during the summer of last year, and I can honestly say it, without a doubt, changed my life. My life took a definite turn during the time I did the study and continued to do so after. I am so thankful that I was introduced to it. I have said so many times that I think it would be a great book to review every couple of years. It really makes you reflect on your life and who you are, and since we change so much throughout our lives I think it would be a great thing to do every so often. Absolutely amazing, I can't say enough!

I always thought of it as the fruits of the spirit and I have been wrong because it's a single fruit. The fruit of your mature christian life living all the virtue's and not just one. This book goes indepth with all the qualities of living a spirit filled life.

It was a very good study that I got to share with some wonderful ladies in our group. Through them and Beth's fun Texan insight to the bible I got to grow.

I loved the message in this book. In fact, I must confess that I tend to refer back to its sections quite often because it is so relevant and helpful. Not only did it step on my toes, but it also made me accountable in the sense that I had to own up to that which I have been called (and equipped) to do...beyond myself.
In my opinion, every woman (and any man brave enough to do so) should read this book.

I started this Beth Moore Bible study way back with a group but never actually finished it. I picked it back up recently since I had about a week and half of lessons to complete. Like most Beth Moore Bible studies, it was AMAZING!!!! I'm so glad I finished especially since the last few lessons could not be more relevant to my life right now. It's intense but in a good way since you definitely get what you put into it!

Did this bible study in my neighborhood. It is honestly one of the best I have done. It is older but I truly got so much out of this one. I know I’m going to go back over my notes often this year and the years to come. So grateful for these women right in my community. I needed to read and hear so much of what was in this book. I learned quite a lot on a passage that I have often quickly gone through because I memorized it so young.

Another Bible Study. This was a really fun one to do. There was a lot of depth, but what I loved most was her fresh look on reviewing homework and going through the lessons. Giving that fresh perspective to a subject that many may feel they already know about.

I still use some of those methods today.

In this workbook, Beth Moore studies the fruit of the Spirit, taking you on a journey through Scripture, example, and finally practice. This is a great study for learning tangible ways to die to self and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, humility and self-control.

Amazing! I learned so much from this study about the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us and the fruit we should bear as a result. It was both practical and theological. I enjoyed delving into Bible stories that I had never really analyzed before. I enjoyed being challenged by the daily questions and reflections. Overall, I highly recommend this study.

I did this as a bible study when the study had a different name, "Filled and Free". Whatever the name, as always Beth Moore will challenge you, help you understand the fruits of the spirit, and give a new found faith in God!

Reading as part of my women's Bible study group. Also has video as part of the study featuring the author. Book gives lots of background to prepare for the study of the Fruit of the Spirit. There's quite a bit of homework but it's broken down by days. I'm enjoying this study.

I enjoyed the first or first two chapters of this lesson, but found it not challenging enough. The 1-hour weekly video...is too long when we could have more time in discussion in class. However, in spite of my opinions, there is a lot to learn.
