Just read this to my cat, Milo. He especially liked the pull tabs and the red squeaker. Such a fun silly book to read your children and pets alike; complete with rhyming, flaps on the sides of the book pages, lots of cats shown, and (spoiler) even a dog. ~ 1/5/16

Marlis signed Athena up for the Stuart Brent Children's Book Club for Christmas and this is January's book. We super enjoyed (typo free!), especially its size, furry tails that don't run away when grabbed as hard as possible, and the cast of characters last page.

There's not much continuity between (or even within) pages, but there's just lots of cute rhymes about cats. The lack of coherent story loses it half a star, and the other half is lost because the pop-up pieces that wave back and forth are just too tempting for my baby to rip out. One cat is now tailless and another is armless. But on the bright side, my baby absolutely loved all the tactile parts of the book, and he learned how to squeak the squeaky toy himself pretty quick. He's recently learned how to pull the tabs to make some of the tails and cats pop up. Unfortunately he learned that after he already pulled one tail off, so the pull tab doesn't actually do anything, but what can you do. He still likes pulling it out and pushing it back in.

In comparison with other tactile books I've gotten for him lately, I especially appreciate the squeaky toy. He can actually make it make sound, unlike with other sound books that require pushing a button. More reviews on that to come, haha

A fun interactive book featuring cats offers the chance to explore action words, opposites and more. The pull tabs are done in a way I have not come across previously and make this book stand out from other books in this category. The textured cats, squeaky push button and lift the flap ensure that children and adults enjoy looking at this book together.

A lovely sturdy book! We're not really cat people but still enjoy it a lot, I can imagine how much more enjoyable it is for cat lovers! It has so many different breeds of cats.
Got it from the local thrift store, such a great find! Can't wait to get the Dog one.

This is so much fun with its moveable cats and flaps, could not stop playing with the tabs. The cats are very cute and the back pages with their names is an added bonus. It would be loved by all cat lovers no matter their age!

TJ wasn't a big fan of this one. I think the moving parts were beyond him at the time. He might like it more now that he's older, but he'd also probably rather just play with our cat.

Me: more derivative and less effective than dog.

Alex: Cats! Again again again! Oops I broke a page...AGAIN!!!

Owen: I love cats! Still don't know why pages are broken...but cats, yay!

My 17 month old daughter is obsessed with cats. She said "cat" before she said "Momma." She loves this book and all of the fun things in it. Her favorite things about it are the moving goldfish on the cover, the squeaker, and the cat that pops up from the boots. Wonderful book!

This is my favorite van fleet so far. Still one of the toughest movable books ever and cute, cute, cute. The cover reminds me of this one time I went to camp and left my sisters in charge of my fish. He died and when the next roll of pictures came back I knew why. Our cat willie had his paw in the fish tank..... Hmmmm. Ages 1+

Some of the moving parts are really charming, but might be a little complicated for picture book aged readers. This might be one best read with a little assistance.

I know one 2-year old who would love it.

Another great book by Matthew Van Fleet! These books are the sturdiest books ever. This on is entertaining, just like the others. Fun, fun, fun!

Inventive take on the "touch and feel" adorable cats genre. I especially love the final fold out photo spread of all of the featured felines.

I like the concept, but a couple of cats pictured in this book are downright scary looking. Maybe little boys would think they're funny, but I think they'd frighten my daughter.
