While I have been reading some of the Romancing America books lately this is the 1st book I have read by this author and I have to say I really enjoyed all three of her stories. I came to really care about all the characters and their lives - It was very easy to "see" everything as she is very descriptive and make you feel like your there too... I will defiantly be looking to read more books by Yvonne Lehman in the future.

Three really good Christian Romance Stories. The first one is in 1890, the second is around 1910 and the third is in 1946 and they all take place in Hawaii. The characters from the first story are in the second and their descendants and some of them are in the third story.

Being in Hawaii each story hits on the Hawaiian gods. It’s part of their history. I had a hard time keeping up who’s who, mostly in the last book (‘Love from Ashes’), though it was my favorite one of the three. Lady on the cover is Amelia Thurstan from the last book.

*BFCG recommends this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author.

This is a christian romance. Three stories in one book, all taking place in Hawaii. First story, Jane Buckley visits Hawaii in 1890 before wedding a Texas oil baron. While in Hawaii she meets Mak McCauley and his daughter. Too, sorry oil baron. Second story, Mary Ellen Colson goes to the islands looking for her sister, who had gone to Hawaii as a picture bride. While there she meets Clay Honeycutt. Another marriage in paradise. The third story, Hawaiian native Amelia Thurstan has a secret from her family since her boyfriends death at Pearl Harbor. Her boyfriends brother comes to Hawaii to get some peace and finds out the secret Amelia has been keeping. They of course windup together.

I knew going in that this was a faith-based novel. I didn't expect to get beat over the head with the glory of God though. I couldn't tell if this author had ever actually been to Hawaii or was just really good at Googling.

Also, the insistence that the missionaries who went to the islands really did the natives a favor by saving them from themselves was pretty annoying and off-putting.

These stories were so very good. I loved the way they all flowed together with a few essential minor characters. This was so good that I wish the author would extend the story & make one large novel to tell us more about all of the characters lives. It would be an awesome book.

I really enjoyed the middle of the three stories. The first and third story took a long time to get into. The characters withheld their secrets from the readers for much too long.
