"Marisa is a modern-day witch, living at the edge of the woods and of society. She dispenses potions to help lonely souls find their true loves. Because of her inability to live among others, she doesn't believe love is for her, let alone sexual fulfillment. Then Conlon Maguire shows up at her cottage.
Conlon wants a potion to win the heart of his soulmate, but the magic behind the potion sets its price. Conlon's potion demands that he spend one night with Marisa, bringing her pleasure. As a servant of the Light, Marisa cannot refuse the price if Conlon agrees to it, but from the moment he touches her, she knows her heart and shields are in danger."

Marisa is a woman who couldn't be touched. But one day her true mate came and touch not only her but her heart as well. If you want to know how Conlon done a miracle you must read this book. A true love from afar.
It starts out rather abruptly, almost as if we jumped into the story and missed the beginning. Sometimes it reads as if it's historical then it clearly reads Cont. Disjointed reading, I walked away from this several times and even considered not finishing. There were several charming moments and the story improved towards the end.

The supernatural elements in the narrative and the fact that Marisa has lived a sheltered life make for a tender and moving love story. This isn’t so much the story of two people getting to know each other, but rather the story of soul mates coming together. Their physical joining opens up a world of emotion, as well as an expanded and safer sense of the world for Marisa and Conlon.
Marisa would never have imagined that her day would end as it did and Conlon’s patience and perseverance is evident from the beginning, but when what they are to each other is revealed, it’s amazing to see the amount of restraint and compassion he has really shown.
Someone looking for intense lust or for contemporary references won’t find it in this novella.
Marisa is a witch and Conlon is at her home looking for a love potion. Nonetheless, the magic of this witch has more to do with the elements of nature than with spells and conjuring acts. Within the world of the tale love becomes the strongest magic of all. It saves Marisa and provides Conlon with a purpose true to his protective nature.
Pureness of heart and intention are something that both Conlon and Marisa share. It’s their strength and it’s what binds them together. It’s also at the heart of whatever “magic” is created within the story.
The novella has a lyrical tone to it, with all the description of scenery and elements. The feeling, thoughts, and sensations experienced by Marisa and Conlon are also described in poetic terms. They bring about the spiritual nature of their connection. The author uses words to sublimate the desire they evidently have for one another, but the more blunt language of erotic romances is also present.
The entire novella is a buildup for the final consummation of Marisa and Conlon’s attraction. There’s plenty of foreplay and admiration of each other’s beauty. Sensuality is an undercurrent that accompanies the lover’s conversations throughout. I thought the buildup was well done, although I did find the spanking a little out of place, especially given Marisa’s level of inexperience and wariness.
This is the second author I've read with a modern day witch as the main character. I really enjoyed it.Marisa sells potions to her clients. She must accept whatever payment the Light deems fair for her services if the client agrees. What price will they both pay after spending one night of passion together for a potion he wants to make someone else fall in love with him.
Found it really cool that Joey W. Hill manages these touching and smexy stories between two characters, even without the outside world and other minor characters intruding.
