I realize

that this was a convoluted group of kids, that there were many characters to write about, many different stories and perceptions to sift through and while I was mesmerized by this event, reading so many different views was difficult. Four stars is a good rating it speaks for itself. The only critique I wonder about is whether the story couldn't have been told by compilation, to bring cohesiveness to the conflicting tales, because in the end there is only one truth.

A tragic kidnapping/murder case that ruined many lives. A number of young people involved in this crime chose not to intercede or even call authorities, but what was particularly shocking was the similar behavior of the adults (parents, lawyers, etc.). It's very common for authors of true crime books to tell the story in the first half, then tell it AGAIN when the case goes to trial; which of course makes for a boring and repetitive experience. There were a lot of defendants and trials in this book, and I appreciated the way this author handled it, with sentences like "they basically had the same opening statements, with a few new wrinkles." A lot of writers would have unnecessarily padded the narrative by quoting this type of material over and over.

I have watched and read everything to do with Nick. This book was great to read last. Very well written and all the questions I had were answered. Nice to hear about all the trials. If you have t read the book Nick's mother Susan wrote called 'My Stolen Son' I highly suggest it

Dumbest, most poorly written crime book I have ever read…….or should say, “started” to read. Got about a quarter of the way into this sophomoric written book and had to delete it. The jerk writing this must be a 17 year old kid. All he talks about is a bunch of half-wit, low intellect teenagers who do nothing but bounce around from place to place drinking and smoking dope………and then, over nothing, one moronic teenager kid kills another kid on a dare. The combined IQ of all the characters (including the author) must be about 10! How this dumb thing ever got published, is beyond comprehension. It must have been “Joe’s publishing” who published this piece of crap!!!

Interesting read

Good book but such a sad story, to think something so small can turn into something like this, such a shame.

Decent book to read, nicely written. A young innocent kid looses his life just because some scumbag a-hole wanted to prove he could be a badass. Jesse James Hollywood was born with priviliges but in the end he did not have the balls to face up to his crime, so he chose to run and hide. He didn't do the killing himself but he was responsible no matter what.

I am loving this book! Its crazy what happens to these kids just by peer pressure and wanted to be apart of a group. I understand that L.A isn't the place to raise kids, but the fact that 14 year old's are selling drugs on the street, I mean hell! What are these parents thinking?
