About the author

DAVID HEWSON was born in Yorkshire in 1953. His books range from the Nic Costa series set in Italy to adaptations of The Killing in Copenhagen and the Pieter Vos series in Amsterdam.
He's adapted Shakespeare for Audible and in 2018 won the Audie for best original work for Romeo and Juliet: A Novel, narrated by Richard Armitage.
2019 sees the release of a new, full-cast Audible drama set in New York, Last Seen Wearing, and a standalone novel set in the Faroe Islands, Devil's Fjord.

A relatively gripping read but some of the storyline/plot for me was almost formulaic and “where have I read this chase scene” before - kinda book. Could have less pages and been equally interesting.

"A Season For The Dead / The Villa Of Mysteries (Nic Costa, #1, #2)" asks some uncomfortable questions about human destiny and power struggles. "David Hewson" didn't bother offering sugar-coated answers, and that's precisely why it works. The reliance on cold, real-world logic saved this piece and made it a truly solid read.

Excellent Roman noir, action-packed plot and strong characterizations. Still, depressing enough that I don't think I'll read anymore in this series.

Too violent/squeamish to me but did I read 4 of them?
Detective Sarah Lund left Copenhagen in disgrace for a remote outpost in northern Denmark.
