Contiene Ultimate Elektra vol. 2, 1-5 USA.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information. Mike Carey was born in Liverpool in 1959. He worked as a teacher for fifteen years, before starting to write comics. When he started to receive regular commissions from DC Comics, he gave up the day job.
Since then, he has worked for both DC and Marvel Comics, writing storylines for some of the world's most iconic characters, including X-MEN, FANTASTIC FOUR, LUCIFER and HELLBLAZER. His original screenplay FROST FLOWERS is currently being filmed. Mike has also adapted Neil Gaiman's acclaimed NEVERWHERE into comics.
Somehow, Mike finds time amongst all of this to live with his wife and children in North London. You can read his blog at www.mikecarey.net.
Matt Murdock, sort of lovelorn, tries to find Elektra again only to get caught up in the machinations of Bullseye and .. the Kingpin. Classic Daredevil/Elektra/Kingpin stories given an Ultimate Universe spin! Three Starred 6.5 out of 12 work for me. As a side note the maturity and grounded-ness of the Daredevil reality has rightly led to quite a few very good adaptations, which this is one of :) 2017 and 2011 read
Wow. What can I say? This is easily one of the best of the Ultimates Universe comics I've read so far. It hits on all cylinders in great writing and wonderful art. Mike Carey (Of Lucifer fame) pens an epic tale of the fall of Elektra.
This takes place after Ultimate Daredevil, which I did not care for, with Elektra having left Columbia. Her father trying to rebuild his burned shop gets into business with some crooked family members who are working with Wilson Fisk. Those same cousins have an accountant that has turned snitch and has a ledger showing Fisk's business dealings. Fisk brings in Bullseye to terminate the accountant, which he does and frames Elektra's father for the crime. Elektra has to figure out a way to free him while also surviving dealing with Bullseye. The rest of the story you should certainly read.
I enjoyed the moral argument between Elektra and Matt Murdock. This is a great story about how good intentions can lead down a dark path. There are some epic fight scenes in this volume, wonderfully illustrated by Salvador Larroca. There is a beautiful fluidity to the fights and the one between Elektra and Bullseye really stands out. Mike Carey's writing is excellent and he crafts a great story. In the initial Ultimate Daredevil I said I didn't like the fact that Elektra's father was a laundrymat owner, but this story ties it in nicely as to how Elektra would cross paths with the Kingpin.
All in all this is a fine example of a great comic. Entertaining, beautifully drawn and tells a compelling story. If you consider yourself a fan of Daredevil or Elektra then I can not recommend this enough. Even if you are not a fan but enjoy a well written and beautifully illustrated tale peopled by cool characters then this is also for you.
Good! So I have pretty much, been on a Netflix hero binge, learning all I can, I pretty much only know Daredevil really well, everyone else i need education, so Elektra ought to be next! So this I guess you can say an origin in a sense, not as to how she learns how to fight, more how she gets involved in the criminal underworld and becomes an assassin. So basically she lives with her Father and aunt, her dad takes out a loan, from the mob, and is thrown into debt, and everything Elektra does is to help her father. Daredevil is also in this, but don't let the cover mislead, this is before he gets his red suit, so he actually runs around in that black suit he wore in the tv series. But ya overall a good read!
As the saying goes, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions," this book shows Elektra delve deeper into the criminal world. I liked the emotional tension between Matt and Elektra in this story.
Reviewed this book a while ago, but it was separate edition on Goodreads; so here's my original review!

This is Elektra and Daredevil in their early years and before they get the costumes as the latter is in law school and the former still has her family around her. Elektra always made references to what happened to her father but this is the first time I saw it depicted. A well known villain makes an appearance about midway through the story. As usual the relationship between Elektra and Daredevil is dysfunctional and unusually violent. I've always taken Elektra to be hotheaded, myopic and insensitive and this comic truly proves it. The very ending and Daredevil/Murdoch's parting words just reinforced everything and made me chuckle.
ARTWORK PRESENTATION: B; CHARACTERS/DIALOGUE: B; STORY/PLOTTING: B; ACTION: B minus; WHEN READ: mid May 2012; OVERALL GRADE: B.
This 120 page volume collects Ultimate Elektra #1-5.
This story picks up after the events of Ultimate Daredevil & Elektra and is definitely the better of the two stories. I won’t spoil anything here, but I will say that it’s nice seeing some grounded street level action that involves mob activity and personal stakes for Elektra and those she cares about.
It’s a solid recommend from me, especially with it being a nice concise one-off story that can read by itself without greater implications for the rest of the Ultimate Universe.
honestly not bad, lowk nostalgic with the comic subscribe form in the back that you would cut off and mail out 🙏
some of the plot points in this is pretty out there in comparison to marvel now (like a wayy softer version of ed brubaker’s stuff). i liked the tie ins between matt and elektra’s storyline but there was no sparks or steam #falseadvertising
decent and ofc as a 6’2 feminist literature reader i have to say the depiction of elektra was good (i’ve only read one elektra book 😭😭😭)
Mike Carey clearly understands the characters and their tropes much better than Rucka did; here we get a solid introduction to both Elektra and Matt's motivations, clean introductions to both Fisk and Bullseye, and a strong story without any hackneyed props or cut-out motivations. A nice set up for a Kingpin story without being too heavy on the world of crime, and a good DD legal moment as Matt figures out a clean way through the conflict even as Elektra dirties herself. A good balance to the two characters, and with impressive pencils to boot.
Pokazuję inną stronę etosu Deredevila i robi to w interesujący sposób. Chyba ten rozdział historii podobał mi się bardziej, albo po prostu opisywał on przyjemniejsze i mniej drażliwe tematy. Dobra historia detektywistyczno-mafijna z elementami akcji zawsze dobrze się przyjmuje.
I still haven't been able to get my hands on Ultimate Daredevil & Elektra, so I'm not reading this from the perspective of someone already familiar with the Ultimate versions of these characters.
What we've got is Season One Daredevil (you know, black pajamas and a blindfold instead of an actual costume) intertwined with a barely dressed assassin who is out to save her immediate family from the legacy of organized crime. We get to check in with The Kingpin from Ultimate Spider-Man, and we're introduced to Bullseye.
It's not nearly at the level of the Frank Miller classic series, or Bendis's Daredevil run, but it's a solid, condensed reimagining that hits similar emotional beats while telling a dramatically different story.
The covers are misleading, as Murdock at no point dons the red, horned outfit. But the dialog is spiffy, the plot is fun, and Salvador Larroca's art is masterful.
Trio Hell's Kitchen versi jagat Ultimate.
This title is a continuation of the Ultimate Daredevil & Elektra arc, and it does its job much better than its predecessor. Fairly complex, street-level villains - as opposed to the college campus stuff that was happening in the previous book. Moreover, it gives Elektra much better motivation to become the killer assassin that we know. Ironically, it also gives Matt a lot more depth and justification for his penchant for the law, despite Daredevil's name being removed from the title.
Not amazing, but it definitely took strides to fill in the gaps from the last volume. 1st time read. 3/5.
Basically picks up where the previous book ended. I like that there's more focus on Elektra since I'm less familiar with her than Daredevil. I find her backstory a little more interesting than Daredevil's, but enjoy their interplay and the two very different methods they have for dealing with bad guys. Great artwork too.
In a way it represents everything that made the OG Ultimate Universe quite unique; taking familiar elements from certain characters and twisting them/taking away enough to make them feel fresh.
And while I wouldn’t say this is a masterpiece by any extent, it is a fun enough time and engaging in terms of its pathos and characters.
I didn't like the art in this one as much as the previous and I didn't think the storyline was as strong. Also, what's with the comic book's outfits. Like they're just super sexy with no real practical uses or protection?
not sure how i feel about this. i liked ultimate daredevil and elektra more. it took me nearly three months to get around to finishing it. it definitely got better mid third issue.
