Yukiru Sugisaki (杉崎ゆきる; Sugisaku Yukiru in Japanese) is a Japanese manga artist. Her hobbies are dramas, video games, and "collecting rabbit things".
Sugisaki's face is rarely seen, as she prefers to draw herself with a rabbit face or mask in her manga profile images. She also seems to have developed a trait of leaving her series unfinished before moving on to different projects (Notably D.N.Angel, which has seen multiple month-long droughts between chapters. She has just recently done many Lagoon Engine installments, including the Japanese release of volume 7.
Previous to that, she completed a small series entitled Eden, which had its debut in the October 2006 issue of Shōnen Ace, and finished in February 2007. It saw a departure of sorts from Sugisaki's previous series, with a darker, sci-fi noir theme and older protagonists.

Currently, she finished D.N.Angel in 20 volumes (5 released only in digital).

Her work

She made her debut in "Asuka Magazine" with "Namaiki no N". Her other works include "D.N.Angel (13 volumes, unfinished) ", "Rizelmine (1 volume, finished)", "Lagoon Engine (7 volumes, unfinished)", and "Lagoon Engine Einsatz (1 volume, unfinished)". Her "D.N.Angel" manga and "Rizelmine" manga have also been adapted into anime series. Because the D.N.Angel manga was incomplete at the time, the anime has many differences to the original manga, most notably the ending.

Sugisaki is also the artist of the "BrainPowerd" and "The Candidate for Goddess" manga, both of which have been turned into an anime. Her "Neutral" artbook contains artwork from "D.N.Angel", "BrainPowerd", and "The Candidate for Goddess". Her second artbook, [FEDER:] (which is no longer available for purchase), contains newer artwork solely from D.N.Angel. She has also penned the well-known "Sotsugyo M", and created doujinshi for series such as "Tenkuu no Escaflowne", Neon Genesis Evangelion, Lets&Go , and King of Fighters.

Most of her works feature young, cute main characters and elements of Yaoi, though not considered Yaoi.

Her current project is D.N.Angel, which has finally begun serializing in Monthly Asuka again.

Some of the best and the worst moments of the series were in this volume. The best involved Satoshi Hiwatari, truly becoming Daisuke’s opposite, when he undergoes his painful transformation into Krad. Satoshi’s conflicted feelings for Daisuke, Krad’s own powerful feelings for Satoshi, combined with his hostility towards Daisuke, along with the complication relationship with Dark himself all added considerable power to this series. In many ways, Krad and Satoshi seem more honest than Dark and Daisuke, whom have an equally powerful need for each other, but are driven by a need to ‘get the girl’, an impulse that doesn’t communicate itself to me in a way I understand. Neither girl’s desirability or why she’s worth getting is apparent. I keep waiting for Risa and Riku to show these qualities, why Daisuke and Dark are/were interested in them, but all they do is get into trouble, criticize him, cry for help, and get into contrived, compromising positions with Daisuke or Dark. If this is supposed to show the superiority of heterosexuality, I’m not impressed. Yes, you can see which parts of the story I didn’t like, the ones where Risa and Riku got into trouble and had to be rescued…again. At the same time, this volume introduced a female character was really likeable, helpful, and that I could actually relate to in Towa no Shirube, a.k.a. To-To. At last there’s someone reacting to Daisuke in a way I understand, plus she had some great lines. The scenes with Dark, Satoshi, Daisuke, and Krad were all powerfully epic, appearing in beautiful panels which took my breath away. Once again, I find myself giving this book four stars based on the merit of what was strong and well-developed, in spite of what feels contrived and forced. I guess I love Satoshi’s story more than I dislike the twins’.

Findimg out all of this stuff about Hiwatari-San made me wig out. His character is so mysterious that the more of his background/personality that is revealed comes out in the most shocking of ways. I will admit, I thought he was a very devious and terrible character in the animated series/anime but in this exciting manga he is, by far, one of my favorite characters and he is definately one of the reasons I am left on the edge of my seat after each book.

I can mostly only applaud this plot for being unique and different than what we've seen. But its still hard to get on board with. Daisuke is going into a world where Dark is trapped. It is trying to build some interesting lore, like Daisuke and Satoshi being called Tamers. And discussing how a lot of Art was burned and destroyed. Alluding to it being dangerous.

All of that is interesting, but the primary plot is Dark losing his memories, and Daisuke is all upset that Dark has forgotten him, or that Daisuke has "lost something precious" But honestly, even though this is Volume 5, I still dont see any kind of deep connection between Daisuke and Dark. The only real moment we got was back in book 3 where Dark tells Daisuke that his first love, wont be his only love. Besides that there have been no emotional building between the two.

I think they could have just tweaked this abit and made it better, since Daisuke goes on a hunt for Darks memories (which is just more womanizer jokes) maybe instead of Daisuke already liking Dark and sad he has forgotten Daisuke, maybe Daisuke still isnt happy with him. But as he collects his memories he learns more about him, and then actually starts to like Dark. I think the last memory being of Daisuke would really make Daisuke realize that Dark cares about him more than he thought or something.

(side note: we have another awkward sexual moment of Daisuke waking up in Darks bed, and Dark later calls him out on being a perv, but then acts like its no big deal. Please stop, these moments are so weird and not cute.)

This is so convoluted, I cant tell what the message is? Dark is just always inside Daisuke, deep down? or something? This whole thing was confusing and was an unfortunate waste of potential character building.

Also the dialogue is so annoying. There's literally 2 or 3 pages of them just calling each other names. Actually 60% of the dialogue is people saying other peoples names >_<

All that being said I still think Daisuke is really adorable and selfless. And I liked that he picked up on Dark essentially never having someone to love him back, which is why all his memories are of women, so it wasn't all bad development.
What happens with Satoshi and Krad is also mysterious and interesting, so it has me wanting more.
In comparison I have to give this book a 4 because its just vastly more interesting than the first 4 volumes, but it really feels like a 3 stars for the lost opportunity. (3.5 then? sure.)

I don't really understand what's going on in this volume... something, something identity, sense of self and the friends we made along the way. But I still really enjoyed reading it. The art absolute makes up for the fact that part of the story is flying over my head. I'm a sucker for pretty art (I'm especially fond of Towa, she's so pretty).

Good lord, these are so very melodramatic and very, very full of gay undertones. I'm getting fonder of them again, in like an extremely campy sort of way.
Still very much meant for teens.

Krad is a scary guy. The story arc with Dark lost in the mirror was actually pretty cool. I liked that Daisuke finally realizes what Dark means to him, and how odd it is for him to be alone in his own head.

Mirror world shenanigan's, also Satoshi, if you were just going to tell Daisuke how to rescue dark, why trap him in the first place?

Do the Harada twins have a genetic disposition to getting lost?

Spectacular! Sometimes the images seem to move a bit fast-paced for me, but I just try and keep up and this one...I had it playing in my head like a movie. :) I like this series more and more... :)
