Reed Parr loves Drew Sanborn with a passion that flares bright and hot and lasting. Drew fulfills every fantasy Reed has ever imagined of the perfect lover, the perfect partner. And Drew loves him right back. So what's the problem? Reed's life, for one thing. Reed's children and Drew's parents. And their inner vulnerabilities. Age differences and past hurts... Reed is a gifted architect, and his livelihood hinges on the career he's built over fifteen years with the Sanborn Architectural Firm--the company owned and run by Drew's father, a man with whom Reed and his wife had regularly socialized before Reed's wife's death. Reed had watched Drew grow up, watched as the young man become fast friends with his own son Mark, never realizing how their paths would cross in later years. Their lives are so intertwined, that the impact of their relationship on both families could be devastating. Reed simply can't take the chance on outing his love for Drew without considering the hidden impact on all their lives. Drew, sixteen years younger than Reed, is openly gay. At some level, he understands Reed's hesitance on outing their relationship. Yet after two years, he's ready for their secret affair to transform into a public commitment. Can a week in the mountains, away from the pressures and expectations surrounding them, help to cement the relationship enough for Reed to publicly admit his love for Drew? Or will everything fall apart, causing the lovers to separate forever, no matter how painful the parting? Confrontation, revelation, and steamy nights of hot, searing sex could make all the difference in the world... Genres: Gay / Contemporary / Exhibitionism / Public Places
Adrianna Dane (who also writes as Tess Maynard) has been putting pen to paper since the age of ten. She currently resides in the state of Washington and is a member of Romance Writers of America, EPIC. and Broaduniverse.
The first defining love story Adrianna read back in junior high school was "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, and that set her on the road to her long standing love affair with the romance genre. Her inspiration in writing often can be found by listening to song lyrics and reading poetry by such poets as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ranier Maria Rilke. But finding inspiration for her stories truly has no boundaries for Adrianna.
She freely admits she is a romantic by nature and adding sensual heat to romance with a dusting of suspense is her motto. "Esmerelda's Secret" released by Amber Quill Press in June of 2004 was Adrianna's first book, and with that story and her subsequent books has firmly established herself as a voice within the sensual/erotic romance genre.
Adrianna always looks forward to hearing from her readers and she may be contacted at adriannadane@yahoo.com. Find out more about her current releases as well as planned future releases and book signings by checking for updates at her website periodically.
Reed and Drew have been lovers since two years. There is a lot of problems between them: Reed, sixteen years older than Drew, his also Drew's father employees and best friend, and Drew is Reed's son best friend. Reed is a widow since six years and even if he had some gay experience back at the college, he was faithful to his wife and, even after her death, he remained in the closet, for the sake of his three sons. On the other hand, Drew, openly gay, had a sore experience with his former lover, who has left him high and dry when he most needed a lover by his side.
They have a hidden relationship, stolen weekend here and there. But this time Reed is seriously thinking to put an end to the relationship, not only fearing the possible reaction of his sons but also that his younger lover sooner or later will leave him for a man nearer his age. Drew on the other hand, has not at all overcome the pain of his former lover abandoon, and fears that also Reed will leave him. This ping pong of feelings is masterly decipts by Adrianna Dane who alternates the point of view between the two characters.
And another thing I love very much is the intimacy between the two lovers, and the very heartwarming scene of Drew who looks at his lover sleeping, rethinking at their first encounter, and looking at the clock waiting the right moment to wake him.
Hidden Impact is a rather short story, less than 60 pages, but it's very well plotted and original. I only would like to read a longer novel, that span from their first encounter to the weeks after the one features in this book. It's not a complaint, the book is very good as it is, mine is only a desire.
5 Nymphs!! Hidden Impact is a fantastic love story of two men who obviously belong together but may not end up that way. Their relationship is a strong and loving one and Reed and Drew are always willing to talk things out and try to work out their problems. ... I enjoyed every page of Hidden Impact... I highly recommend this story to fans of the m/m genre and to any reader looking for a wonderful love story... --Woodland Nymph, Literary Nymphs Reviews
4 Stars!! Hidden Impact was a love story with amazingly erotic sex. Reed does not want to lose Drew, but he doesn't want to lose his children and his job either. ... [Ms. Dane:] has a wonderful ability to describe the conflict in her stories and that was definitely the case with Hidden Impact... --Marcy Arbitman, Just Erotic Romance Reviews
