Slash

My loyalty is to my clan and my alpha. That means his ex-fiancée? Off-limits. Or at least she should be.

Flint and Layla are loved-up in their happily-ever-after, as strange as it might seem to the rest of us that our alpha bear and a lost she-wolf turned out to be mates. But not everyone in Penfell Heights is as thrilled as they are.

I thought Flint was a fool to let Marilyn go. He never wanted her—but I always have. The problem with that?

She once belonged to my alpha. And that means she should never belong to me—even if fate has other ideas.

Marilyn

All my life, I’ve done my duty to my clan. I saved myself for Flint, for the man who was supposed to be my mate. But he chose someone else.

Now, it’s time for me to choose myself.

And I know just who I want.

Slash is a full length standalone and the first entry in the Blood Brotherhood series. If you like sexy bear shifters who will do anything to protect their mates, a brokenhearted heroine ready to take control of her own life, motorcycle clubs, and a small town with plenty of heat, you’ll love this series!

Each book can be read as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment it’s recommended they be read in order.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars

I preferred the first book as I seemed to be a bit more involved with its storyline. This book was close but had a more boxed in story. Again, the characters are well developed and believable to the extent shifter can be. So let's see what the next book offers.

I didn't know this was a sequel when I started, but it quickly became obvious. I do think I was able to read this without being confused, there was sort of a recap of book one's major events so you can understand what happened. Reading from Marilyn's point of view did make me dislike Flint though and I don't think I'd be interested in his book now.

I like the fated mates trope and this was interesting because Marilyn and Slash have known each other for their whole lives and never felt any affection. They were both focused on other things and it took Marilyn not being promised to Flint any more for them to take notice. I do wish the mates part was explained a little more, it seemed more like quickly falling in love instead of something clicking into place or feeling a pull toward someone.

The plot was okay, but the conflict with the wolves seemed to be over fast and I would've liked it to be more in depth. I also didn't approve of how certain people were punished, it felt too weak for all the problems that were caused.

I liked the strong women in this and having the shifters be bears was a fun change.

Slash is an Enforcer for his Bear clan. He takes his job seriously and is good at it.

Marilyn was told years ago that she would mate with Flint, the Alpha of the clan and it has been her main focus. Her goal was to be the perfect mate to her Alpha but there was never a spark between them. Flint meets his true mate and marries/mates her, leaving Marilyn single and alone.

Slash meets up with Marilyn at the Alpha's wedding and they end up going out for drinks and this starts them spending time together.

Slash is a very closed up person and keeps to himself, mainly because of some of the things he has had to do as an enforcer. He shows as a grumpy, unapproachable person. He is attracted to Marilyn but pushes her away because of his actions of the past and Marilyn being "untouchable" because she was to be mated to the Alpha.

Marilyn is kidnapped by the neighboring Bear Clan and Slash is determined to rescue her. The bear clan is also very dangerous and unpredictable in it's practices.

Will the clan be able to rescue Marilyn safely? Will Slash and Marilyn finally find their way to one another?

This book started off very slow for me. As this couple to be didn't have much interaction with one another initially I felt like the author had a hard time building a bridge between them. The book did pick up though and I could start to feel the connection between them. All in all, I did like the book but I wish the beginning was a little stronger.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I am liking this series! You have a small town of bear shifters who really don’t take to outsiders. But once Layla came in and took Flint away from Marilyn, she wasn’t sure what to do with herself. She lost her mate (although it was for the best!) Marilyn must find herself again and who better to do that with than the grumpy enforcer Slash who she has known all her life!! Slash does not believe he is worthy of such a gift. Marilyn was saving herself for Flint and was going to be the good alpha wife – not some wild, reckless woman which was more his type!

Things get heated and Slash rejects Marilyn, knowing that they are fated mates. Both Marilyn and Slash are unable to believe that they have been right under each other’s noses this whole time. Will Slash be able to stay away from Marilyn? And will Marilyn accept Slash for what he is? Action, chemistry, passion, a little deception, jealousy, and a kidnapping will keep you up trying to find out what is going to happen! I cannot wait for the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems ARC’s and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fighting for your true mate

Slash & Marilyn: he is the enforcer of the club and always looks grumpy and unfriendly to talk to, but he get the job done. She was promised to the alpha until he finds his true mate and she pissed about it cause she wasted years for nothing, but then she went dancing with Slash and something inside happens and she knows is she has to have him.

Slash kept me glued to the pages with all of its action-packed drama. It is a well written shifter story that drew me in as I connected with the characters. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

Not bad

Marilyn and Slash's story wasn't as good as the first book but was an entertaining read. It was a bit slow and dragged at the beginning, but it picked up. The characters are still good to read about.

I really tried, but neither Slash nor Marilyn were sympathetic to me, and I didn't care about them, so their story was tedious to me.

Slash turns out to be a pretty descent guy!

He's not just piss and vinegar! And Marilyn isn't a Goodie Two Shoes! She's vibrant and wild! I loved reading about her letting go.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The second standalone deepens the Blood Brotherhood world with a tale of loyalty, forbidden desires, and self-empowerment. The story follows Slash, a loyal warrior torn between duty and his own heart, and Marilyn, a heroine reclaiming her agency after heartbreak. The chemistry crackles amid clan tensions and small-town drama, highlighting themes of choice and identity. This installment offers strong character growth and emotional complexity alongside sizzling romance, making it a satisfying continuation for readers who love bear shifters and motorcycle club dynamics.
