I usually don't laugh when reading books. Not with works or sections that are tailored to making me laugh, at least. Written comedy never really hit the spot for me, I much prefer the 'oomph' provided by something more visual like a video or someone actually telling the joke in person.
This actually made me chuckle quite a few times, which is especially impressive coming from an author that usually only writes horror.
I was born too late to explore the earth and too late to explore space but at least I was born just in time to read Clive Barker
“Even the smallest tormentor can turn your life upside down.”
A clever, darkly humorous story with perfect pacing and wickedly mischievous tension. The playful terror of the titular spirit is entertaining, though the story is brief and leaves you wanting just a bit more depth. Still, it’s a highly enjoyable and memorable read.
