when katie turns into a famous snow boarder and doesn't know how. she almost gets the the famous snow boarder fired.and then she and suzzane go see a play on ice and when katie turns into the main character who is a really famous ice skater she messes up the show for her.
This book was ok. It was handed down to us from a neighbor who was cleaning out her college age kids bookshelves. This is like book #14 in the series or something, so we didn't really know what happens, but it did a decent job of giving us a quick backstory.
What I didn't like was that it seemed a bit old for my kids. It had a lot of bullying or being mean to each other. And I honestly had no idea why Katie was friends with Suzanne. She seemed like for the most part, she didn't like her. I want my kids to pick better friends. If she has so many negative things to say about her, then I feel like she should reassess her friendship. Don't get me wrong, friends will have disagreements and fights, but she rarely had a nice thing to say about Suzanne.
The story itself was okay. Nothing spectacular. I did think some of the morals were decent. But I'm not sure we'll be picking up any more of this series.
I adored Katie Kazoo books as a kid and it's been AGES since I've read one. Ugh the nostalgia is hitting HARD. This one was a "Super Special" and involved two mini-connected stories. The plot is pretty similar with each "switcheroo," but little KJ would have been in love with the ice-skating one (Michelle Kwan was her hero).
A few things I did notice like 14 years later... - the story basically follows the same format each time - Suzanne is a piece of work (and I'm wondering if that ever changes) - I don't know if I modeled myself after Katie when I was young, but I still really relate to her - Cherrydale is the cutest name for a town and I would like to live there - the art is TO DIE FOR and I adore the outfits!!
These are GREAT books, but only good for adults. They are great for kids. They are like the Magic Tree House series, where it talks a lot about history or geography.
