This book threw me through so many different emotions and I loved every second of it! Book 2 did a great job at expanding the lore and building upon things you eagle eye readers may have noticed in the first book. Bound & Barbed was one of my favorite underrated books of 2022, and I was over the moon to finally read this after the cliffhanger. The last 30% put me through the emotional wringer. I was sad my entire day at work and would not rest until I got to the end. This was marvelously written. All the characters are interesting and I love reading about them, *ahem* minus a certain someone who I do not trust*. I cannot wait for the third book. And I'm very excited to see how this story ends!
Thank you so much to Samantha Goode for an ARC of Made & Marred!!!
I'm not totally sure what happened, but I went from a 5 star rating on the first book to this. I think it was the lack of attention to detail with the world building. Because the story was slower this time, I found myself constantly distracted trying to make sense of this world. It makes no sense that one man created a population this large in only 800 years. What did he do, go on an insane spree of turning people into Kova? That doesn't seem to fit. And how is it that the Kova still know truly so little about the Vasi? They want to kill them and seem to do so indiscriminately, but barely know anything about them. And their leader is a little cowardly. If the Kova hate the Vasi so much and think they deserve to be killed on sight, why haven't they eliminated them. They say more than once that they have the numbers and strength, but apparently let them live anyway. They just hide away on their little island letting the Vasi kill the humans. A lot of it just doesn't add up. And these issues couldn't be ignored because the characters kind of sucked too. I found myself cringing with the whole "needing to feed but not doing it without the best friend there even though it's sexual" nonsense. It was pretty much identical to the weird Poppy/Casteel/Kieran relationship from Jennifer Armentrout's Blood and Ash series. There was also way too much emphasis and repetetiveness about Lauden and Sage. I get why Sage's story is important, but it wasn't executed well. And Evaline did a 180 for most of this book. She was meek and timid and just trying to be nice to everyone, even if they didn't deserve it. We only saw her spunk and righteousness come out a couple times in this one. It was such a disappointment. And the forced found family trope was way over the top. I found myself rolling my eyes at all the literal hand holding and bonding. It was just so generic and unsatisfying. And everything else involving the characters just focused on sex. The good thing though is that I'm extremely interested in the Vasi after what happened in this one and I really want to know more about them and how their inner personalities work. So, even though this installment wasn't great, I will try to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the next book.
Ugh, the next book doesn't even have a synopsis yet. Waiting for this last book is gonna be a nightmare. Okay, to the actual book... I probably should have reread the first book, but I was too excited. It took a wee bit to get acclimated back into this story, but once I did, oh my. There is a lot more heat in this one and even more intrigue, new characters (I love you Sage!) and an expansion on the world and plot. This was fantastic and I am now (not so patiently) waiting for the conclusion. Much love to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for my ALC.
Favourite quote: "I'm glad I could help, but do we really need to hug?" ----Words from my new bff Sage
The emotional turmoil the last 30% of the book did me dirty!! Super great sequel to this story line. Answered the cliffhangers from the previous book while diving into further world and magic development! Also deepened the bond of the romance elements of the series! Ending on Another cliffhanger to await the final book of the series!! Can’t wait!
My Review: Made & Marred by Samantha Goode is book two in The Fated Creations Trilogy.
About the Book: Evaline and Maddox are parted for a time, but nothing will separate them from being together…or will it?
In this exciting continuation of their story, darker forces are steadily revealed. More secrets, more magic, more characters, more connections, and more nefarious energy gathers, leading toward a true battle for power.
My Final Say: There are no words to express just how spectacular this book is. I was enthralled the entire time. The audiobook was an experience, to say the least. All I’ve got is a giant YES!!! and two thumbs up.👍 👍
Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Dreamscape Media), to the narrators, and to NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to review this magnificent work. Salute!
Like Always thank you Dreamscape media and NetGalley for the opportunity.
With chapter 2 of this romantasy book, I have to say I enjoyed myself a lot. The pace was fast and it never bored me. I´m not a huge fan of the heroine who can do it all by herself and in this book, I particularly appreciated the fact that Eva needed her found family in order to deal with everything she is and all she needs to do. I loved the introduction of Wyott's povs. I really liked him in book one and I was hoping to have more of him in this book. All the new characters introduced in this book are super interesting - both the good and the bad ones - they all add so much to the story. Even if I saw Lauden arc from the moment he was introduced. Let's see what it's going to happen with Sage. I'm still not sure about her. The voice actors here do an amazing job of bringing to life the characters and I love their voices.
I received an advanced copy and this is my honest review.
Many second books of a trilogy suffer from “middle book syndrome” but not this one. This book at great pacing! When book one ended on a cliffhanger with out FMC being abducted, I was worried that being reunited spas going to be a significant part of the book and was pleasantly surprised that it was resolved around 10% in. Then they characters were traveling and I worried that that would take up the bulk of the book, but, once again, I was happy to see that it wasn’t drawn out. I feel like Made and Marred did a great job continuing the storyline while adding lots of new information and characters. Can’t wait to see how it all wraps up in book three.

4.5! ⭐️ Loved it! Had me going through so many emotions, sometimes having to sit the book down and remember it wasn't actually happening to me! Ha. Cannot wait till August for the next book where Samantha is going mend my broken heart, right? 🙈
Samantha, next time just take that beautiful Romminum made dagger and stab my heart, it would hurt less.
I’ve been waiting for Made & Marred since i finished Bound & Barbed earlier this year (still one of my favourites) and the wait was worth it.
Spoilers if you have read bound and barbed ahead:
At the end of Bound & Barbed, Evaline was taken by Gabriehl, her cousin, he had a plan with Bassel to have her taken to someone who had paid them. Made & Marred continued right at that point and then continued to have ups and downs and twists. Throughout the story we get more knowledge about the Kova and Vasi, as well as Evaline and her Mother. With that, there’s more lore and backstory that gets told. We finally get to meet Cora (Wyotts mate) and Maddox’s parents, and a few other characters who I hope to see more of in the next book. Well, there’s one character I could care less about seeing more of. Over all, I loved this book.
I loved reading this, I can’t remember the last time I spent an entire day and half reading a book start to finish because I needed to consume it as quickly as possible. If you like, fantasy romance, with fated mates, vampires, magic, a fantastic plot, and some really good banter between characters, highly suggest reading.
Thank you so much Samantha Goode for the arc of Made & Marred!!
dnf it after chapter 12, sorry but it was just so poorly written I could just laugh at everything the characters were saying. book 1 kept me on my toes even tho it was bad because some stuff wasn't answered yet but now that I've read what I wanted in the first 100p of book 2 there's no point in continuing to torture my own eyes lol. I don't understand how this can be rated this high on Goodreads like have y'all and I been reading the same thing?
I would like to begin by thanking the author for the e-ARC opportunity in exchange for an honest review of the book.
My rating is closer to about a 4.25.
Ummmm this took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, swooned, felt warmth, and totally bawled my eyes out. Samantha has some therapy bills to answer to because what the heck ?
This second installment in the series picks up immediately where the last one left off. The first half of the book is more about getting to know Maddox's friends and home kingdom as well as coming to terms with Evaline's changes. Now the second half is where my heart was ripped from my chest so prepare yourself. Samantha does such an amazing job with depicting grief, trauma, and anxiety. There were plenty of scenes where I was sobbing on the floor right alongside the characters.
Evaline is well on her way to being such an utter badass. She was reserved and angry in book 1 ( with good reason!!!), but here she is slowly beginning to let herself love and be loved. It was quite nice to see her be completely embraced by Maddox's family + friends. She really needed a strong support system and she finally got one! I am so excited to see how Evaline will continue to grow and step into her power. I still have some questions about the world building and certain historical events, so I really hope that they will be addressed in the next book before the end of Evaline's journey.
Maddox my precious cinnamon roll. My love for him continued to grow in this and it will never go away. Seeing him happily in love with his mate is everything to me, especially after all the pining that he did in the previous book. Maddox is my baby, but oh how I wanted to punch him in the arm for the heartache in the second part of the book and I will leave it at that.
Maddox and Evaline as mates will always make me so happy. They are so precious together and seeing them navigate this new relationship and their respective roles in it was fascinating. Maddox ever the feral flirt is everything to me. This man has waited for his mate for so long, thus he makes sure to treat her as his queen. They are so in love with each other and I can't wait to see to what heights their relationship will grow in the final book.
Wyott's POV is a new addition to the story and I absolutely loved every second of it. Seeing him and Cora as a married couple and contrasting that to Mavelin was insightful. Wyott is an amazing friend and husband. He is so warm, playful and encouraging; however, he himself carries a lot of hidden pain and anxieties. One of the reasons why I value his POV so much is due to the fact that he offers not only an outside view of Mavelin, but also because of how it builds so much nuance to our relationships.
Moreover, there are some new side characters that are introduced and I have some suspicions that they might get their own books or if not become much more crucial to the plot in the final book. I am super excited if this is the case because there is potential there for sure.
In conclusion, I had an amazing time reading this and I will not know any peace until book 3. I am ready to see my babies to get their well deserved HEA.
This book was considerably better than the first book. If I had to say why, I think it is because the first was so limited in setting and action. Evaline is also written much better in this book, which I guess makes sense because she was, herself, a limited character.
The story picks up right where it left off from the last book, but I was relieved when the kidnapping arc wrapped up quickly and was not the whole catalyst of this one. The world opens up so much - new countries, new people, new powers, new problems.
I am not huge into romantasy anymore, and I 100% fast-forwarded through all of the smut scenes (sorry, not sorry). Aside from that, I think the romances between characters are very endearing. The men in this book absolutely lap at the heels of their female counterparts, which I sometimes found comical - but, again, it's not my favorite genre. I felt the characters had complexities to them, though, and I appreciated the way that all of them interacted with one another.
Evaline's stubborn spirit in this one is definitely better-suited for the story. Her character was the biggest improvement for me.
I did the audiobook version of this book, and I will say the female performance is better than the male's, but still not top-notch. I actually listened to it sped up because both have a sad drawl to their voices. So, if that bothers you, it might be safer to go hardcopy.
Looking forward to seeing how this series wraps up!
This book picks up exactly where book one ends .. with Evaline Manor kidnapped by the man who wants her dead most in the world, Vasi . Now it is up to her mate, Maddox Vicor along with his best friend Wyatt, to save Evaline + protect her at any cost . Evaline is the key to ending everything in this war between species . The problem is keeping herself alive long enough to save everyone + keeping Maddox out of her way so that no harm comes to him or anyone else around .
Maddox + Evaline are such a magical pair of beings . Everything about them draws you in separately but then once they are together it is down right addictive ! This love story has turned from slow burn into mad, burning, passion any chance they can get ! There are still so many dangers, secrets + lies happening but SO MUCH important information is divulged in this book that ties everything in from book 1 perfectly ! The added POV chapters from Wyatt was such an amazing treat . He is truly the best friend, brother + mate to Cora . I seriously couldn’t put this book down it was just too good ! I’m itching to find out how everything will conclude in book 3 coming next August .
This is the second book in The Fated Creations Trilogy . It cannot be read as a stand alone + it DOES END ON A CLIFFHANGER !!
This book was given to me for honest review by author Samantha R. Goode .
There was a very long period where nothing was really happening and I think it could have been 150 shorter. HOWEVER when things started moving along and the plot finally THICKENED… it got soooo good. It felt a lot like an SJM book where everything happened the last 100 pages. I am so happy i stuck with it because I cannot wait for the third book to come out. Samantha R. Goode is such an amazing author. I am really excited to see her grow into the next SJM and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us. I genuinely think she had such potential!
SPOILER TIME!
I really hope evaline figures how to save Maddox from the vasi. I thought it was so interesting how she wrote it where he still exists inside. It reminded me of TOG a lot but in a new version! Also I have a weird idea that evaline and sage are somehow sisters. I also wish that we could get more detailing on her mom! Like is she alive? It isn’t specified how her mom died and I feel like she might still be alive and faked her death or something. But omg can’t wait to find out.

Made & Marred by Samantha R. Goode 4.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
•••Spoiler free review below•••
This series is IT!!!!! Book 1 ended on a cliff hanger so I was very excited for book 2...now I don't know how I will wait for book 3! The Fated Creations series is the perfect paranormal fantasy to binge. We have romance right from the start and a strong plot to keep you invested. Made & Marred builds on the world we were introduced to in Bound & Barbed, and I loved our added POV for this story. I highly recommend picking up the physical or audiobook of both books in this series - you won't regret it!
Read this book if you like: - fated mates - vampiric creatures - NA romantasy with adventure - sequels that are just as good as book 1
Made & Marred will be released October 31st and if it's not already on your tbr, it should be! . . . Special thanks to Dreamscape Media for sharing a free copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions.
Better than the first I feel. I feel like the first half could have been shortened, but I really liked getting to Rominina and all the other characters. I really liked getting to know Wyott more and him having his own pov in this book. I still don't trust Lauden though.
Things picked up more about 60% or so. And was very sad on and off. I hate that Evaline is having to deal with trauma once again. And I'm hoping there is a turnaround in book 3. My heart breaks for Maddox! I didn't like sage at first, but I do now. I like that she is coming around and realizing that she can be friends with people and help.

I’m terrified. I fear everyone is going to betray me. Everyone is out to get me. And no one is here to help me. Ohhhhh god this is why I didn’t want to read it yet!!! I need to know!!! Lauden I hate you and u know you’re evil. Sage I know you were forced to be evil but are maybe starting to change can’t wait. Maddox keep fighting brother ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 the first can suck my big fat toe. Wyott& Cora& Rosa stay strong guys. Eva!! KEEP GOING GIRL.
UGHHH I don’t trust lauden. In fact, I hate him. This book was so good. I’m chomping at the bit for this character development, the relationships, found family. So good. Also, “pain sees pain” made me tear up. Sage girly excited to get to know you, but also have a lottttt of anxiety about her. Can’t wait for book 3, I’m pretty obsessed with this series
I am leaning towards more of a 3.5 rating. The plot felt quite stagnant, I am really not sure how this is supposed to wrap all up in the final book. I did still enjoy the writing and the different POV's and their development but there were just aspects that I was expecting to be explored more and have more shocking plot twists.
As a member of Samantha's ARC group, I love her books and am excited to leave this review! I loved Bound & Barbed so much that I was worried Made & Marred wouldn't measure up. Boy was I wrong! It had everything I love: strong FMC, 🔥 MMC, spice, detailed world building, and a plot that pulls you along. I was so invested in this book that I felt dehydrated from all the crying I did. There were happy tears, sad tears, angry tears, relieved tears etc.
My conclusion: Samantha Goode is such an amazing author that she should change her name to Samantha Great.
This series really is so good. The middle of the book was a bit slow, but I love how the author left on a cliffhanger. Only wish I had known the book was coming out later this month so I would have waited to finish. Honestly though I love everything about the characters, story and the way it's told. Can't wait to see how the 3rd book is.
Made & Marred is the second book of The Fated Creations Trilogy series. The audiobook was narrated by Auri Alden and Tor Thom. They were awesome. The second book brought more character development and some crazy upsetting stuff. My emotions were all over the place and I really enjoyed it! I recommend this as a good audiobook. Thanks Dreamscape Media via Netgalley.
