There’s a lot to unpack here. I need to start book 2 ASAP. Man, I should’ve read this book much sooner. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I appreciate page-turners. I flew through this book. I read it while eating dinner and I never do that. I just couldn’t put it down.
I received an advanced reader copy from Life Changing Books/INscribe Digital
Lisa Sanchez has endured all of the countless hardships that came with being married to a drug dealer; including alienation from her family and constant infidelity from her husband Rich. Lisa's lavish lifestyle and host of material items made them all that much easier to endure. But when her wifey status leads to her being abducted and raped she finally begins to rethink the life that she's chosen.
What makes the situation even worse is how unsympathetic Rich is to all the pain that he's caused Lisa over the years. Rich is so heartless that just a few weeks after his wife's kidnapping he's pressuring her to fulfill her wifely duties telling her that she should just get over it. Getting over it would be easier if he had allowed her to receive medical attention or even counseling after the incident. Rich was a tyrant that Lisa was too scared of or either too weak to gather up the courage necessary to leave.
Their two children are caught up in the turmoil with the oldest Juan Jr. despising his father for the treatment of their mother yet still following Rich's footsteps while running part of his father's drug operations. 17 year old Denie is the ultimate daddy's girl constantly disrespecting Lisa in the same manner she's seen her father do throughout the years.
It took way too long for Lisa to finally tire of Rich's crap and dissolve the marriage. But even worse Lisa foolishly decides to hook up with someone whose situation is similar if not worse than the situation she's finally trying to get out of. Lisa was extremely difficult to root for especially when her behavior was so pathetic. And with a character as cruel as Rich you definitely want someone to root for to ensure that he'll finally get his in the end. Unfortunately by the end of the novel I wasn't convinced that Lisa was up to the challenge.
The Dirty Divorce is a book that I thought was going to be the typical hood story but what I got was anything but! The Sanchez's is one conflicted family that is beyond repair. Although Rich is in the drug game, I'm glad that the the book focused more on his marriage and other dealings than the streets.
When the story started, my heart went out to Lisa when she was brutally raped. I felt even worse at the way Rich treated her as if being raped was nothing to cry over and that the real tragedy happened when he got shot in the knee while trying to save her. As the story went on, I learned that not only didn't I like Rich, but I really couldn't stomach Lisa. She was a pathetic excuse indeed. Any woman who use her kids as pawns is lower than low to me. Even the twist thrown in about Denie didn't make her actions towards her any better. None of the characters in this book had a redeeming quality about them. The Uncle's reason for turning Carlos and Richie into the men they were was weak, egotistical, bull. I've never read a book where even though I absolutely loathed the characters, I couldn't get enough of them.
Miss KP has written a book that either you're going to love it or hate it and in this case either is fine because it's just that good. The drama is so scandalous and fast paced that you can't help but to be hooked. I can't wait until part 2.
Well now waiting for part 2 so I can finish this story.
Great book overall from the start to the end. Lisa was married to Rich a man that had it all in the drug business but, he had it all way to much out cheating and it got his wife kidnapped and raped due to his little dirty he did on the side. Him and Lisa couldn't get on track after her rap due that Lisa was still hurt that he was the cause of what happened to her. They have 2 kids Juan that is a mom's boy and Denie that is a daddy's girl.
Rich ran a drug business with his cousin Carlos traveling back and forth with him.
Rich was very control and wanted Lisa to do whatever he say even if he had to put his hands on her. Lisa got feed up and wanted a divorce. She finally stood up to Rich. Rich had his little secrets out of town with Honey and Jade. Trixie was another woman that he shared the biggest secret with until Lisa found out.
Rich become wondering about Lisa when Denie told him that Lisa may be with some man. So when Rich found out who it was that Lisa was sleeping with he went crazy and then regret it later.
Omg this book was crazy from the first page. This book is something serious. I loved it. The way the families were always at each others throat. Denie was a damn spoiled brat that talked to much crap because she always had her daddy to back her up. Juan was a momma's boy and he did whatever he had to do to protect his momma. Rich was a damn jerk from the first page. All around this was a great read. Can't wait to see what happens to Denie spoiled ass. 5 star read.....
All I can say is WOW! This book was crazy. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down and have been up all night. I was going to read something else next, but now I must read part 2 because I have find out what happens next. This was definitely a page turner with lots of twists & I'm now a fan of this author.
This book is absolutely crazy. It was a little predictable and then again there were a few surprises. I have read a lot of ghetto books in my day but this one is probably the craziest. There were a few editing errors but I ignored them because the plot is so crazy.
I was so disappointed. I rushed and brought book 2 without reading book 1 . The plot was so DRAWN out . I was like when will this book start making sense ? This book was all over the place . I decided to refund book 2 . Great imagination. Just needed to make sense on paper . I wasn’t at all captivated . Since I paid I decided to finish the book.
It still amazes me how people think that they can treat you any kinda way and everything is going to continue to be fine. Everyone has their breaking point and can only take so much before they snap.
I don't believe that people can be this dumb, this unfeeling and this horny. We're talking about huge drug dealers who would have to had some kind of self discipline and common sense to make it to the top of the game. It's difficult to see so many characters acting so unbelievably.
I never knew that it was possible to dislike every single character in a book until I read this book. My goodness these people are all crazy lol. Rich should have beat up Lisa for fighting Denie idc idc idc, she’s a horrible mother! Maybe Marisol and Denie are kinda likable, the rest of them are nuts. This was a hard read
"The Dirty Divorce" was one of the best books that I have read in 2013. It was definitely a page turner and kept my full interest from the beginning to the very end. This book was perfect example of "Love Hides All Faults". Lisa had everything a woman could want, 2 beautiful children, a nice home and financially stable. The only thing that she lacked was an honest, faithful and loving husband. Rich, Lisa's husband cared about nothing but himself, making money and what woman would allow him to lay down with her. He was very selfish and had no idea how to treat his wife or any woman. His business in the streets and deceitful ways destroyed his family. This book was a great read and was full of betrayal, death, deceit and a wild twist!
Excellent read. Great story of how a man's cheating ways effect the lives of those around him. His wife is the one who suffered the most. Juan was so selfish that he never took responsibility for his actions. The lack of remorse he showed his wife eventually became his undoing. Like R. Kelly's song "when a woman's Fed up there is nothing you can do about it." Lisa showed Juan just how much she was not going to deal with his ways any longer. The author manages to connect the dots in such an explosive way while at the same time showing you the core of each person's character. Of course book one ended with a cliffhanger that was so good it guarantees I will be reaching for book 2.
I must admit this is really a great book. I really had no idea what to expect but after reading the first few pages, I was totally hooked! The more I read, the more fascinated the book became. After a traumatic event, Lisa's love for her husband Rich solely began to dissolve. The fact that he was unsympathetic concerning her ordeal only made matters worse. More involved with his business dealings & girlfriends, Lisa was left to suffer on her own. Once she finds out a new secret concerning a good friend, & the killing of a loved one, she becomes vicious. She then decides to pay Rich back for all the pain he put her through. Ready to read part 2 to see what happens next.
I thought this book was fantastic. It was about everything that I enjoy reading about. Rich Juan Sanchez is an powerful drug dealer who is in debt. When things get rough his wife leaves him. He ends up with no wife and no mother. His kids enjoy but yet despise his presence. Lisa (Sanchez Wife) gets kidnapped & raped. They are holding her for ransom until rich brings the kidnappers a certain amount of money at a certain time. Although RIch and Lisa despise each other his heart tells him to help, and when he does things take a crazy turn.
This book was soo good.It was about a man named rich he was a drug lord. He was married and they had 2 kids together or so we thought. Rich was a cheater like all men and had a baby on his wife. He began to beather after she said she was going to leave. She started messing with another guy which was rich's cousin. Rich found out and killed him. Things got hectic in this book.
I liked this book so much because it was funny, sad, and crazy all at once. It also had me at the edge of my seat.
Yes I read this in ONE DAY! It was that good! I was pissed at how Lisa was constantly being mistreated, but I fell in love with her son Juan Jr. This story was a PAGE TURNER! It came with twists and turns and I loved every second reading this book. I am definitely interested on the second part of this book considering I average on 4oo pgs a day on reading pages LOL. YES READ THIS BOOK! IT IS ADDICTING!
This book was beyond the ISH............... All I can say is damn. More than enough suspense and drama; the two together along with the author pen game was off the darn hook.... Get it... The only reason I have not cracked open part two is because I am working as soon as I am on the road or get free time best blv I am on it.
I loved this book, i havent read a good book like this in a long time i cant wait to get book 2 and see what happens with denie and the mother rich really need to change his ways also and i felt bacd about what happend to carlos too
Lisa finally snapped at the end. I was totally surprised about Denie. Actually I was suprised about a lot of things in this book, Carlos and Rich relationship. It will be interesting to see what happens in part 2.
