Mistress Memoirs

Rate this book
What kind of woman becomes a mistress? Someone who has no regard for the unspoken cardinal rule among women of "Thou shalt not covet another woman's husband?" Certainly not Kahla Thompson; or so she thought. Kahla is beautiful, single, and independently successful, possessing all the material goods a woman could desire. Her life is surreptitiously turned upside down when she meets Kevin Eckhart, a married man with a million-dollar smile and a seductive charm she falls prey to. The two have a magnetic, compelling attraction for each another and begin a relationship under the guise of friendship. Kahla struggles to suppress her hunger for Kevin, but soon finds herself in a paradox; fighting her natural propensity to avoid an affair versus her lascivious desires for a married man and all he represents. Mistress Memoirs is an engaging, unorthodox lurk into the mind of a mistress. Through the illuminating introspective words of Kahla; Lorraine Elzia engrossingly entertains, while skillfully removing the cocoon of preconceived notions as to why a woman becomes a mistress. By delving into the self-analyzing inner thoughts that catapult Kahla into the role of the woman on the side, Mistress Memoirs gives a vision of who the other woman really is as viewed from the standpoint of the mistress herself.

Great book that tells the story through the eyes of "the other woman". I enjoyed the book from beginning to end! I enjoy Lorraine’s writing style in that she uses language and descriptions that allow the reader to truly experience the story. The story line flows. In most cases the mistress is often vilified, which is the norm for most people in society to do. This story allows people to possibly get an understanding of what might be going through the mind of a mistress as she is nothing more than the other woman and that is all that she will ever be. This happens all the time and many of us have people in our lives that can definitely relate for they have been a mistress. For me, I often think of why a person would subject themselves as being another person’s second. Sometimes it is not as black and white as it may seem. The story line, in my opinion, is real and can definitely be happening as we speak to someone that you would never expect it to be happening to. Lorraine is one of my favorite writers and she didn’t disappoint me with this one. I totally recommend this book!

Spotlight

Kahla took her parents' words under advisement, she didn't mess her life up with an unwanted pregnancy. Instead she got an education and she's working a great job, owns her own home and has not one, but two cars. Her closets are so laced that she could literally never wear the same outfit ever again. While her girlfriends all have hyphenated last names, are attending little league games, planning birthday parties and striving for some alone time, Kahla spends all of her time attending to Kahla.

Loneliness never echoed so loud in Kahla's life until she came into contact with Officer Kevin Eckhart. Unfortunately, she learns tall, dark and handsome was not on the market. Can Kahla handle being just friends? Will this friendship revolve into something more? Would there be benefits?

Lorraine Eliza, a new author on the scene, has given new meaning to something on the side. "Mistress Memoirs" delivers a savoir-faire line up of mistress do's and don'ts. Is it better to obey the law? Or is it better to selfishly serve and protect? I would definitely recommend "Mistress Memoirs" to others.

Very different...The main character Kahla has a weakness for a married man. It's a mistake beyond her control that has her in a spot of dirty seconds. Although the book Kahla is inferior to his wife because she knew in the back of her mind she deserves so much more just like the wife. This portion of love that Kahla wants so bad comes as a temporary fix once she runs into Kevin and his family to see how happy they look as a family.

Marriage to Kevin is not a legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife. He tells Kahla what she wants to hear, "I'm just staying around for the kids." At that moment he analyze the expression on her face which gave him the green light to go forward. Remind you he is a cop... At first I didn't like Kevin but I learned to enjoy him for who he really is at the end.

Lorraine does a great job of telling this great story of two lovers in Chicago. Mistress Memoirs stands along, this is a page turner that grabs your attention and don't let it go until the end. I highly recommand this book to everyone that is looking for a great read. Can't wait for the sequel!

Mistress Memoirs by Lorraine Elzia is the story of Kahla Thompson and Kevin Eckhart. This is a well-written debut novel for Ms. Elzia. In this tale, Kevin finds a way to work his way into Kahla’s heart even though he is very married. They start out as and were supposed to remain only friends, but it turns into much more. Kahla tried to avoid it at all cost but just couldn’t resist. The ending had me saying OMG! Wow that is a twist I never saw coming. I loved the poetry written by Kahla. It describes expressively and lyrically how she feels. This story is told in a way that allowed me to really identify with the characters to the point that I could feel the emotion and that’s how I like to feel when I’m reading a story.

Ok so I didn't like it. Khala is self centered and a confessed home wrecker. She had all of these high standards and failed miserably. This book seemed to be more about all of the extravagant things that she had that about her sleeping with a married man.

The story jumped around a bit, I would have liked to know more about what happened when she did go back to work after the trial was blotched, I would like to know what happened in the end considering the closing of her situation. What happened with the new officer....... which by her being interested in someone so soon after a tragedy shows that she didn't learn her lesson. So many things going on in this book that it was crazy.
