This was ok, but I liked the stories where there's more emphasis on the talents of the Terran Volunteers rather than being broodmares for compatible alien races in space.

Story?
All of Viola Grace's stories are fun! Always something new, interesting... and sci-fi (hell yea)! There is smut and it's nice - not overdone (but it IS hot!)

Characters?
I pretty much LIKE our leads in all the author's stories :)

So it's not bad - I swear!
Then why did I rate it 2 stars!? Because it's a VERY SHORT short-story.
I feel a positive it-was-quite-okay sensation than an actual "I liked it(3 stars)!"

* AND in revision, I'm giving it 3 or else it just seems like I would rater not have read it!

One I had missed out

This was a wonderful surprise. I found one in this series I had missed out. An absolute not when I decided to re-read the entire series.

And it is a gem. The usual strong women characters, but a really satisfying story. Highly recommended.

Fun book. Admaryn hero. Not set on an Admaryn planet. The folks here are all species and just developing their own society.

The seraglio is not a harem full of concubines for the king--or leader or whatever they choose to call him--but a protected space for the women who are awaiting placement with potential mates. (Whew! Relief.) This is a new society, full of men, so the few women need to be protected from over-zealous would-be suitors, that's all.

However, it seems our heroine managed to avoid learning much about the situation there and was fairly successfully avoiding her own would-be suitor, in hopes of moving on to the life of her choosing as soon as her contractual obligation (to have a baby as the Alliance demands of all the Terrans) is either fulfilled or fails. She's pretty clever. So the hero has to overcome her strategy with some of his own. Then, they go about establishing their new society.

Some world-building going on.

I seriously like this one a lot as I like all the characters in Ms. Violas stories. Each of them have their own personality. I especially like Illora and the beginning of this story. Definitely something that I would recommend to everyone. Even though it was short I felt like a lot of things were going on.
We got to see how Illora tries to manage being the wife and close to a ruler for the planet and being a consultant to the woman. Really great short story.

Short story. 87 pages. This is about a Terran (Earth girl) who is in a contract to be matched with some compatible alien. When she's tricked the last placement and has only days left, she ends up finding a good match. Sweet story. ***1/2
