This extraordinary book offers nothing less than a new vision of medical care. Rudolph Ballentine, M.D., has created a unique, integrative blending of the primary holistic schools of healing that is far more potent than any one of these alone.
Like Deepak Chopra and Andrew Weil, Rudolph Ballentine is a medical doctor who became intrigued by the workings of mind-body medicine and looked beyond the West in his search for understanding. Drawing on thirty years of medical study and practice, Dr. Ballentine has accomplished a singular integrating the wisdom of the great traditional healing systems--especially Ayurveda, homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, European and Native American herbology, nutrition, psychotherapy, and bodywork. Melded together, the profound principles buried in these systems become clearer and stronger, and a new level of effectiveness becomes possible. Healing and reorganization are accelerated and deepened--physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The result is transformation. The result is radical healing.
Radical Healing harnesses nature's medicinals--plants and other natural substances--with commonsense essentials such as diet, exercise, and cleansing, as well as the most profound principles of spiritual and psychological transformation. In Dr. Ballentine's synthesis, illness is an opportunity for growth that can go far beyond recovery. Through radical healing old habits and attitudes that supported the development of disease fall away, to be replaced by the clarity that comes with a whole new way of being in the world.
The terms transformative medicine and holistic Medicine are something that needs more profound discussion. Rudolph Ballentine discusses many interesting therapeutic methods in this book that will gather the attention of many readers.
Even though I have studied Modern Medicine (allopathic Medicine), I love to read more about Medicine's traditional and holistic aspects. I have found a few interesting concepts in this book. The problem is that more research should be done on these aspects to get broad appreciation by the people to practically incorporate them into daily life. Still, it will be an interesting book to read, especially if you are working or studying in the field of Medicine.
I'm still sceptical about some of the ideas in this book, but it's by far the best that I've read on holistic health, and a very exhaustive survey of different approaches to health, disease and healing across the world and in different eras, and how they might be incorporated with each other.
Wow, this book was a total gift. I really appreciate Ballentine's integrative and comprehensive approach to the broad topics of health and wellness. This book is like a bible to me.
Absolutely fantastic! Gives the reader a holistic overview of the many brnaches of medicine that take different approaches, but aim for one goal - healing.
This book helped me find my path to health. It is both scientific and spiritual. I found it very inspiring to believe in healing again. Disease is not something to live in fear of, dis-ease is an opportunity to listen to my body and work out completely through perseverance discipline and love. If you want greater self awareness then read this book!
I had to buy this book as part of a course I was taking and blew it off for a long while thinking it was irrelevant to what I was doing. The book is long and detailed but worth the read. Totally changed my life!
This book demonstrates how holistic healing therapies can be used in conjunction to heal, physical, mental, and emotional states of the individual. Ballentine cites many examples from years of clinical practice to demonstrate how the body and the subtle energies are all interconnected.
I loved this book! One should read it if they want to learn how to take better care of themselves without having to always rely on going to the doctor. It has a great self help index.
