BBW Erotic Contemporary

An orchestra musician, a private music teacher, and a homebody, Lily’s a full-figured, quiet woman who lives a fairly simple and solitary life. Aside from music, she has one big stock car racing. She’s been a fan for as long as she can remember and makes the yearly pilgrimage to Daytona as often as she can. When she’s offered a chance to get away to North Carolina and attend two weeks of races, she jumps at it. Little does she know what that chance has in store for her…

Cam Carter is one of the most successful young drivers in the top tier of the stock car racing circuit. All over the country, he’s well known to racing fans, loved by some, respected by a few, and hated by others. He’s arrogant, strong willed, and a consistent winner. What he doesn’t have is balance…until he meets a pretty, very curvaceous, and unassuming fan named Lily.

Lily fears the difference in lifestyles, ages, and personalities while Cam in turn, embraces them. Can they find a way to cross the finish line and take the checkered flag together or will the obstacles push against them until they crash and burn?

Cam is a famous top tier race car driver and Lily is a shy and homely woman.

Cam is twenty-five and Lilly is thirty-two.

Cam is insanely hot and Lily isn’t comfortable with being near someone who oozes such sex appeal.

I really enjoyed this book! Cam is such a cutie and although Lily annoyed me a bit in the beginning with the “Age” thing, she came through in the end.

Stick Shift is an insanely hot read. I loved the “lawn scene”, though Cam doesn’t beat Vinter in my eyes. Vinter is still my number one!

Lissa’s writing is always great. Fast cars, hot sex, what more could you want?

I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

Okay... I am sure you are getting tired of the all the books I have been showcasing lately... what can I say ~ I love sharing the hot books that I read! And this is no exception! In fact... this book makes me want to drop everything and go to a NASCAR race now!!!! You hear me NOW!!!! OH My Gosh.. Cam is just freaking Sex in a Car! All sorts of yummies. Yes... he is that hot!

This story is about a race car driver... but do not be scare. You do not have to know anything about racing cars (hell you do not even have to know how to start freaking car) to understand this story. There is shop talk in there... but nothing that will lose you or the story. Ms. Lissa did a great job at keeping the reading informed on just the right information to understand Cam's story and his passion. And just enough for the woman in me to care about how racing is in his blood.

I LOVE LILY!!!! She is about as real as real can get. She is not the average size woman ~ size 2. She owns who she is and that to me is down right out sexy. Kinda "I am woman hear me ROAR"! Yea, that is what Lily reminds me of. She is just a little skittish because Cam is younger than she is and that can make for quiet a stir in the racing community and in life in general. Lily is use to being the fly on the wall. The one that no one notices and she likes it that way. She has two best friends who compensates for that. They are the ones that don't care what people think, they are the ones that have the hot, wild sex with younger men and love it. Lily... no that is not her style... or is it??

Cam is a determined person. On and off the track. One chance meeting with Lily has his blood racing to other parts of his body that know what they want to be doing ~ and it is not autographing pictures. He is not use of backing down from anything or anyone; so Lily presents him with a challenge of some sorts. With caution flags waving around Lily's eyes... does Cam seize the opportunities he is given and go for the finish line... or does he allow Lily to push him to the pit stop and end it there?

I will give you a hint of what I like about this story... Cam is a dominate male, all alpha... And sooo yummy. But he has a side of him that is so tender and I will dare to say - sweet. I love his playfulness in his conversation with Lily. I love his mannerism. Lily just rocks my world as a heroine!! She is my kinda of woman. Ms. Lissa pens some wonderful heroines. That has to be one of my favorite parts of her writing (besides the freaking hot and steamy bedroom scenes.. okay not just the bedroom... wherever there is hot loving going on). She makes her heroine in her story real.. She makes them strong, but with a tender side to them. They are not bitches or mean or "loose"... They enjoy sex, they enjoy their own bodies and they love who and what they are. To me that is the most important thing about a woman. When you can love who you are for what you are... that is just sexy!
And when Ms. Lissa pens her heros... oh damn, they turn me to a freakin limp noddle they are so hot! And the boundaries she pushes... are freaking explosive. The woman are not push overs (to be the submissive), but they know what they want from the relationship. But in all relationships, sometimes we are kinda scare to ask what we really want... So will Lily and Cam make it the finish line or will issues arise like the red flag signaling it is over before it even started??

To find out... I will make you read it.. maaahhhaawwwww...

It was ok, they fell in love way too quickly for my liking. The heroine's obsession about her age got on my nerves, she was 7 years older than him, not 70. I could have understood her hang ups if she was like 40 to his 25.

I have a hard time rating the book cause I felt it was left unfinished. The characters were good, the build-up great and sex fantastic but the main problem the heroine felt the relationship couldn't work wasn't solved good enough for me. Just because hero repeated the same thing again what he had all through out the book and came knocking on her door with cookies now she's gonna have faith in it????!!!! I really would've wanted better solution - maybe meeting his parents?! OR showing how his driving is ok again?! OR how they start on working to bring their totally different lives together?! OR something more than just running away and the hero coming after her and that's it. That's not it!

Isabel's Review

Lissa Matthews is a new author to me, but Stick Shift, the first book in her Bad Boys of Racing series was a pure delight. Cam was one dangerous, sexy, alpha male who knew exactly what he wanted once he laid eyes on Lily. His drive, determination, and confidence was one sexy package that made my mouth water for more. Add to that his skills in the bedroom and he's all that and a bag of chips. I love the older woman younger man trope and when you add 200 miles per hour to the mix, it makes for one delicious read. 3.5 stars. Definitely a short story, wanting more details, to fast and incoherent at the end. Felt in complete, but cute.

I’m on a Lissa Matthews kick at the moment, and I’m a sucker for racing car drivers… this could have been written especially for me * grin *.

Lily is a quiet and curvaceous woman with two passions in life: music and stock car racing. She jumps at the chance to spend two weeks in North Carolina and finds herself at an autograph signing session for popular driver Cam Carter. He’s as thrilling off the track as he is behind the wheel and Lily watches, mesmerised, as he signs her friend’s t-shirt. Walking past him, he tugs on her shirtsleeve and asks her boldly – to the amusement of the waiting line - if she doesn’t like him.

Dark sapphire eyes danced with merriment, and she couldn’t help but return the smile. “I like you just fine.”

She didn’t like to be the focus of attention in groups of people. She preferred to just blend in, stand on the outside, observe. The way people were staring at them made her uncomfortable. The way Cam was staring at her made her uncomfortable in a completely different way.

As she gawks at him, he signs a photograph and scrawls his phone number on the back… along with a time and date and a place to meet.

Cam wasn’t sure he wanted to tell anyone about it, about her. It wasn’t like him to try and pick up women in the autograph line – or any line at all, for that matter – but something about the woman named Lily had intrigued him. He wanted her. Plain and simple.

He’s thrilled when Lily shows up.

“I have nothing else that I’m needed for until tomorrow, so that means I’m all yours tonight.”
“Oh.” She likely hadn’t hidden the surprise at his choice of words, because he laughed. All hers? Yeah right. In what universe was a man like Cam Carter ever going to be “all hers”?

She is nothing like the women Cam usually dates and he’s smitten.

She wasn’t flashy, wasn’t a size 4, wasn’t the same kind of woman who held the arms of his friends and fellow drivers. Maybe that’s what drew him to her. He was different, and so was she.

I love the way Lissa Matthews makes her characters real. You feel their angst and their delight, and you desperately want them to be happy. Right from the first electric date, theirs is a passionate and exciting story. Did I also mention that Lissa Matthews writes some of the hottest sex scenes?

“Inside you, Lily. I need inside you. Wallet. Condom.”
He was speaking in one-word phrases, but he couldn’t help it. He was afraid if she so much as breathed in his direction, he was going to come right then and there and look like an amateur at making love to a woman.

Even though they’re madly in lust, their worlds are too different. Lily fears that when she returns to Florida, Cam will move on to the next woman. And if that wasn’t bad enough, his crew chief is getting worried.

"All this time he’s been spending with you makes me think his head isn’t in the right place. He’s running for a championship, and he’s not going to get it if he continues to be distracted."
“Are you asking me to stop seeing him?”

It’s a short, hot read and one that had me hooked from the opening page. Enough bumps in the road to make them work at it, and enough sweet times to make it satisfying. I was especially thrilled when I mailed Lissa Matthews to ask if there might be a follow-up to Stick Shift, to feature some of Cam’s fellow drivers and she said there may be :-)

5 out of 5.

When sweet musician/teacher Lily goes to North Carolina for a mini vacation to house sit for her friend, she never imagined that her life would be turned upside down.

Lily is a huge race fan, and while her friend is out of the country, she leaves Lily with her racing tickets. Before a race one day, Lily and a friend go to an autograph session that features Cam Carter - THE hottest driver in racing today. Lily is shy, 32 years old, and doesn't feel she is anything special. After an awkward meeting with the hot 25 year old Cam at the autograph session.....he feels an instant attraction to her and she feels the same, but doesn't want to admit it to anyone.

He scribbles his number and a time and place to meet on the back of one of his photos - and she shyly leaves the autograph signing without even realizing that he had slipped her his number.

After much prompting from her friend, Lily goes to met Cam, blah, blah, blah....and they proceed to have some crazy hot sex.

Lily is never quite comfortable with the whole Cam thing. He is young, hot, rich, and famous - she is (what she considers) old, not famous, and not the rail-thin model she thinks everyone expects him to be with. I sort of love that about her. I have my own body issues - so I totally relate to Lily thinking she isn't pretty enough to date the hot guy. (Awwww.)

And Cam. Jesus Christ - he is just about the hottest thing there is. His affection for Lily is so honest and sweet - it's so easy to see why she fell so hard for him so fast. And really - Lily is a sweetheart - so that works the other way too. Lily is real - she doesn't want Cam because of his fame....she wants him for him and he knows it.

I really loved this story. It was short, sweet, passionate, and VERY VERY sexy.

Solid 4.5 stars.

Lily’s a full figured beautiful woman, an orchestra musician and music teacher. She leads a quiet life with only one exception she loves stock car racing. When her friend, Candi offers her the use of her home and her season tickets to the races while she is out of the country Lily cannot refuse. One thing Lily never expected was to get involved with racings bad boy.

Cam Carter is a rising star in the racing business. He’s loved by some and hated by others. He lives to race. He’s a strong willed and sometimes arrogant man but when he knows what he wants he goes after it, and he wants Lily. From the moment he spots Lily at a signing, Cam can think of nothing else. He goes after her but she is hesitant considering their vastly different lives. Cam is not known for giving up. He is determined to convince this sexy woman that they belong together.

Stick Shift is a fast, sexy, sizzling romance. I love the stock car racing back drop to this story. It amps up the drama and makes for a thrilling setting. Cam is drop dead gorgeous but his personality makes him irresistible. The way he pursues Lily is hot. Lily’s doubts are genuine and I love the way Lissa Matthews tells this beautiful romance. This is an erotic story, so the sex is off the charts good, but it’s the love story that had me swooning in Stick Shift.

Oh Lily, how lucky you are. A man that bakes cookies, and sweeps you off your feet. I am jealous!

Yeah. Lissa's work is a hit again. Another romance starring a real woman, and a sexy as hell man who'd do anything to get his gal. I am soooo not a racing car fan, but oh my heart stopped a few times when Cam, the sexy hero, got himself into a few situations on the track. And I giggled at the cute flirtatious digs and bedroom banter.

Over all, this ebook was much longer than the normal novella, but it wasn't padded out. Each and every single word was needed. Great characters who made me feel as if I were watching a great Hollywood Blockbuster movie, romance felt natural and I was dying to read the HAE. Yeah. I know. It's a romance, guaranteed HAE. But that didn't occur to me, I was too stuck int the story to think logically. A HIT!

Now...to find some racing on the TV! wheeeeeee

Lissa Matthews takes on NASCAR Romance, and gets a checkered flag!

Cam was a shock for me, I must admit. This young stud had so much heart and maturity that made him a strong contender for most remember able hero. Cam is the rising bad boy star in racing, always one to butt heads with other drivers Cam does not back down. Now he set his eyes on a different prize, but can he win in the end?

Lily is a heroine that I stamp with the "Real Deal" tag. I could just eat her character up. Down to earth, passionate, secure in herself Ms. Matthews did an amazing job bringing Lily to life. Lily is house sitting for her friend, but what she did not bargain for is running into Cam Carter racing's bad boy and the star of her most decadent dreams. What's a gal to do when said bad boy is offered up on a silver platter, but to enjoy.

Loved this story. LOVE RACING and Lissa did an awesome job of incorporating that world into a love story. Awesome! Lily and Cam are wicked steamy. Their blossoming love is adorable and Cam is the perfect -I know what I want and I'm getting it-alpha male. Hot steamy sex scenes top this romance off! I can't wait to read more from Lissa.

9/12/14 - rereading as it has been updated and want to see what changes were made...
9/19/14 - I liked it as much as I did the first time. I only wish there was an epilogue of some kind to finish their story but now it looks like there will be books 2 & 3!!! Hopefully well see Cam and Lily in those and that it will wrap them up nicely!
