Location: 50 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Population: 150-mostly men-but growing! Because the O'Halloran brothers, who run a bush-plane service called Midnight Sons, are heading a campaign to bring women to Hard Luck.
Duke Porter. He's the best pilot Midnight Sons ever had. Tough, rugged, great in a crisis. He's also an unashamed traditionalist who delights in expressing outrageous opinions. Especially when Tracy Santiago's around... But Tracy gives as good as she gets, and their clashes become legendary in Hard Luck!
Tracy Santiago. The first time this Seattle attorney came to Alaska, it was on business-business concerning Midnight Sons. Now she comes because she likes the place, likes the people. Even Duke Porter... In fact, she more than likes him-and she can't understand why. He's so obviously not the kind of nice, sensitive man she wants. Or thinks she wants.

This is the one with the "lady lawyer" and the pilot, Duke. I remember reading it when it first came out 20 years ago and enjoying it. Maybe because it was one of the first small town series I ever read, and it seemed fresh then? Plus career women was big trope back then and Duke wasn't daunted by her intelligence, which was nice to see at the time but now seems dated.
Pretty decent, liked the H more than the h who was a bit insipid.
I love how in these 90s books a woman having mild feminist views such as 'a woman can have a job' and 'a woman can ask a guy out' is supposed to be so radical and shocking. Don't worry though dear reader, at the end she realises how insane she was to waste her time being a full time feminist and has renounced her ways so she can have love and family instead, as though these things are mutually exclusive.
This was a charity shop buy for me, so I haven't read the 5 books that came before this. We spend a lot of time meeting past couples that bored me.
THIS SUMMARY/REVIEW WAS COPIED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND IS USED ONLY AS A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT FOR MY PERSONAL INTEREST. ANY PERSONAL NOTATIONS ARE FOR MY RECOLLECTION ONLY I enjoyed the story with Tracy and Duke. I thought there would be a whole lot more fighting involved in the story and was relieved when there wasn't.
I was very excited about finding someone for Ben. I have wanted Ben to find himself a wife from book one in the Midnight Son's series and happy that it happened in book 6.
I didn't know I would wind up loving Duke so much (usually not a fan of the male chauvinists!) but Macomber proved he was so much more than that in this story. This actually turned out to be one of my favorites in the series, and Duke wormed his way into my heart. I loved every moment I spent in Hard Luck, and I hate to see it end! Now I have a burning desire to visit Alaska (something I never thought I'd say) just because it's become such a huge part of my (imaginary) life. Like all of Macomber's books, these were sweet, romantic, and chock full of happily-ever-afters.
"Ending in Marriage" is the story of Tracy and Duke.
A sweet enemies to lovers romance between a handsome pilot and a sassy strong lawyer. They have always been at loggerheads, and find each other detestable. That is until they are involved in a plane crash, and their true feelings emerge.
This was as predictable as it can be. Chauvinistic hero, feminist heroine, lots of fighting and her learning to cook. The rating is because of the second sweet romance between Ben and Mary.
Love these short stories and I especially love the stories set in Alaska. This is Volume 3 of the Midnight Sons series and the characters are very diverse and likable. Seems they all fall in love pretty quickly and they go from zero to 100 in 3.2 seconds. But the threads of drama make it more interesting.
Another five star series of Debbie Macomber . This series takes us fifty miles North of the Artic. The short dark days of winter and beautiful days of summer. The young women who are flown up to Hard Luck Alaska to meet the young bush pilots and find jobs. Romance and weddings in rustic and simple times in the nineties in Alaska. Loved the adventures.
Fun, clean romance based in remote Alaska. I enjoyed the antics as a bullheaded, macho man fell in love with an independent and highly intelligent woman. If you like a romance without the eroticism, this may be just the story you are looking for. Each book can be read alone, but for the best experience, read them in order.
Good read. Liked the story flow. Liked the characters and reading their individual struggles and how they work through them. Fun reading the back and forth issues between characters and finally realizing it is love. Always a pleasure to read this author. Would recommend this book.
Duke Porter and Tracy Santiago never get along when together. They are like oil and water. She has been visiting Mariah O'Halloran. She is to fly back to Seattle and Duke is her pilot. The near tragedy they have changes everything, kinda. Great read.
I enjoy reading Debbie’s series books. Even if you don’t get to read the whole series, you feel like you did because of the way she writes the story. I love and enjoy her books. Haven’t read one yet that I didn’t like.
The final book in the series regarding Hard Luck, Alaska and all its characters. Everything tied up and everyone tied into all of their relationships. Beautifully written, intriguing and delightful. Made for an enjoyable series. 12/23/22 - 12/24/22
Good original end for this series! Wrapped up the stories of each couple & nice story about how the last two couples got together. Nice easy & happy read! Now on to the short novella written 4 years later, with stories of the kids in this series!
This was a really great series!I I loved and seriously enjoyed every single book! Every story held my attention. Thank you for your gift of creating every single story. Your work is truly a blessing in today's world. Bless you MS Macomber.
Debbie has written a series of beautiful relationships with all kinds of troubles and realities. Could not put it down and at the same time looking forward for more. Always interesting and entertaining!
