Megan has been summoned to Essengar station in orbit above a planet she is not allowed to set foot on. No alien has the right to walk on that world. She meets her ex-partner in the psi-tracker corps and immediately is overrun with emotion. Einar stirs lust, longing, and when he tells her that he took their child out of stasis to be born in a surrogate, she feels fury. Punishing him in the most direct way possible, she drains her immediate anger and they can begin the negotiations for Megan's presence...in his bed...as his wife.

I like VG, but the premise of this one was a little insulting to women who have had children abducted from them by a spouse or partner. No woman reacts this way, forgives that easily (if at all) and then goes on to marry the abductor. I realize this is just a book but some issues are too sensitive to just throw out casually, this is one such issue.

Wtf... this was just... AHHHHHHRRRRRGGGG! She acts like she's the kids stepmom. She missed 4 years with her own kid, knees ass munch in the balls and all is forgiven?!?! F#@$ that and F%#& him! And the first wife! F@#% her too! Stupid dead woman! Ugh... I'm so mad. Rating pending a cool down period.... but it ain't gonna be 5 stars

I have mixed feelings with this story. It was not bad. There were actions and fight scenes but the problem is that I just find it unacceptable to be that forgiving when she found out that Einar took their child out of stasis to be born in a surrogate. It was just AAAARRGH!! I know that if she want to see her daughter she needed to be his wife because no one can land in the planet but still to be that forgiving is a little off. The surrogate mother was also unbelievable how can you agree to that. The plot was hardly believable at all and didn't like it.

Short story. 85 pages. Capitulation was too soon, especially after what he did. Not truly believable. So the beginning had me wondering if this would be the first book by this author that I couldn't finish. But I kept plugging along and eventually the story turned out a lot better. ***
