Solidly pastoral. This book deserves a re-read at least once every five years.

A must read pastoral ministry book that's short, practical and realistic. The first chapter alone is worth reading. It goes right next to Preachers and Preaching and Charles Bridges' Christian Ministry

The perfect day for me is sitting with the burning candle and putting my thoughts down on paper, with the trickling rain outside. And then I see in my mind's eye a door that needs to be knocked on and I go. (Or something like that.) Resonance.

This is an extremely influential book, especially for pastors like myself who do not want to be a pastor-manager/executive but whom God has made to shepherd a small local congregation of Christians through daily and personal face-to-face friendship.

A gentle reminder for pastors (and anyone involved with congregational life) to remember the call to shepherd God's people with the love of Christ.

I loved this book. Read it several years ago, early in my ministry (I'm 14 years in now) and it changed my outlook. Got me through some hard times along the way...
