Claudette's Review

Jim Russell’s best friend Dave married Keira Winter’s best friend Charisma. So Jim and Keira keep bumping into each other, but their first meeting a year ago, was far from friendly. He accused her of being an interfering busy body and she let him know exactly how little she valued his ‘high handed’ opinion. They are undeclared enemies who share the same circle of friends. Friends who except for them, are all happily married and love to match make.

Though both Jim and Keira deny it, their friends have seen that they are attracted to each other, and seem to believe that they would make a great couple.

Keira has more important things to worry about, than her friends trying to set her up. Several months in her job as a flight attendant, she was the sole survivor of a plane crash. Ever since she’s been plagued by nightmares and cannot face getting back on a plane. Her future in the career she loves seems to be over. Her father recently died and her whole life seems to be in turmoil. As if that wasn’t enough she finds out that before he died her father sold his motorcycle mechanics business to a stranger, and never told her.

I really enjoyed this interracial romance. Though it is one in a series and this is the first I’d read, I was completely drawn emotionally into the CCD world, (it stands for Campbell Construction Design) of these characters. My one grievance is that when the main characters have their big misunderstanding, it would have been better for Jim to at least, have shown some doubt, rather than believing the lie he was told about Keira. When you love someone you should know them well enough to know what they are capable of, no matter how plausible the evidence to the contrary. Showing some doubt would make the reader more readily able to excuse, and forgive the way he reacted. Not all the loose ends are tied up so I’m assuming that they will be in the next book, featuring Jim’s friend, the gorgeous, Dante.

First time reading this author. I'm going to start by saying that maybe because I didn't read the series in order I'm on the fence, but surely I know I'm borderline 1/2, nearly not liking this book at all. While the summary initially had me really interested in reading the story, once I actually started I had to force my eyes not to close. The novel just didn't live up to it's summary. As a lover of most IR pairings and quick reader, this book took me entirely too long to read. I felt the author spent more time writing why the two main characters should be together and fit rather than actually showing it. Words thrown together with a couple of alright sex scenes doesn't count as a romance novel to me. The main characters were overshadowed by the numerous secondary characters and I didn't like the constant interfering from them on their relationship status. The added portion of True and her past catching up with her, obviously from another book that I hadn't read, was mind-numbing. I get that was put in to add some suspense but I don't see why when it had nothing to do with the main characters. "Help Wanted" was supposed to be about Jim and Kiera, but it was in actuality Jim, Kiera and everybody else too. I begin to wonder do some authors even consider that not every reader reads all of their books, and in order. I understand that it's a series, but some writers need to be aware of this and adjust their stories accordingly. I'm not even going to start on Jim and how much of a douche he was at times. It's just too many annoyances in this book to list them all really. Despite all that, still I'm going to read the other books in the series since I've already purchased them. But, guarantee, these will be my last books by this author.

This is a book I add into the category of 'flyby' because frequent lovers of romance should fly by it and choose something else to read.

Help Wanted was a DECENT enough read.....I would have liked a little more chemistry between Jim and Keira(not sex...chemistry)....At times they seem to disagree about the least little thing and stop speaking for days and then Keira fogives and all is well at least for a little while.......Don't want to give to much away but I would have like to read about what happen with Dalton, True and Haywood.......Also would like to have known how Jim handled the incident with Kathy and Trevor along with the custody battle.......With that being said I would give this book a 3.5 rating due to the fact that we were told about certain conflicts verses reading about them thus having it all just wrapped up into a NEAT little ending.....
