Excellent primer on Faraday's life, work and later influence. Rather than focusing on the scientific discoveries, James looks at their application and wider cultural value.

4.5 stars. This was a lively and informative overview of one of the most important figures in modern science. Very easy to read and always accessible. Recommended for anyone interested generally in science.

A great introduction, giving lots of contextual information. It doesn't claim to be technically focussed and it isn't, but still an enjoyable read and good starting point for those technically minded or not. Well written and the further reading section is through.
